Mr. Sturgess was born Dec. 1, 1949, at Frederick, Okla. He moved to Tulia in 1953 from Earth. He graduated from Tulia High School and attended West Texas State University in Canyon. He married Valerie Tipps on Dec. 31, 1981, at Tulia. He currently owned and operated Tulia Livestock Auction. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Elaine Sturgess of Tulia; a son, Allen Sturgess of Tulia; his father, James Sturgess of Tulia; and two brothers, Robert Sturgess of Tulia and Tim Sturgess of Lubbock. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. James McLeod, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Peeples entered the Navy at the height of the Depression. He received battleship commission in World War II and served under six admirals as a personal aide during World War II and Korea. His last tour spent at the Pentagon, he retired as a lieutenant commander after over 22 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a son, William Burgess Peeples of Lexington, Ky.; a daughter, Joyce Miner of Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Lola Estes of Wellington, and Mona Mellott and Estelle Gregory, both of Springfield, Ore.; a brother, Rex Peeples of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Bell moved to Amarillo in 1948 from Montague. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Lanell Barker on June 22, 1978, at Amarillo. He worked as a carpenter and was also a general contractor. He was in business with his son, Ronnie, as owner of Bell & Bell Builders. He was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. Mrs. Hinds was an Amarillo resident for eight years after spending the wonder years of her life in Ulysses, Kan., Liberal, Kan., and Borger. She was a Christian and a homemaker. She married C.L. Hinds on May 5, 1935, in Borger. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 6, 1993, a son, Norman on April 6, 1999; and a great-grandson, Billy Reeves, on May 6, 1995. Survivors include a son, Gary Hinds and wife, Rosemary, of Hugoton, Kan.; a daughter, Loretta Vanderlinden and husband, Johnny; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Sanchez; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; "her girls," Cindy Reeves and Sharon Brumley; and a loving family.
