Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel in Canyon with the Rev. David L. Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Canyon, officiating. Cremation has taken place. Mr. McDonald married Dianna Teaftiller in 1984 at Amarillo. He was the owner of Handy Dan Appliance in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Stephanie McDonald, Jennifer McDonald and Erika McDonald, all of Amarillo; a son, Joshua McDonald of Amarillo; his mother, Lois McDonald of Arlington; a brother, Dwain McDonald of Key West, Fla.; three sisters, Cindy Goodman of Arlington, Debi Luera of Amarillo and Pam Shaw of Canyon; and a granddaughter. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 25, 2001 Linda Johnson Hulsey LUBBOCK - Linda Johnson Hulsey, wife of the Rt. Rev. Sam B. Hulsey, retired Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, in Fort Worth. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Martin's in the Field Episcopal Church in Keller with Bishop Hulsey, the Rev. Frank Reeves, rector of St. Martin's, and the Rev. Scott Albergate, associate of St. Martin's, officiating. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church at Lubbock. Officiants will be the Bishop Hulsey, the Rev. Peter Whitson, the Rev. William D. Nix Jr., and the Rev. Jo Mann. Mrs. Hulsey was born in Waco and graduated from Corsicana High School. She attended Mary Baldwin College in Stanton, Va., and graduated from Southern Methodist University where she was a sociology major and a member of Pi Beta Phi. She and Bishop Hulsey were residents of Pampa from 1966 to 1973 where he was rector and day school headmaster at St. Matthew's and priest-in-charge at All Saint's in Perryton. While in Pampa, she was a member of the Junior Service League. She later was in the jewelry business in Midland and a member of the 1911 Needle Club and P.E.O. Sisterhood in Lubbock. She volunteered at the Texas Tech Art Museum and St. John's Methodist-St. Paul's Episcopal Food Bank. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ashley Louise Hulsey of Seattle; a son, Dr. Byron Christopher Hulsey of Charlottesville, Va.; and a sister, Seley Johnson Fuller of Corsicana. Matney, 90, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Citizens Cemetery of Clarendon with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Community Fellowship Church in Clarendon. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Matney was born May 10, 1911, in Brownfield. She was a resident of Plemons before moving to Amarillo in 1937. She was married to Virgil Lee Matney on July 21, 1934, at Stinnett. He preceded her in death in 1985. She retired in 1978 as a special education teacher. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Polk Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Iris Anne Matney Brack, Jeanine Matney and Lee Matney Jackson, all of Denver, and Verna Loy Matney Gerald of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Betty Lee Matney Blythe of Whidby Island, Wash., and Doris Carolyn Matney Weatherly of Dallas; a brother, C.C. She was a nurse in area nursing homes for many years. Mrs. Tubbs retired in 1979. She resided in the Shamrock area until moving to Amarillo in 1973. She was a member of Olsen Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Tubbs was preceded in death by a daughter, Eloyse Whitson; and a son, Dale Whitten. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. W.D. Parker of Amarillo; two sons, Bobby Whitten of Amarillo and Joe Whitten of Lubbock; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 25, 2001 Area Roy Lee Wells SKELLYTOWN - Roy Lee Wells, 59, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, in Pampa. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in the White Rose Cemetery at Reydon, Okla., with the Rev. Alberta Helton, pastor of the Reydon-Wheeler Community Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Wells was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Donley County. He married Cleta McEntire on Dec. 22, 1966, in Wheeler. He moved to Skellytown in 1972 from Reydon. He worked for Groendyke for five years before going to work for Cabot in 1977, where he worked until his death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Skellytown and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Pampa. He was a veteran of the Air Force from 1961 until 1965. He also was a county and western singer and a songwriter. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shelly Edwards of Amarillo and Traysha Newsom of Quanah; a son, Richard Wells of Amarillo; two sisters, Freda Johnson of North Vernon, Ind., and Billie Sibley of Fritch; two brothers, John Wells and William Wells, both of Reydon; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Mr. Oliver was born in Claude. He lived in Amarillo for 67 years. He worked in the electronics field in sales throughout the Texas Panhandle for 53 years. He worked up until the time of his death. He was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. He married Donne Uhrig in 1950 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Paula Bass and husband, Dale, of Amarillo; two sons, David Oliver and wife, Debbie, and Dan Oliver and wife, Robin, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Charles Oliver of Amarillo, Ray Oliver of Denver and Roy Oliver of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Chapman was born in Eldorado, Okla. She grew up in Miami, Pampa and Lefors. She married Alexander M. "Bud" Chapman on Aug. 24, 1938, in Clayton, N.M. Mr. Chapman preceded her in death on March 5, 1985. Mrs. Chapman had ranching interests at Endee, N.M., and Broken Bow and Tryon, Neb. She was the owner of Orchid Beauty Salon. She had been a beautician for more than 50 years with salons in Shamrock, Vega and Amarillo. She was a member of Central Church of Christ. Survivors include four daughters, Roxie Thomas Brownlee of Clarendon, Clara J. Chapman Driggs of Denver, Victoria E. Grogan of Fritch and J. Rose Chapman Ballard of Phoenix; a sister, Rose Hall of Clarendon: 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Wilson lived in California while working at the U.S. Naval shipyards. He moved to Shattuck in 1985 and to Gage in 1990. Mr. Dalton served in the Army and Air Force. He was a longtime senior employee of Western Shelters Systems of Eugene.
