Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville with Dr. Jimmy Reese officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Mrs. Martin was born July 17, 1911, in Cooke County, the daughter of F.W. and Sarah Proffer. She married Henry Martin in 1930 at Gainesville. Mrs. Martin passed away at the Kings Manor Nursing Home in Hereford. She was retired as a self-employed hairdresser for over 39 years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church of Amarillo. She loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1933; six sisters; and a brother. Survivors include a son, Bill Martin and wife, Dorothy, of Amarillo; a daughter, Betty Cardinal and husband, John, of Lubbock; two sisters, Martha Reese of Hereford and Marguerite Green of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was an anti-aircraft gunner in the Army during World War II, serving in North Africa, France, Sicily, Italy and Austria. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Miss Hinds was born in Canadian and had lived in Amarillo most of her life. She retired from the First National Bank of Amarillo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was secretary of her Sunday school department for many years. Miss Hinds was preceded in death by her mother, Austa May Hinds, in 1964; her brothers, Clint Hinds, in 1993 and J.D. Hinds, in 1996; and by a sister, Goley Mae Lanier, in 1996. Amarillo Globe-News, June 28, 2001 Billy Ray Oliver Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Dr. Jim Bankhead, senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Mr. Oliver was born in Amarillo and had lived here most of his life. He was a vocational training teacher at Amarillo College from 1970 to 1973. He worked for Mason & Hangar, Silas-Mason Co. Inc., at Pantex from 1960 until retirement in 1986. Mr. Oliver graduated from Amarillo High School in 1940. He also graduated from Northwestern State Teachers College in Alva, Okla., as an aviation cadet in the Army Air Corps in 1944; graduated pre-flight school at San Antonio Aviation Cadet Center; and Radial Engines Mechanics School at Amarillo Air Force Base. He completed necessary courses to receive certification as a vocational training instructor through the engineering extension service of Texas A&M University in Pampa. He was a member of Palo Duro Masonic Lodge No. 1239 and a former member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union. Mr. Oliver was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He married Carol Robinson in Amarillo on Nov. 25, 1969. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Traci Reed of Grand Junction, Colo., and Toni Oliver of Seattle. Harold Gattis, 54, of Amarillo, died Saturday, June 23, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor Francis Smyer, of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Gattis was born Aug. 27, 1946. He graduated from Tascosa High School and earned degrees in marketing and government from the University of Texas at Austin. He resided in Amarillo, where he was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Catholic Church with a deep love for scripture and his friends at the church. He also was a former member, and had fond ties to the people of Lake Tanglewood Community Church. Mr. Gattis worked for some years in the family business, Gattis Shoe Stores of Amarillo, and later managed personal investments. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winford H. Gattis and Theda Currey Gattis, also of Amarillo. Survivors include three sisters, Carole Gattis Coon and Beverly E.C. Gattis, both of Amarillo, and Janet Gattis Duke of Austin; and three nieces, Anya Darrow of San Francisco, Kristin Darrow Tigart of Baltimore and Johanna Duke of Austin. He was a retired route-salesman for Amarillo Linen Service. He was born March 12, 1910, in Houston, to Hubbard and Effie McCutchan. He married Gladys Belote on March 21, 1936, in Shamrock. Mr. McCutchan was a member of the Bell Avenue Church of Christ. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf and had played for the Bordens baseball team. Ted was preceded in death by a sister and a brother. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Frank of Germany, James of Sugar Land and David of San Antonio; a brother, Morris McCutchan of Riverside, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
