Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Sanders was born Sept. 8, 1930 in Shamrock. He retired, after 42 years of service, from First National Bank in Shamrock. He married Jimmie Gray on Nov. 17, 1967 in Wellington. He was a graduate of the University of Texas. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Shamrock. Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Sanders, in 1961. Survivors include his wife; a son, Barry Sanders of Shamrock; and two brothers, Charles Sanders of Shamrock and Joel Sanders of Dallas. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church building fund. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 Noah Thaxton HEREFORD - Noah Thaxton, 2, died Monday, April 23, 2001, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. Doris Huckert officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park, north of Hereford, by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Noah was born Nov. 30, 1998 in Dalhart, the son of James Rich and Brenda Thaxton. Survivors include his mother, Brenda Adame of Dalhart; a sister, Stephnie Adame of Hereford; two brothers, Tim and Sammy Adame of Washington state; and grandparents, Ricky and Sandra Thaxton of Dalhart and Cecil and Mamie Thaxton of Hereford. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 Amanda McClaren DALHART - Amanda Cloyd Stowers McClaren, 85, died Monday, April 23, 2001, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home Chapel of Friona with the Rev. Don Boren, pastor of Friona United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery of Friona. Mrs. McClaren had been a Dalhart resident for the past 25 years, moving from Texhoma. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Bob McClaren; two daughters, Cleta Edens of Guymon, Okla., and Bonnie Gragg of Agra, Okla.; five grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 Amarillo Virginia Bradford Virginia "Ginger" Bates Bradford, 68, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 23, 2001. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Bob Schroeder of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Bradford was born July 14, 1932. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1950. She majored in physical education at Amarillo College. She married E.W. "Bill" Bradford on Dec. 28, 1952. She moved to Fort Worth and lived there for 43 years, returning to Amarillo in 1997. She was a member of the Sterck Class at University Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Denise Hinds and husband, Ken, of Hico, Diane Denham and husband, Randy, of Amarillo and Laura Stofregen and husband, Scott, of Fort Worth; a brother, Ed Bates and wife, Rose Marie, of Amarillo; a sister, Carolyn Wilson of Spanish Fort, Ala.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 Phyllis Cline Phyllis Cline, 88, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel at Polk Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Cline came to Amarillo in 1927 from Denver. She was a registered nurse doing private duty nursing, and working at Northwest Texas Hospital for 35 years. She was born in Sutton, Neb. on Nov. 7, 1912. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1930, from Amarillo College in 1932, and from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in 1940. Mrs. Cline was a member of Polk Street Methodist Church, the Susannah Wesley Sunday school class and United Methodist Women. She also was a longtime member of the American Nursing Association, the Texas Nursing Association, and a lifetime member of Northwest Texas Healthcare System Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of the Hi-Plains Pilot Club and Texas Zeta Sorority. Survivors include three sisters, Ardis Martin and Shirley Brown, both of Amarillo and Betty Retzlaff of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Dr. Deane Cline and his wife, Jeanne, of New Braunfels; 20 nieces and nephews; and many great- and greatgreat nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 Kenneth Lamar Brown Kenneth Lamar Brown, 44, of Amarillo, died Friday, April 20, 2001. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in St. John Baptist Church with A.L. Gipson, superintendent, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Brown was born in Amarillo and attended public schools in northern California. He served in the Army from 1974 to 1977. Survivors include his parents, Milton Brown Jr. of Las Vegas and Dora FosterBrown of Amarillo; a sister, Ora D. Lawson of Las Vegas; three daughters, Nykeesha Brown of San Bernardino and Kenyatta Brown and Ethel Brown, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 Robert Alan Berry Robert Alan "Bob" Berry, 55, of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 21, 2001. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Luke Presbyterian Church with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Berry was born in Houston on Nov. 13, 1945 to H.A. and Evelyn G. Berry. He grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School. He attended West Texas State University and graduated from the University of Texas, where he also attended law school. Mr. Berry taught school in Indian villages in Alaska. He was a bush pilot, a commercial salmon fisherman and an aide to the Alaska legislature. In 1988, Mr. Berry returned to Amarillo where he studied agriculture and animal husbandry at West Texas A&M University. He was president of Berry Farm and Ranch. He married Mary Louise "Lou" Kibbey in 1992 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Christopher M. Berry of Austin; a sister, Jeanie Berry Henry of Juneau, Alaska; a brother, Randy Berry of Austin; an aunt, Genevieve G. Porter of Dallas; nine nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and great-nephews. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Amarillo Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, 301 S. Rusk St., Amarillo, TX 79106; or Amarillo Adult Literacy Council, 2219 S. Van Buren St., Amarillo, TX 79109. The family will be at 2423 S. Ong St. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 New Mexico Anne B. Wood CLOVIS, N.M. - Anne B. Wood, 90, died Saturday, April 21, 2001. Cremation will take place and no local services will be held. A private family graveside service will be at a later date. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Wood moved to Clovis in 1959 from California to be close to her daughter and her family. She was active in all the senior citizens groups in Clovis and the Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Schaub of Clovis; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the National Arthritis Foundation. Amarillo Daily News, April 25, 2001 Elsewhere John M. Fry HOUSTON - John M. Fry died Sunday, April 22, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Houston National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Earthman Funeral Directors. Mr. Fry was born in Beloit, Wis., in 1923 to Lester W. Fry and Mildred Fry. He was a 1948 journalism graduate of Beloit College. Prior to his college graduation, John was a lieutenant in the Navy and was stationed on the carrier USS Cowpens. As a naval aviator, John's squadron, known as the "Fighting Fifty," was the first to enter Tokyo Harbor in 1945 prior to the Japanese surrender in World War II. John received various military honors including the Navy's Air Medal. John retired from Nylcare 65 / Aetna in 1999. He enjoyed researching American history in his spare time. John was preceded in death by a brother, George Fry, in 1986. Survivors include a son, John Fry of Houston; three daughters, Barbara Davenport of Scottsdale, Ariz., Cathy Crosser of Clinton, Iowa and Becky Lovin of Amarillo; a sister, Helen Hagen of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Hunters Creek Chapel at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers be to Emmanuel Episcopal Church building fund.
