Jim Teeter, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Lefors, officiating. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Powledge had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Allison since 1953. She married Leonard Powledge on June 1, 1941, in Sayre, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 23, 1993. Survivors include a son, Leonard Powledge Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Briscoe; a daughter, Margaret Ann Hall and husband, Charles, of Pampa; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 27, 2001 Walter Taylor QUITAQUE - Walter Taylor, 81, died Monday, Sept. 24. 2001. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Taylor of San Antonio and the Rev. Don McMahan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Gray Mule Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Quitaque. Mr. Taylor was born Nov. 28, 1919, at home in Floyd County to James Walter and Fay Taylor. He graduated from Quitaque High School in 1938. He married Colleen Rogers on June 8, 1947, in a sunrise ceremony on the rim of Palo Duro Canyon. He was a member of Quitaque United Methodist Church. He served in the Navy during World War II as an aviation machinist mate from Jan. 13, 1942, to Dec. 11, 1945. The family bought the A Ranch in Floyd and Briscoe counties in 1911. He ranched there all of his life and he ranched in Motley County since 1959. He was a man known for his word and he considered a handshake as good as any written contract. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Walter Wayne Taylor and wife, Kathy, of Quitaque and Glen Taylor and wife, Cissy, of Tulia; two daughters, Lynnette Barefield and husband, Phil, of Quitaque and Anna Jean Oglesby and husband, Fred, of Del Norte, Colo.; a brother, Ursel "Booger" Taylor of Floyd County; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He retired as a career Marine aviator in 1972. After retirement he became a real estate broker and financial adviser. He resided in Orange County, Calif., and San Diego before returning to Amarillo in 1991 to enjoy retirement. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948 and received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi University. He was involved in local motor home clubs and the National Family Motor Coach Association. He was president and national director of the local Caprock Cruisers Motor Home Club. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jan; a son, Riley Russell Wilkison of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Regina Gail Shoemaker of Rolling Hills, Calif; an aunt, Twillie Mae Jarrell of San Jose, Calif.; a cousin, Nancy Brock of Las Vegas; two grandchildren, Bradley Shoemaker and Brittany Shoemaker, both of Rolling Hills, Calif.; and numerous cousins. A gathering for friends and family will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Victory Church. The 10 a.m. Sunday services will be dedicated to the memory of Mr. Shull with a special message brought by David Brown, pastor. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage Street. Mr. Shull was born in Clovis, N.M., and lived in Amarillo most of his life. He worked as a conductor for Santa Fe Railway for 42 years, retiring in 2000. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 27, 2001 Stephen F. "Steve" Scott Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Westminster Presbyterian Church sun porch with the Rev. Jeff Conway, senior pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Scott was born in Greenwood, Miss., and moved with his family to Arrowhead Ranch north of Amarillo in 1926. He married Dorothy Duncan in Amarillo in 1940 and was widowed in 1995. They reared three children, Stephen Scott Jr., Marshall Scott and Martha Stocker. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his son Stephen Jr. in 1989. He was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and served in the Army from 1943-1946 and was overseas a good part of that time. He was employed with a natural gas transmission company, Colorado Interstate Gas/Coastal, for 40 years. He was a Potter County commissioner for four years and a real estate broker for 20 years. Mr. Scott built a small store and gasoline station adjacent to Colorado Interstate Gas, 32 miles north of Amarillo. He also established a post office in Masterson and served as postmaster servicing Exell Helium and ranches in north Potter and south Moore counties. He married Gloria Suzanne Usry on June 14, 1997, in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Marshall Scott; a daughter, Martha Stocker; four grandchildren, Stephen Scott III, Jennifer Scott, Zachary Stocker and Julie Stocker; a son-in-law, Richard Stocker; three stepchildren, Larry, Steven Richmond and Janice LaRue; three stepgrandchildren, Michael Richmond, Shane Richmond and Erin Ross; and a step great-granddaughter, Autumn Richmond. Mrs. Fair was born Jan. 7, 1917, in Covington County, Ala. She married Joe Fair in 1957 at Clovis, N.M. That same year she came to Amarillo from Mena, Ark. She was employed by Robert and Rachel Aikman for a number of years as a domestic housekeeper. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. Osage St. Mr. Wright worked as a deputy sheriff in Cass County, Mo., for 18 years. After moving to Amarillo, he worked as a house parent for Amarillo State Center.
