Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City with Jim Hardaway, of Harvest Time Church, and Paul Carter, of Old Ocean Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sweeny Cemetery of Sweeny. Mr. Allen went to be with Jesus on Aug. 28, 2001, at Sweeny Community Hospital. Mr. Allen was born Aug. 9, 1921, to Benjamin Nim and Kate McIntosh Allen, in Denton Valley Community, Callahan County. Mr. Allen served in World War II with the Navy in the South Pacific. Mr. "Pat," as he was known, was a founding member of the Harvest Time Church in Van Vleck, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by a son, Charlie Tom Allen; a sister, Bennie Baumgart; and by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Leona Estelle Sharpes Allen of Sweeny; a daughter, Betty Allen McClain and husband, Robert, of Lake Jackson; sons, Alfred O'Neal "Neal" Allen and wife, Barbara Jean, of Racine, Wis., and Billy Wayne Allen and wife, Lisa, of Sweeny; a brother, W.L. "Dub" Allen and wife, Evelyn, of Abilene; a sister, Callie Carlile of San Angelo; grandchildren, Belva Gonsales of Clute, Sam McClain of Brazoria, Jeana Sousley and husband, Jason, of Santa Clara, Calif.; six great-granddaughters; a grandson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Daryl Birkenfeld, of Stratford, and the Rev. Ken Cole, of Spearman, officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Spearman. Mrs. Skinner was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She worked in a mobile army surgical hospital during World War II in Europe. She worked in the Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp. She was the first registered nurse in Hansford County and helped to start Hansford Hospital. She was a public health nurse, surgical nurse and a school nurse. Mrs. Skinner was instituted in licensed vocational nurse training at Hansford Hospital. She assisted with Medivac planning with Panhandle Regional Planning Commission. Mrs. Skinner nursed until her health prevented her from doing so. She was a Silva Mind Control instructor. She loved painting and playing bridge. She was past president of the Texas Nursing Association. Survivors include her husband, Robert V. Skinner; two sons, Mike Skinner and Bill Skinner, both of Spearman. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 30, 2001 Carlotta Elizabeth Davis CLARENDON - Carlotta Elizabeth "Lotta" Bourland Davis, 94, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, in Middleburg, Fla. Private graveside memorial services will be Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001. Mrs. Davis was born July 8, 1907, in Collingsworth County, on the Bourland Ranch near Quail, to William McElroy "Mack" and Bess Witt Bourland. She attended school in Clarendon. After graduating from Clarendon High School she assumed the duties of raising her five younger brothers because of the death of her mother in October 1925. In 1936, she moved to Lamesa and worked in Baldwin's Store until January of 1937. She attended Draughon's Business College in Fort Worth. She later worked in the office of Judge Lattimore. On Dec. 21, 1941, she married Denzel R. Davis. They moved to Beaumont, where her only son, James McRay Davis was born Jan. 20, 1943. Later moving to Port Arthur, she worked as a church secretary at Proctor Street Baptist Church for a number of years. She also worked in the Port Arthur school as a school secretary. After the deaths of her husband in 1973 and her son in 1999, she sold her home and moved to College Station to live with her niece, Dr. Lynn B. White. She was with her daughter-in-law, Carolyn R. Davis and her granddaughter and grandson and their children when she died. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Proctor Street Baptist Church in Port Arthur. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; six brothers; her husband; and her son. Survivors include two brothers, Fred W. Bourland of San Angelo and W. George Bourland of Dallas; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Rouly Davis of Middleburg; her granddaughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Sean Nolan and their children, Josh, Zach, Ellissa, Brody and Brianna of Middleburg; her grandson and wife, Mark and Rachel Davis and their children, Kayla and Skyler of Jacksonville, Fla.; her grandson and wife, Marty and Cathy Davis and their children, Gerald, Billy and Kristen Smith-Davis of Middleburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews; and two great-great-grandnieces. