Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Borger, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa. Mrs. Smith worked for the Texas Employment Commission, the Railroad Commission and the Social Security Administration. She retired on disability in 1981 after 15 years of service. Survivors include her husband, Allan Ray; a son, Robert Del Smith of Borger; two daughters, Tracie Clarke of El Reno, Okla., and Susan Levick of El Paso; a brother, Wayne Renfroe of Diamond Dale, Mich.; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa, TX 79065. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 28, 2001 Jack Cauble VEGA - Jack Cauble, 95, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Vega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Cox, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Cauble was born in Albany but had lived in the Vega area for more than 30 years. He was a longtime foreman and ranch hand. He married Gladys Collett at Eagle Pass in 1935. He was a Christian. He collected arrowheads and Indian artifacts. He went to Heaven on his 95th birthday. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Carl Cauble in 1987. Survivors include his wife, Gladys; a son, Jack "Brother" Cauble of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Peggy Cox of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 28, 2001 Amarillo Wilma Hinds Wilma Hinds, 85, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in White Deer Cemetery at White Deer with the Rev. Jerry Young, Covenant of Joy Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Hinds was an Amarillo resident for eight years after spending the wonder years of her life in Ulysses, Kan., Liberal, Kan., and Borger. She was a Christian and a homemaker. She married C.L. Hinds on May 5, 1935, in Borger. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 6, 1995; a son, Norman, on April 6, 1999; and a great-grandson, Billy Reeves, on May 6, 1995. Survivors include a son, Gary Hinds and wife, Rosemary, of Hugoton, Kan.; a daughter, Loretta Vanderlinden and husband, Johnny; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Sanchez; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; "her girls," Cindy Reeves and Sharon Brumley; and a loving family. He retired as a truck driver after 42 years from Farmland Industries. He married Billie Davis on Sept. 28, 1956, in Amarillo. He was a member of Arden Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 3, 1980. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Childress Cemetery at Childress by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Killingsworth was born in Gilmer and had most recently lived in Mountain View, Okla., for six years prior to living in Amarillo and Clarendon. She was a homemaker and was a member of Church of Christ in Mountain View, Central Church of Christ in Amarillo and Church of Christ in Clarendon. She was also a member of AARP. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted James Wheeler in 1975; and her second husband, Claude Killingsworth. Survivors include four sons, Buford Glenn Wheeler of Amarillo, Danny Wheeler and Bill Wheeler, both of Mount View, and Eddie Wheeler of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Laura Waren of Fort Worth, Clariece Beall of Clarendon and Colene Borger of Amarillo; a sister, Hazel Holloway of Greenville; a brother, Buford Haltom; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He graduated from Tascosa High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. After studying at Hardin-Simmons, he enlisted in the Navy and served in Vietnam. After his military service, he attended and graduated from the University of Houston where he received his degree in business. While at the University of Houston, he was a member of Pershing Rifles and served as president of the Economics and Finance Committee. He was the former president and owner of Prince Petroleum at Tulsa and was most recently affiliated with Allied Van Lines. Survivors include two sons, Stephen Oliver Sutton and Stephen Dean Sutton, both of Tulsa; his parents, Frances and C.O. Sutton of Amarillo; two sisters, Jan Sutton Heineman and husband, Robert, of Colleyville and Donna Sutton of Irving; and two nephews, Taylor Heineman and Parker Heineman, both of Colleyville. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 28, 2001 Elsewhere V.V. Kniesley SAN DIEGO, Calif. - V.V. Kniesley, 86, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001. Cremation was handled by the Neptune Society with ashes scattered at sea. Dr. Kniesley died at Wesley Palms Retirement Community in San Diego where he and his wife Emma Jean had lived for one year. He lived in Amarillo from 1950 to 1959 where he was vice principal at Amarillo High School and director of guidance and curriculum for Amarillo city schools. He had been a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and was one of the founding members of St. Paul Methodist Church. He held a master's degree from the University of Texas in Austin and a doctorate in philosophy from Ohio State University. He later moved to San Bernardino where he was assistant superintendent of schools and was active in civic and educational affairs there for 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II in which he served with the Mediterranean Headquarters of the 15th Air Force in Italy. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pat Warren and husband, Max, of San Diego; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, Oct. 28, 2001 Vallie Martin LUBBOCK - Vallie Martin, 96, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. John Ballard officiating. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mrs. Martin was born May 10, 1905, in Eric, Okla., to the late T.O. Funderburg and Elsie Lithium Funderburg. She married W.L. Martin on May 5, 1921, in Eric. Survivors include two sons, Joe Bob Martin and Jerry Don Martin, both of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Freida Kelley of Dallas and Joy Taylor of Flower Mound; a son, Bill Cross of Irving; four sisters, Thelma Hinton, Dorothy Klepper and Helen Lollar, all of Borger, and Louise James of Mineola; two brothers, Roy Holland of Quanah and Fred Holland of Bryan; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mr. Long was born on May 1, 1904, in Oklahoma to Arthur Long and Ida (Neill) Long. He was a lifelong resident of Union County. Survivors include two sons, Jesse Long of Clayton and Glen Long of Texico; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
