Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Meek was born July 13, 1921, in Inez, Ky. She married Leo L. Meek on Jan. 26, 1946, in Prestonsburg, Ky. She was a Dumas resident since 1946 and lived in Lake Ozark, Mo., for the past three years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; and two brothers, Jim and Pearl Goble. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Robert L. Meek of Odessa and Dr. William D. Meek of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a daughter, Mary Jo Ferrell of Lake Ozark; two sisters, Romaine Kirk of Inez and Rushie Webb of Huntington, W.Va.; a sister-in-law, Verna White of Dumas; five grandsons; and two granddaughters. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Friona Cemetery of Friona by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Slagle was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Stratford. She had been a Dumas resident since 1978. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Slagle was preceded in death by her husband, Tilden Slagle, in 1968; a son, Roy Slagle, in 1990; and by a daughter, Audrey Thomas, in 1993. Survivors include a son, Paul Slagle of Dumas; a sister, Demetrice Brigance of Clifton; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Charles "Tex" Mayfield, 49, formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, in Chillicothe, Ohio. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Mayfield was born and raised in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He was an Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Mayfield was preceded in death by two brothers, Weldon Mayfield and Terry Mayfield; and by two nephews, Rodd Richmond and Christopher Cusenz. He was a research chemist at USEC in Piketon, Ohio. He was a member of Circleville Church of Christ. Mr. Mayfield had served as a Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 80. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Burch was born and raised in Clayton, N.M. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1972. He moved to Amarillo in 1972. He worked at Borden's Ice Cream, Bealls Department Store, Subway Restaurant, and Sitel Corp. Mr. Burch won many awards for participating in billiards and softball. He also enjoyed community service work and volunteering his time to help others. He married Lois Arnold on Dec. 31, 1990, at Vigo Park.
