Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Quanah Church of Christ with Mike Marsalis officiating and Charles Griffin. Burial will be at Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. McSpadden was born in Quanah and married Kerwyn (Hamm) McSpadden in 1943 in Altus, Okla. A graduate of Abilene Christian University in 1943, she taught school in Kirkland, Quanah, Morton and Vernon. Survivors include a son, David McSpadden of Burkburnett; two daughters, Judy Allen of Burkburnett and Mary Patterson of Wichita Falls; a brother, Curtis Camp of Amarillo; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Lewis was born March 1, 1924, in Caddo Mills to Charles Manon and Viola May Diffee Hulme. She married Robert Jones "Bob" Lewis on May 30, 1942, in Killeen. He died Dec. 17. She moved to Canadian in 1953 from Quanah. She was an avid supporter and room mother for the Canadian school district for 31 continuous years and continued to support her grandchildren in their many school activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Hustlers Sunday school class, Circle II and the Wednesday Morning Women's Bible Study. She served on numerous church committees. She was a "Mother" and a homemaker. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were members of Idle Wild community near Eagles Nest, N.M. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Jones Lewis Jr., in 1970, and a grandson, Jacob Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 17. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mr. Short was a member of Buchanan Street Methodist Church. He married Tommie "Ruth" Short in Plainview in 1935. He moved to Amarillo in 1942 from Tahoka and worked for Pantex Ordinance during World War II. He worked as a derrick man in the oil fields for more than 15 years. He retired after 20 years of service at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995. Georgia St. Mr. Sumner married Virginia Houck in Colby, Kan., on Aug. 3, 1935. He began his career in the 1930s as a self-taught mechanic. He worked at Boeing Aircraft as a tool-die designer, building B-29s for the war effort. In 1947, he and his wife started a custom combining business. By 1987, the business had grown to include six combines, seven trucks, multiple grain trailers and a work force of more than 12 employees. He retired in 1987 and spent many years RV-ing and fishing. Mr. Sumner was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Herrmann was born April 6, 1931, in Amarillo to A.E. (Ollie) and Almeada Garrison Herrmann. He attended grade school at St. Mary's Academy and graduated high school from Price Memorial College in 1949. He graduated from Notre Dame University with a business degree in 1953. In the summer of 1953, he married the former Bettye O'Brien of Amarillo. He then continued his education at the University of Texas, graduating with a law degree. He spent his career actively involved in the oil and gas business in the Texas Panhandle. He was vice president of A.E. Herrmann Corporation. He was president of Tascosa Production Co. and later sole owner of the company. He was a partner in Richome Oil & Gas, Basin Royalty and J-Bar-D of Texas County, Okla. He served as president of Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association. He had served as vice president of Filter Spun Co. and vice president of Permian Potash Co. He had served on the board of directors of Serfco in Pampa and the board of directors of St. Anthony's Hospital. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus organization. He had spent his last nine years as the president of Basin Royalty in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick Herrmann of Abbeyville, La., and Steve Herrmann of Dallas; two daughters, Deanna Williams of Lewisville and Barbara Martin of Amarillo; two brothers, Dr. Jack Herrmann of Albuquerque and J.B. Georgia St. Miss Russell was born April 18, 1920, in Turkey, Texas. She received a master's degree from West Texas State University. She taught in Turkey, Estelline, Las Cruces, N.M., and Amarillo Public Schools for 38 years as a first-grade teacher. She retired from Western Plateau Elementary School. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and was a member of the United Methodist Women and Church Women United. She was a former member and worthy matron in the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. After retirement, she volunteered at local hospitals and for hospice. She mothered and lovingly cared for brothers, her sister, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces or any others wherever needed. Mr. Toland was born in Cottle County on Aug. 18, 1921. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and fought in the Mediterranean and received three Purple Hearts for wounds received in the liberating of Solarno, Italy. He had lived in Amarillo since 1946, working many jobs ranging from storefront glass cutter, night mail truck driver, Santa Fe Railroad's "Madame Queen" fireman and Amarillo Air Force Base civilian boilerman. In 1968, he transferred to Bushland Research Center for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a well driller. He retired in 1979 with 34 years service to the United States between his military and civilian time. He was a member of West Amarillo Christian Church and was active in the D.A.V., V.F.W. and Purple Hearts. He married Johnnie Imogene Redmon in 1945 in Quanah. He was a hard worker all of his life and everyone who knew him will miss him, as he was a Christian, caring and giving man who always tried to serve others. Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy Toland and his wife Paula of Amarillo; a sister, Frances Beaman of Florissant, Mo.; three grandsons, Paul, John and Mark, all of Amarillo. Mrs. Fyfe owned and operated the Dottie-Sue Lamp and Gift Store, located in the Fleetwood Shopping Center, for 16 years. She was a member of First Christian Church and attended the Friendship Sunday school class. She was a former member of the St. Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of the Palo Duro American Business Club Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.E. "Jack" Fyfe; two brothers, Thomas Herbert and Jimmy Herbert; a sister, Jerry Applewhite; and a granddaughter, Kimann Fyfe. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Barbee was born in Jud and had been a resident of Amarillo since 1946. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate Howard Payne College in Brownwood and was inducted into the school's hall of fame. He married Helen Joyner in 1939 in Spur. He was a freight company manager in Amarillo for many years. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo where he had served as chairman of the board of deacons and as the superintendent of the adult Sunday school department. He moved to Florida from Amarillo in August. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Suellen Stephens of Phoenix; a son, Mark Barbee of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Iona Sellers of Bronte; two brothers, Beraline Barbee of Bronte and E.G.
