Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Garcia was born Nov. 3, 1952, in Lubbock. She was a Dumas resident since 1967. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Dumas. She married Jesse Garcia on Aug. 6, 1972, in Johnson, Kan. She graduated from Dumas High School in 1972. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father, Guadalupe R. Trevino, on May 12, 1999. He was a member of the board of the Museum of the Plains. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Paramount Baptist Church. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Dr. Howard was raised in Panhandle and was a graduate of Panhandle High School. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1962 with a doctorate in veterinary medicine. He married Sharon Tyler in 1961 at Amarillo. Although his first vet practice was in Tulia, Dr. Howard owned and operated ASTA Animal Hospital and Western Animal in Amarillo for many years until his retirement in 1996. After retirement, Dr. Howard did substitute teaching at Randall High School. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and past president of the Amarillo Veterinary Association. He served on the advisory board of Frank Phillips Jr. College and the board of directors for the Texas State Veterinary Board. He was a charter member of Big Brothers-Big Sisters in Amarillo. He was a former area chairman of Duck's Unlimited in Amarillo. Dr. Howard also was a member of the Kiwanis, the Elk's Lodge and a member and Sunday school teacher at Paramount Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener, angler, as well as hunter. He was a wonderful husband, father, and "Big Daddy." He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robbie Johns in 1990, and Dean Howard in 2000. Max Motley, 68, of Amarillo, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church. He attended Wilson Elementary and Nixson Junior High and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1951. Mr. Motley graduated from Amarillo College with an associate of arts degree in 1953. He graduated from West Texas State College (1953-1957) with a bachelor's degree and master's degree. He was a member of Alpha Chi Honorary Fraternity. Mr. Motley received the Jaycee Honor for Young Man of the Year Award in 1964. He was past president and director for the Amarillo Day Nurseries, now Children's Learning Centers, the Amarillo Association of Insurance Agents, now Panhandle Area of Insurance Agents. He was vice president and past director of the Amarillo Board of Realtors. Mr. Motley was given an accolade by the Amarillo Globe-News for Sponsor of Youth Employment.He was a lifetime member of the Amarillo Heart Association and campaign chairman; Amarillo-Potter Chapter of Heart Association president from 1982-83; and Mended Hearts Chapter No. 54 president from 1989-90. He received the Golden Nail Summit Award in 1992. Mr. Motley was on the board of directors for the Amarillo Symphony, Amarillo Little Theatre, and Amarillo Knife and Fork Club. He was a founder friend of Fine Arts of WTSU and friend of the WTSU Library. He became a member of First Baptist Church in May 1951 and served as deacon in later years. He belonged to the Palo Duro Masonic Lodge and the 1239 Khiva Temple. He was a partner of Woodruff-Moore-Motley Insurance Agency. She graduated from Miami High School in 1934. She married Orville D. "O.D." Cordell in Panhandle on Oct. 14, 1939. She and her husband moved to Amarillo in 1955. She worked at Furr's Grocery Store as a deli manager for 11 years. Mrs. Cordell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and spiritual center of our family. She was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan David Cordell, Dec. 13, 1970; three brothers, Grady Bailey, Luke Bailey and Bob Bailey; and by two sisters, Laura Bell Bailey and Virginia Foreman. She married C.S. "Doc" Thompson in 1947 at Bell Street Church of Christ in Amarillo. She and her husband owned Modern Cleaners on the square in 1949 and bought Buffalo Cleaners in 1953. She started Home Day Care in 1979. Mrs. Thompson loved quilting and started the Golden Spread Quilting Guild of Canyon in 1988. She was a devoted wife and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, F.D. Ferguson. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 29, 2001 Michael William Bunnett DALLAS - Michael William Bunnett, 45, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, in El Paso. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today in Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. Mr. Bunnett was born May 22, 1956, to William and Sharon Bunnett. Mr. Bunnett died in an automobile accident near El Paso while traveling to California. Mike was a loving father of Blake and Christopher Bunnett of Amarillo. Mr. Bunnett was born in Los Angles, raised near the beaches of Southern California and later in Amarillo. Mike never lost his love for the sun and beach. Mike is remembered as a loving father, brother, son, and friend to many. Mike graduated from Amarillo High School and Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1979. For more than 20 years, Mike was a partner with his father at Bunnett & Associates. Mike's wit, creativity, passion and love of life will be missed by all. Mike's ever-growing relationships included a desire to become closer to God. Mike attended Highland Park Methodist Church. Survivors include his boys, Blake and Christopher; his parents, William and Sharon; his brothers, Bret, Brian, Brad and JJ; his niece, Harper; his nephews, Will, Luke, Jake, and Miller; and his ex-wife, Gina Norfleet.
