Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 30, 2001 Tim Goddard DUMAS - Tim "Tye" Goddard, 36, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Dumas with the Rev. Roger Orr, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Dumas, and the Rev. John Wagoner, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Goddard was a resident of Dumas most of his life. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1983. He had been a resident of Plainview for the past month and was a former resident of Abilene. He earned his commercial pilot's license about four years ago and was working for KLLR Spraying Services in Plainview. While at Dumas High School, he was involved in golf, FFA and many other activities. He lived passionately and tried to inspire others to do as well. Survivors include his fiancee, Misti Watts of Wellington; his parents, Sue and Sonny Kitchens of Dumas and Vance and Chris Goddard of Abilene; his grandmothers, Nina Goddard of Abilene and Edna Kitchens of Haskell; three brothers, Scott Goddard of Dumas, Joe Kitchens of Amarillo and Jason Hetherington of Cedar Park; a sister, Kim Powers of Cedar Park; two nephews; two nieces; and many friends. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 30, 2001 Dustin Lee Campbell Friona - Dustin Lee Campbell, 18, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Friona with the Rev. Mark Stovall, pastor, and the Rev. Wade Messer of Robert Lee, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Campbell was born Feb. 25, 1983, in Friona and lived his life there. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Friona. He was a 2001 graduate of Friona High School where he was active in football, baseball, power lifting, science club, industrial arts club, FFA and student council. He was class treasurer his sophomore year and class president his junior year. He was selected all-district defensive tackle his senior year. He was selected most cheerful at FHS and nominated Mr. FFA his senior year. He was currently a freshman student at Texas Tech University. He died early Saturday morning at Breckenridge Hospital in Austin from injuries received in a one-car rollover near Austin. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Campbell, on June 14, 2000. Survivors include his parents, Danny and Holly Campbell of Friona; his grandparents, Vernell Campbell of Fritch and Dale and Laura Hart of Friona; and a brother, Stephen Campbell of Friona. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 30, 2001 Thomas James Barclay VEGA - Thomas James Barclay, 75, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001. A private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Vega by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Barclay was born in Grimes, Okla., and had resided in Vega for most of his life. He was a farmer. He served as water superintendent of Vega and had served on the city commission of Vega for two terms. He was a member of Vega Mason Lodge No. 899, the Order of the Eastern Star at Vega and Vega United Methodist Church. He married Claudine Price on Feb. 27, 1944, in Santa Rosa, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 11, 2000. Mr. Salinas was born in Hereford on June 27, 1973. He moved to Odessa in 1980 and to Amarillo in 1986. He met Jennifer Jimenez in 1991. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1992 and married Jennifer in 1993. He was a member of St. Laurence Cathedral. He was a truck driver for Amarillo Custom Box Co. He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Antonio Salinas on March 31, 1994. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer; two sons, Juan A. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 30, 2001 Charles W. Elliott Charles W. "Shorty or Charlie" Elliott, 83, of Amarillo, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Terry Sparks, pastor of Community of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Elliott was born Nov. 10, 1917, in Tucumcari, N.M. He moved to Amarillo in 1947 and married June in 1967. He served in World War II in Germany and France receiving the Purple Heart. He was a member of the D.A.V. He was employed in construction more than 35 years. He retired from E.Z. Tight Caulking and Weatherstripping. After retirement, he worked for Globe Security at Amarillo International Airport. He served as a volunteer at the food bank. He was a loving husband and exceptional Dad and Grandpa. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Mixon; a grandson, Greg Elliott; and a great-granddaughter, Bailee Langham. Survivors include his wife, June; two sons, Charles Elliott of Spearman and Bobby Elliott of Amarillo; three daughters, Ann Irwin of Amarillo, D.J. Georgia St. Mr. Bryant was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1975. While attending Amarillo High School, he lettered in wrestling. He received an engineering degree from Texas A&M. He worked as an electrical contractor. He was active in fund-raising for the March of Dimes and Parents Anonymous to prevent child abuse. His talents were many but he excelled in art. He was a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by all of his grandparents. Ms. Harden was born Feb. 8, 1981, to John Tilton of Mobile, Ala., and Karen Young Harden of Jennings, La., in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. She was a sophomore at LSU and was making plans to marry Justin Courville who is attending LSU in Baton Rouge. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 30, 2001 Bill Wood LITTLEFIELD - Bill Wood, 83, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Silverton Cemetery of Silverton with Loran Harper, minister of Comanche Trail Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by George C. Price Funeral Directors of Levelland. Mr. Wood was born on Oct. 15, 1917, in Silverton. He attended school in Silverton and Canyon. He worked for the JA Ranch in 1932 and served in the Army during the Pacific campaign in World War II. He married Lorine Moser on April 12, 1946, in Clovis, N.M. He farmed in the Hereford area after the war. In 1949, he moved to the Texline area and farmed there until 1970. He moved to Channing in 1970 and farmed and ranched for R.H. Fulton. He retired in 1985. He moved to Amarillo in 1995 and then to Littlefield in 2001 from Levelland. He was a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 27, 1985. Survivors include a son, Billie R. Wood of Amarillo; a daughter, Dee Skelton of Whiteface; a grandson, Clint Wood of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Bonnie Skelton and Melissa Skelton Brooker, both of Whiteface; two great-grandchildren, Baily Brooker and Laney Brooker, both of Whiteface. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 30, 2001 Thomas Dixon Horne AUSTIN - Thomas "Tommy" Dixon Horne, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2001. Memorial graveside services will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001, at Lawn Haven Memorial Garden Cemetery at Clovis, N.M. Arrangements are by Austin-Peel and Son Funeral Home. Mr. Horne was born Oct. 13, 1925, in San Jon, N.M., to Thomas William Horne and Joy Goddard Horne. During World War II, he joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific. He returned to New Mexico after the war and began a long career in the grocery business. He married Clare Wilson in New Westminister, Canada, on July 17, 1950. His work took them to jobs in Tucumcari, N.M., Clovis, Amarillo, Dumas and Monahans. After retiring, he moved to Marble Falls. Survivors include his wife, Clare; a daughter, Joy Gooden and husband, Cal, of Austin; two sons, Tom W. Horne and wife, Dorothy, of Palmdale, Calif., and Tony Horne and wife, Kammy, of Germantown, Md.; a brother, Jack Horne of Santa Fe, N.M.; and three grandsons, Kerry and Ryan Gooden of Austin and Moses Horne of Germantown, Md. Arrangements are by Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory. Mrs. Long was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Whitewright, Texas, to George W. Jones and Willie Fleeman Jones. She moved to Bella Vista 14 years ago from Amarillo. She was a member of the Bella Vista Christian Church. She loved to play bridge with the church group and was a member of the Neighborhood Bible Study Group. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Homer Long; a son, Steven Ray Long of Bella Vista; a daughter, Lisa Oliver and husband, Charles Jr., of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. He moved from Amarillo to Grapevine in 1991. Bill was a graduate of Texas Tech University. He was a real estate broker and worked as staff support for American Airlines. Bill fought a courageous battle against multiple myeloma. He will be remembered for his enthusiastic and generous spirit, his love for family and friends, and his zest for life.