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Dr. Hamilton was born in Anson on July 24, 1923. He attended Lubbock High School and graduated in 1941. Following graduation he attended Texas Tech for one year leading to enlistment in the Army Air Corp. He served 31/2 years during World War II. He returned home to Lubbock with a wife, Helen Marie Keese Hamilton. He later returned to Texas Tech, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1953 and a master's degree in 1954. Eventually he added a master's degree in science in 1975 and became a doctor of education in 1986. As a result of being a teaching assistant, he was asked to teach in the accounting department at Texas Tech, where he taught for several years on a part-time basis. He fell in love with teaching. He taught computer science at South Plains Junior College and came to Amarillo College in 1970 as department chairman for computer science. He spent the last 20 years before retirement in August 1990 doing what he loved best, teaching computer science to eager students. Dr. Hamilton and his wife of 57 years, Helen, parented two children: William Morris Hamilton of New York City and Sue Marie Hamilton of Amarillo. Dr. Hamilton worked for many years with the Association for Computer Educators in Texas, serving in many offices including the presidency. After retirement, Dr. Hamilton enjoyed volunteer work including Meals on Wheels, the H.O.S.T.S. program in the public schools and manning the reception desk in the administration building at his beloved Amarillo College. He also served as president of the Amarillo Retired Teachers Association. He and his wife particularly enjoyed traveling. Dr. Hamilton was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. His other affiliations included honorary lifetime member of ACETS, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, he was initiated into Phi Delta Kappa International in 1976, and was a member of the International Speakers Association. Survivors include his wife and two children; a sister-in-law, Anita Hamilton of Austin; two nieces; three great-nephews; and a great-niece, all of Austin. Dr. Hamilton felt that flowers fade and are gone but a scholarship can change lives forever! The family requests no flowers. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Graham was born in Odessa on Jan. 25, 1961. She attended Permian High School, San Marcos Academy and graduated with a nursing degree from Amarillo College in May of 1994. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Our beloved Katty Marie Graham left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father on Aug. 27, 2001. Katty worked for a short period in the Amarillo area until she married Charles Malcom Graham of Andrews on Sept. 25, 1994. The couple resided in Andrews and Odessa prior to moving back to Amarillo in February 2001 to be close to her family and loved ones. Katty was a devote mother and adored her young daughters, Shannah and Charlie. She took great pride in her personal appearance and that of her girls, and showed great concern for their well being. She loved her home and having her stepdaughters at home for holidays and special family gatherings. Her husband, Charles, filled a great part of her heart and life. "She had a gentle touch," were the words he used to describe her. For those who knew and loved Katty, family was important. Katty was especially close to her grandmother, Bonnie Hutson, and loved doting over her. Times she spent with her brother Bo David and close friend Kelly Henley were priceless. She possessed a strong bond with her cousins. She had a beautiful heart and was precious to her mother and PaPa. Never to be forgotten, we will miss our Katty Marie, our "charming daughter." Katty was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, A.K. Hutson; and a cousin, Michael Jordan Hutson. Katty leaves behind her loving husband, Charlie Graham; two cherished daughters, Shannah Marie George, age 12, and Charles Rhea "Charlie" Graham, age 4; two stepdaughters, Jamie and Katy Graham of Arlington; her mother and dad, Patty and John Pool of Amarillo; her father and stepmother, David and Judy Brown of Euless; a brother, Bo David Brown and wife, Amber, of Lewisville; a stepbrother, Reggie Pool of Aptos, Calif.; and nephew, Sean of Aptos; a stepsister, Sheri Weaver and husband, Ken, of Beaumont; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Hutson of Amarillo; and J.L. LaNelle graduated from high school in Borger, Texas, in 1954. She attended Stephens College in Missouri. She moved to Norman, Okla., where she raised her children. She owned and operated LaNee's Antiques with her mother and her daughter in Norman, Okla. She moved to Pagosa Springs from Amarillo in 1996, then to Albuquerque in 2000. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon from 1953 to 1991 and was then a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 13, 1991.
