Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Lynn Garrett, minister of senior adults at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Young was born May 5, 1914, at Corsicana. Following graduation from East Texas State University, he taught vocational training at Wichita Falls Independent School District and Amarillo College. He married Lorene Mouser in October 1933 in Vernon. They were married for 68 years. He was active in business in Vernon, Wichita Falls and Amarillo. He was president of Young's Trailer Sales Inc. in Amarillo. He was a member of Lions International, Oddfellows and the Methodist Church. An accomplished musician, Mr. Young played guitar, bass and banjo with several country and western swing bands over the years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, LaNell Berry and husband, Bud, of Amarillo; a son, Jack Young and wife, Joyce, of Amarillo; a sister, Ava Young Guinn of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Laura Young Zink, Dr. John Young and wife, Dana, and Jamie Standlee McNabb and husband, Patrick; and six great-grandchildren, Amanda Zink, Ryan Zink, Caitlyn Young, Christian Young, Callan Young and Camryn Young, all of Amarillo. She married John Wright on Feb. 16, 1941. They moved to Amarillo in 1954, where they were associated with Blackburn Brothers. They bought the store in 1963 and it was sold in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, and a son, James C. Wright in 1963. Alex Joseph Cox, 38, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, in San Antonio. Rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Curtis House and the Rev. Rob Linley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Sgt. Cox passed away at Fort Sam Houston while mobilized in support of Operation Noble Eagle. He was born March 9, 1963, at Amarillo and was a 1981 graduate of Tulia High School. He enlisted in the Army in November 1982. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C., and spent some time in Korea. He then enlisted into the Texas National Guard and served with Det 1 HHC 2d Battalion (Mechanized) 142d Infantry, Plainview, as a scout platoon team leader. He later transferred to HQ, HHC (-) 2d Battalion (Mechanized) 142d Infantry in Lubbock. He was mobilized with Company C 2d Battalion (Mechanized) 142d Infantry to serve as force protection at Fort Sam Houston. Sgt. Cox was awarded the following medals during his service as an Army Infantryman: Jump Wings, (1) Army Good Conduct Medal, (1) Army Commendation Medal, (3) Army Achievement Medal, (1) NCO Professional Development, National Defense Medal, (1) Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, (1) Texas Faithful Service Medal and (1) Adjutant General's Individual Award. In his civilian life, Sgt. Cox attended Texas Tech University and graduated from South Plains College in 1989 with an associate degree in applied sciences. He married Shelly Beth House on July 4, 1991. His wife and a daughter, Jordan Beth Cox, born May 26, 1992, survive him. He was currently regional sales representative for Personal Optics. He also designed, built and owned his own golf course, Cox's Acres, in Tulia. He was preceded in death by a son, Andrew Gwain Cox and a brother, Gwain Dow Cox. Survivors include his wife; his daughter; his parents, Charles and Inez Cox of Tulia; his parents-in-law, A.G. and Ellouise House of Tulia; and four brothers, Lance Cox and Eric Cox, both of Tulia, Val Cox of Corsicana and Sgt. Mr. Graue was born July 3, 1934, at Carrollton, and was a resident of Hedley before moving to Memphis eight years ago. He married Florence Kerns on Sept. 8, 1983, at Amarillo. He worked as a truck driver for much of his life before his retirement. He was a veteran, having served in the Coast Guard from 1952 until 1956. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 23, 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Monique Asher of Holt, Mo.; a son, Gilbert T. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Glazener was born May 15, 1936, at Pampa, to Buel and Esther Davis Glazener. He graduated from Dalhart High School and received his degree from West Texas State University in 1958. He married Eleanor Forgey Worsham in 1994 at Amarillo. He was a captain in the Army. He began his accounting career with Brown, Graham & Co., P.C. in 1961 at Amarillo. He moved to Canyon to manage that office in 1966 and became partner in 1967. He retired from Brown, Graham & Co., P.C. in 1997. He was a member of American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, Panhandle Chapter of TSCPAs and Texas Cattle Feeders Association. He served on the boards of TSCPA Education Foundation, Texas Society of CPAs, Panhandle Chapter of TSCPAs, State Bar of Texas, Texas Bar Foundation, West Texas A&M University Foundation, Dreamland Cemetery and American Heart Association. He was a deacon of First Presbyterian Church of Canyon and was active in farming and ranching. He had been involved with Opportunity Plan Inc. since its inception. He was previously active in STAND, Kiwanis and various professional committees. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy Glazener of Pittsburg; a son, Kelly Glazener of McLean; two brothers, Larry Glazener of Dallas and Gary Glazener of Mesa, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
