Arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Quitaque. Mrs. Purcell married Cecil Purcell on Feb. 28, 1952, in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include four daughters, Carol King of Plano, Connie Smith and Dianna Johnston, both of Silverton and Ruth Proctor of Quitaque; two stepsons, J.C. Purcell of Beaver, Okla., and Doyle Purcell of Borger; a sister, Sylvia Yearby; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Burial was in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Leinen was a lifetime resident of Castro County. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Plains Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and VFW Women's Auxiliary. J.D. Young, pastor of Victory Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Zumwalt was a motor grader operator for Gunn Campbell Construction Co. He was Baptist. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sunray Baptist Church with Philip Hilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Home in Dumas. Mr. Hightower was born Oct. 7, 1975, in Las Vegas, N.M. He graduated from Sunray High School in 1994. He was a member of the Sunray Baptist Church. After attending a year of college at WTAMU he joined the Marine Corps. He served in the Security Force in Naples, Italy, and peacekeeper in Albania. He was then stationed at Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., until his recent military discharge. Survivors include a daughter, Nicole Lauren of Naples; his parents, Phil and Joanie Hightower of Sunray; his grandparents, Allen and Paula Hightower of McDowell, Mo., and Ward and Della Hobbs of Maxwell, N.M.; a brother, Morgan Hightower of Wheeler; a sister, Britt Hightower of Sunray; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Hartley Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Sechrist was born on April 10, 1926, in Pratt, Kan., to Burl and Verna (Young) Rohr. She moved with her family to Dalhart in 1938. Survivors include two daughters, Tommie Spears of Amarillo and Beverly Lance of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a son, Jim Sechrist of Amarillo; two sisters, Betty Frantz of Hartley and Eileen Neal of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 27, 2001 Earl Thompson DALHART - Earl Thompson, 88, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Dalhart with Chuck Aldrich, pastor of Assembly of God, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson was born Nov. 14, 1912, in Boise City, Okla., to Lanning and Mabel (Elsworth) Thompson. He was raised in the Felt area and came to Dalhart in the late 50s. He married Darlene Hook in Dalhart on July 15, 1960. He owned and operated the Old Shamrock Hotel and the Airspeed Service Station for many years. He started working as a cowboy in Dalhart in the 70s and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Assembly of God in Dalhart. He was preceded in death by a son, Glen; his parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Darlene of Dalhart; a son, Bobby Hayes of Dalhart; two daughters, Louise Haisten of Logan, N.M., and Rose Mary Crager of Cleburne; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mark Metzger, pastor of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Dettle was born Jan. 7, 1949, in Dumas. He was a lifetime resident of Stratford. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Stratford Masonic Lodge No. 874. He was the past president of Sherman County Hospital District, Stratford Independent School District Board, Stratford Chamber of Commerce, Stratford Country Club and First United Methodist Church Administrative Board. He was a past board member of CASA and Sherman County Development Committee. He was engaged in farming, ranching and feedlot operation. He married Barbara Flores on June 15, 1967, in Stratford. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Dee Dettle on Jan. 17, 1982; and his mother, Ronnie Dettle on Dec. 4, 1997. Survivors include his wife; a son, Martin Dettle and wife, Shannon, of Stratford; two daughters, Shawna Lacewell of Dallas and Courtney Reynecke and husband, Warren, of Frisco; two brothers, Phil D. Dettle of Dallas and Chris Dettle of Lomita, Calif.; two sisters, Andrea Schoppet of Little Rock, Ark., and Celeste Johnson of Denver; two grandsons, Talon Lacewell and Parker Dettle; an uncle, Jack Dettle of Stratford; two great aunts, Martha Dunne and Betty Cummings both of North Hampton, Mass.; and a great uncle, Bill Lavalle of Riviera Beach, Fla. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the Church of Christ with Tom Anderson, minister of the Memphis Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Rummel was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Holdenville, Okla., to M.J. Holland and Sadie Parsons Holland. She came to the Buckcreek Community of Collingsworth County with her family in 1913. She attended school at Buckcreek. She married Gilroy Rummel on Sept. 15, 1926, in Collingsworth County. They moved to Wellington in 1968 from their farm. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilroy, in 1981. Survivors include a son, Don Rummel of Lubbock; a daughter, Louise Cox of Wellington; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 27, 2001 Amarillo Ruby Lee Moon Ruby Lee Moon, 80, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Conway officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Moon moved to Amarillo in 1950 from Dumas and married Pat Moon on May 7, 1940. She retired from J.C. Penney's after 20 years. She was a past president of the Amarillo A&M Mother's Club, past president of Top of Texas AA Group and past District Representative for Panhandle Chapter of Alanon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat, on Feb. 29, 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Dees and husband, Wilbur, of Fayetteville, N.C.; a son, Ronald P. Moon and wife, Guydene, of Amarillo; three sisters, Bonnie Lawdanski of Milwaukee, Nadine Elston and Minnie Elston, both of Hobart, Okla.; and two grandchildren, Sarah Dees of Fayetteville and Patrick Moon of Amarillo. Mrs. Hayes was born Sept. 2, 1912, in Fredrick to Carrie and Fred A. Dickinson. She married Wayne Howard Hayes in Sapulpa on Sept. 22, 1931. Survivors include a son, Gerald "Jerry" Hayes of Independence, Mo.; two daughters, Leanna J.
