He was a mechanic for Agrium Co. Mrs. Phillips was born Oct. 23, 1913, in Montague County. She had worked as a waitress and restaurant owner in Lubbock and Amarillo. "Dusty" Rhoades PANHANDLE - Karlos A. "Dusty" Rhoades, 69, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathryn Boren, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Rhoades was born Oct. 22, 1932, in Amarillo and attended school in White Deer. He joined the Navy in 1950, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He served aboard the aircraft carrier Laty Gulf, the cruiserUSS Galveston and the destroyer USS Laffey. He retired in 1970 at the rank of chief petty officer. He taught at Great Lakes Naval School. He married Madge Clawson on Sept. 2, 1954, at Charlotte, S.C. He was a member of James McCaskey VFW Post No. 6972 in Panhandle and Fleet Reserve Association Post 9 of Virginia Beach, Va. He was a Methodist. He was a long- distance truck driver, owning his own tractor and trailer. He covered most of the United States for 29 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters. Survivors include his wife; a son, Keith Rhoades of Virginia Beach; and two sisters, Dorcas Weatherred of Plainview and Jeri Osborne of Panhandle. Besides her family, Katy's greatest joy was her ranching heritage and the people involved in the livestock industry. Mrs. Hinds was an Amarillo resident for eight years after spending the wonder years of her life in Ulysses, Kan., Liberal, Kan., and Borger. She was a Christian and a homemaker. She married C.L. Hinds on May 5, 1935, in Borger. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 6, 1995; a son, Norman, on April 6, 1999; and a great-grandson, Billy Reeves, on May 6, 1995. She had worked in the housekeeping department of St. Anthony's Hospital and Bivins Nursing Home before her retirement. She married Ralph Warren in 1975 at Portales, N.M. She was a former member of Buchanan Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Garland Lincycomb, in 1972 and three sons, Lowell Lincycomb, Darrell Lincycomb and Chris Lincycomb. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary. Mrs. Salguero moved to Portales in 1953 from Fort Sumner. She was known in the community for the loving care she gave the children she cared for in her home in the later years of her life. Survivors include four sons, Delfino "Pino" Salguero and Richard Salguero, both of Albuquerque, Raymond Salguero of Liberal, Kan., and Antonio "Tony" Salguero of Portales; three daughters, Emma Baca and Leonela "Leo" Baca, both of Portales and Patricia Lucero of Amarillo, Texas; 33 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Hutcherson was born Aug. 7, 1934, at Memphis, to Alfred Ellis and Ida Pearl Solomon Hutcherson. He was a member of Canton Lions Club and was past president of Memphis Lions Club. He was a Lion for more than 30 years and served on the Memphis City Council for 10 years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Canton. He was a retired member of the Memphis and Canton volunteer fire departments with more than 35 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Crawford Hutcherson of Canton; a son, Rayford Mark Hutcherson and wife, Diane of Waco; a daughter, Sonja Lynn Moore and husband, Bill of College Station; three sisters, Athalee Beckham of Floydada, Dorothy Patton of Farmers Branch and Velma Jo Montgomery of Memphis; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Crawford; and three grandchildren, Cheryl Lynn Hutcherson, Ashley Nicole Moore and Cody Ellis Moore.
