Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Stratford Cemetery with Mike Talley, minister of Stratford Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Trainham was born in Crawford, Okla. She had lived in Stratford for 31 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Stratford Church of Christ. Mrs. Trainham was married to William Louis Kyle in 1954 at Cheyenne, Okla. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1981. She married Robert Martin Trainham in 1982 at Las Vegas. He died in 1998. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nina Ellison on Nov. 27, 1995; and a brother, Claude Lucas in 1983. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Ellen Kyle of Dumas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Roxie and Jack Newcomb and Billye and Joe Zak, all of Stratford; a son-in-law, Butch Ellison of Stratford; a brother, Clarence Lucas of Sunray; a sister, Maggie Lee Powers of Cheyenne; 10 grandchildren, Sammy, Buffy, Kyle, Carolyn, Carrie, Eric, Scott, Malcolm, Ryan and Miranda; and a great-granddaughter, Shaylee. Francisco Perez, parochial vicar, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Martinez worked for the Chevrolet Corp. in Flint, Mich., and retired in 1996 from G.W. James Construction. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Amarillo Globe-News, July 26, 2001 Tom Knighton - Tom Knighton, 74, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Perryton High School Auditorium. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Perryton. Mr. Knighton was band director for Perryton schools from 1957 to 1986. He earned his bachelor's degree in music from West Texas State College in Canyon. He married Ellen Yvonne Sanders Oct. 8, 1949, in Canyon. She died March 10, 1981. Mr. Knighton taught band in Olton Schools from 1950 to 1951. In 1953, he moved to Perryton, where he was a partner with Herman Stockton in the Western Auto Store from 1953 to 1956. He was a past member of the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Knighton was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Questers Sunday school class. He was a past soloist, vocalist and timpanist with Messiah Productions. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a volunteer with the Museum of the Plains. He also was a member of the Senior Citizens Association and the local chapter of Texas Retired Teachers Association in Perryton. From April 1945 to December 1946, Mr. Knighton served in the Army with the 305th Infantry Regiment of the 77th Infantry Division. He was a technician 4th grade radio operator in Japan from October 1945 to October 1946. He completed glider pilot school while in Japan. He played string bass and drums in Post Jazz Band. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. Survivors include a son, Rev. Dr. Jeff Knighton of Perryton; two daughters, Jennifer Knighton of Dallas and Mary Knighton of Perryton; a brother, Bill Knighton of Hideaway Lake; a daughter-in-law, Linda Knighton of Perryton; a sister-in-law, Bettye Knighton of Hideaway Lake; and grandsons, Joshua and Kaleb Knighton of Perryton. Mrs. Pruitt was born in Cleburne and had lived in Panhandle since 1951. She was a retired school teacher with Whittier Elementary School in Amarillo. She was an artist. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Panhandle. She married Howard Pruitt on Feb. 10, 1951, in Cleburne. He died in October 1995. She also was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Smith. In 1999 and 2000, she volunteered with a dental mission team. The team was associated with St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Worth and served in Argentina and Guatemala. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lou Ann Parker, in 1992. Mr. Parker was a member of the Buchanan Street United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of the United Transportation Union for which he formerly served as general chairman.
