Mr. Walker was born in Hachita, N.M., and was raised on the Matador Ranch in Matador. During the Korean War he served in the Air Force in Korea. A cattleman, he had been the foreman of the Trinchera Ranch in Colorado. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge AF&AM and a member of the Scottish Rite. He married Barbara Ramsey in 1965 at Espanola, N.M. Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Mary Hampton of Hueneme Bay, Calif. The family suggest memorials be to a favorite charity. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark Moore of Amarillo; a daughter, Mindy West of Amarillo; his mother, Sylvia Moore of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Moore of Amarillo; a sister, Shirley Magina of Georgia; and six grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a member of the Gulfgate Christian Church in Houston. She was married to William Monteith in 1925. He died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and George. Mrs. Herring was born in Foyil, Okla., and graduated from Foyil High School. She moved to Borger in 1947. She was married to Ford Herring in 1958 at Borger. In 1963 they purchased a One Hour Martinizing in Borger. They retired in 1986 and moved to Pampa. He died in 1999. Mrs. Herring was a member of the Altrusa Club in Borger, the First Christian Church of Pampa and the Pampa Senior Citizens. Waggoner, both of Tyler. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Jan. 28, 2001 Bethel Beatrice Grumke PAYSON, Ariz. - Bethel Beatrice "Bea" Grumke, 84, of Young, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Tonto Village. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Messinger Payson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mountain Breeze Cemetery at Miami. Mrs. Grumke was born in Duke, Okla. A cosmetologist, she owned and operated Abby's Beauty Box in Scottsdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edwin Grumke; and two sons, Jerry L. Henson and, in January, Dwayne Floyd Grumke. Survivors include a granddaughter, Melody Dunkleberger of Chandler; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Jan. 28, 2001 Thelma Sheridan Hatfield DONIPHAN, Mo. - Thelma Sheridan Hatfield, 84, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Doniphan Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Whiteside officiating. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home. Mrs. Hatfield was born in Hooker, Okla. After graduating from high school in Hurley, Mo., she graduated from nursing school in 1936 and became the first public health nurse appointed by the state of Missouri. Commissioned in the Women's Army Corps in 1940, she later moved to Amarillo, Texas, and completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing. She worked at the Veteran's Administration Hospital until her retirement in 1965. She later lived in Paxton, Ill., and returned to Amarillo before moving to Austin, Texas, in 1996. She married Carl Thomas Hatfield in 1940. He died in 1993. Survivors include a son, James William Hatfield of Coppell, Texas; a daughter, Carla Hatfield Naylor of Austin; and four grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Jan. 28, 2001 Faenelia Hicks LAFAYETTE, La. - Faenelia Hicks, 82, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Moro Cemetery at Brownwood. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Miss Hicks was born in Brown County and graduated from Blanket High School. After receiving a home economics degree from Daniel Baker College and a master's from Texas Woman's University, she served in the Coast Guard SPARS and was a home economics professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette until her retirement. She was a member of Riverside Church of Christ at Lafayette and the Society for Louisiana Iris. Survivors include five cousins, Linnie Fox of Waco, Mary Jim Clark of Amarillo, Elton Gene Davis of Las Vegas, Harold Robinson of Sanford, Colo., and Betty Weedon of Brownwood. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
