Osage St., in Amarillo. Mr. Boyd was a construction worker and retired in 1987. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1952. He was a blacksmith, horseshoer, mechanic and welder most of his life. In the past 45 years he had begun making fiddles and had completed 17 for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 7, 1991. Survivors include three sons, Harold Landrum of Lubbock, T.S. Landrum Jr. of Ninnekah, Okla., and Joe Landrum of Shamrock; a daughter, Margaret May of Weatherford; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Balke was born in Schulenburg and had been an Amarillo resident since 1961. He married Beth Posey in 1954 at Ardmore, Okla. He graduated from Texas A&M University and the Hermann Hospital School of Physical Therapy. He worked at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco before moving to Amarillo to serve as the executive director for the Amarillo Cerebral Palsy Treatment Center. He had the opportunity to see the center grow and expand to its present location in the Harrington Regional Medical Center. It is now known as the Children's Rehabilitation Center. During his career he also served many patients in nursing homes as well as home health care. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kyle Balke and wife, Jan of Amarillo and Kirk Balke of Clarendon; two brothers, Bennie K. Balke of Niwot, Colo., and Frank B. Balke of Lake Charles, La.; and two grandchildren, Emily Balke and Brad Balke, both of Amarillo. She retired from IBP in 1996 after 20 years as a computer analyst. She was also an exceptional seamstress, quilter and gardener. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Braden Vetesk. Mrs. Doose was born in Manila, Philippines, and moved to Amarillo in 1924. She married Lawrence H. Doose on May 26, 1934. She was a homemaker and member of Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 28, 2001 Ocoee Parsons Holt Ocoee Parsons Holt, 91, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, in Lubbock. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Canyon with Chaplin Carroll L. Johnson, retired minister, and Dr. Strauss Atkinson, pastor emeritus, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Gatesville City Cemetery at Gatesville with Dr. Lee Johnson officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Holt was born Jan. 17, 1910, in Coryell County, to Cloyes Albert and Ione Bates Johnson Parsons. She graduated from Gatesville High School and attended John Tarlton Junior College, North Texas State University at Denton, and West Texas State University in Canyon where she received her bachelors degree in 1942 and her master's in 1945. She was a member of all local and state professional education associations and recognized in Outstanding Educators of America. She taught for 43 years before retiring. She served as a consultant for three years and was a visiting professor at West Texas A&M. She taught at the elementary level at Canyon and was curriculum supervisor. She then worked with Region 16 Educational Service Center in Amarillo. While at Region 16 she was director of the special education division, director of the Head Start Program, established kindergarten programs in the region, and was an elementary curriculum specialist. She served on several state committees in the educational field. She also worked at the national level representing Region 16. She was active in community service and many organizations. She was a member of various clubs and auxiliaries including serving as vice president of the Resident's Council at Carillon Senior Living Campus in Lubbock. She was also a member of Alpha Sigma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Friendly Reviewers Book Club, Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae, Lubbock Retired Teachers Association, and Lubbock Garden Club. The Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae founded the Ocoee Holt Scholarship Fund where a scholarship is presented annually to a member of West Texas A&M Zeta Tau Alpha. She received state recognition in 1978 by Zeta Tau Alpha. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church of Lubbock. She was a past member of First Baptist Church in Canyon where she was active, holding many offices and serving on various committees. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Holt in 1972; three sisters, Avis Parsons, Reva Parsons McCurry and Neva Parsons Haney; and a brother, Cloyes Albert Parsons Jr. Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Holt Cotton, Georgia Holt Blackwell and Carol Ann Holt Root, all of Canyon; four grandchildren, Vanessa Cotton Markham of Plano, Celia Cotton Winchell of Dallas, and Stephanie Ann Dawdy and Tom Douglas Dawdy, both of Amarillo; three great-grandchildren, Scott Markham of Plano, and Britain Winchell and Barrett Winchell, both of Dallas. Jeff Conway, senior pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Scott was born in Greenwood, Miss., and moved with his family to Arrowhead Ranch north of Amarillo in 1926. He married Dorothy Duncan in Amarillo in 1940 and was widowed in 1995. They reared three children, Stephen Scott Jr., Marshall Scott, and Martha Stocker. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Jr. in 1989. He was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and served in the Army from 1943-1946 and was overseas a good part of that time. He was employed with a natural gas transmission company, Colorado Interstate Gas/Coastal, for 40 years. He was a Potter County Commissioner for four years and a real estate broker for 20 years. Mr. Scott built a small store and gasoline station adjacent to Colorado Interstate Gas, 32 miles north of Amarillo. He also established a Post Office in Masterson and served as Postmaster servicing Exell Helium and ranches in north Potter and south Moore counties. He married Gloria Suzanne Usry on June 14, 1997, in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son Marshall Scott; a daughter, Martha Stocker; four grandchildren, Stephen Scott III, Jennifer Scott, Zachary Stocker, and Julie Stocker; a son-in-law Richard Stocker; three stepchildren, Larry, Steven Richmond, and Janice LaRue; four stepgrandchildren, Michael Richmond, Shane Richmond, Erin Ross, and William England; and a step great-granddaughter, Autumn Richmond.
