Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Fairmont Cemetery at Follett with the Rev. Clay Wells, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Follett, officiating. Arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Saylor was born in Follett. She moved to Amarillo in 1956. She was a homemaker and very active in arts and crafts. She moved to Lubbock in January 2000. Mrs. Saylor was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She married Herman Steinert in 1939 at Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1954. In 1957, she married Roy Saylor at Canyon, he preceded her in death in January of 2000. Survivors include her daughter, Onlee Boswell and her son-in-law, Bill Maness, both of Lubbock; two sisters, Permilia Kearns of Woodward, Okla., and Gwen Warren of Amarillo; a brother, Roy Bruce of La Plata, N.M.; four grandchildren, Brady and Corey Boswell of San Ramon, Calif., and Doug and Janilyn Kahley of Vallejo, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Caresse, Chaz, Brady Lynn, and Britt Boswell all of San Ramon and Lacey Kahley of Vallejo. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe March 25, 2001 Dennis DeWayne McClellan Dennis DeWayne McClellan, 29, of Amarillo, died Thursday, March 22, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. McClellan was born and raised in Amarillo. He attended Caprock High School and graduated from the Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy. Dennis was a disc jockey at the Crystal Palace inside the Radisson Inn. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Jordan McClellan of Amarillo and Colby Schrader of Dalhart; his parents, Ronnie and Judy Kyle of Amarillo; three brothers, Chris Campbell and Michael Leggett, both of Amarillo, and James McClellan of McLean; two sisters, Victoria Jenkins and Susan Kyle, both of Amarillo; and his grandmother, Juanita Kyle of Amarillo. Dennis loved his sons, parents, brothers and sisters very much. He will be dearly missed. The family will be at 6517 Westwood Drive. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe March 25, 2001 Viola Henderson Carver Viola Henderson Carver, 84, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 24, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Northridge Church of Christ with Mr. Hal Smith, minister of the church, and Mr. Eddie Messer, minister of Central Church of Christ, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Shamrock Cemetery at Shamrock by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Carver had lived in Amarillo since 1964. She was a member of Northridge Church of Christ. She married Donald H. Henderson in October of 1932 at Hollis, Okla. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1963. She moved to Amarillo in 1964 from Grand Junction, Colo. She married R.Q. Carver in October of 1965. He died Aug. 30, 1986. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Jimmy and Bill Henderson; a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include three sons, Norman Carver of New Harmony, Utah, and Eugene Henderson and Roger Henderson, both of Amarillo; five daughters, Shirley McLaskey of Grand Junction, Peggy Sechrist of Yukon, Okla., Sandra Johnson and Linda Rodgers, both of Amarillo, and Cynthia Pollock of Kileen; four brothers, B.F. Dorman and Jerry Dorman, both of Pampa, Charles Dorman of Palisade, Colo., and Don Dorman of Granbury; 29 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe March 25, 2001 Bitha Morning Bitha Morning, 98, of Amarillo, died Friday, March 23, 2001. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Riverview Cemetery at Arkansas City, Kan. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Morning was born in Bethany, Mo., and had lived in Amarillo since 1942. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was a longtime member of the choir and the HepburnNevius Circle. A homemaker, she was a member of the Harmony Club, McDowell Club and the Philharmonic Club. She played guitar for the "Sweet Sounds" and was part of a trio who sang at church and civic organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry George Morning in 1975; a daughter, Marcille Morning Burton in 1984; a grandson, Robert Norman Burton in 1988; and a brother, Claude A. Mitchell. She worked for Kansas Gas and Electric in Arkansas City. Survivors include three granddaughters, Vicki Burton Dunscombe and Robin Burton Blount, both of Columbia, Mo., and Anita Gayle Witt of Las Vegas; two nephews; four great-nephews; and eight great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe March 25, 2001 John Jones McMordie John Jones McMordie, 72, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 24, 2001. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Bill Shultz, longtime friend, officiating. A lifetime resident of Canadian, Mr. McMordie was a longtime cattle buyer and rancher. He attended New Mexico Military Institute and Texas A&M. Mr. McMordie was a member of Canadian Presbyterian Church and Texas Cattle Feeders and National Cattlemen's Associations. He was also a pilot, golfer and roper. His brother, Frank F. McMordie, died in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Anna McMordie Henry and Joni Middleton, both of Dallas; a brother, Hobart B. For many years, she worked as a dietitian at Dr. Dan Trigg Memorial Hospital in Tucumcari. "Curly" Owens, 86, died Thursday, March 22, 2001. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery at Canadian. Arrangements were by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Owens was born April 15, 1914, in Honey Grove. A former longtime Canadian resident, he moved to Dumas in 1960. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned and operated Owens Ford from 1960 to 1997. He served as deacon at First Baptist Church for 29 years. Mr. Owens married Mildred Jackson on May 11, 1940, in Pampa. She died on April 18, 1974. He married Pearl Hanna on Aug. 11, 1976, in Dumas. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Craig Owens and Scott Owens, both of Dumas; four sisters, Lolian Whaley of Oklahoma City, Louise Moore of Canadian, Peggy Price of Grand Junction, Colo., and Nona Elkins of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Jarvis was born July 15, 1932, to Arthur Belew and Lorene Williams Belew, in Wellington. She attended school in Wellington. Evelyn married Jesse Jarvis on Feb. 14, 1955, in Fresno, Calif. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1978. She was a longtime resident of New Orleans. She was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Jarvis was active with her children in Little League, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Mr. Ramirez was born to Dario and Rosa Ramirez on April 16, 1938, at Musquis, Coahuila, Mexico. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Cosby and the Rev. John Wagoner, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. Wagoner was born on March 26, 1911, in Clarendon, to Dr. Charles L. and Betty Fields. She was raised in Groom with seven brothers and four sisters. Following graduation from Groom High School, Martha attended Wayland Baptist College. Martha married Robert Wagoner on Nov. 7, 1931. They farmed near Groom before moving to Deaf Smith County in 1937. Martha and her husband owned and operated Wagoner Trucking from 1952 until 1975. Martha also worked for 10 years as a receptionist at Rix Funeral Directors in Hereford. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was an active member of her Sunday school class. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star and was active in several bridge groups. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Lewis Fields, Truett Fields, Madison Fields, Raymond Fields, Charles Fields and Tom Fields; and four sisters, Ruth Smith, Esther Tinsley, Margaret Thomas and Frances Mosley. Survivors include a daughter and sonin-law, Elane and Barry L. Jones of Hereford; a brother, Henry and wife Koma Beryl Fields of Claude; grandchildren, Gary and wife Susan Jones of Oklahoma City, Karen Jones of Irving and Robert and his wife Laura Jones of Hereford; great-grandchildren, Ben and Sam Jones of Oklahoma City; three sisters-in-law, Nettie Fields of Groom, Minnie Fields of Amarillo and Dorothy Fields of Vega; and numerous nieces and nephews with whom she shared a great deal of love.
