Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Maupin lived his entire life in Gruver. He was a farmer, rancher and a member of First United Methodist Church of Gruver. He married Mickey Oquin on Dec. 22, 1972, in Stratford. He graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, Colo. He was a member of the Western State Mountaineer football team, the Gruver Lions Club and was a former board member of the Palo Duro River Authority. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men's Group. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Fran Maupin. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 6, 2002 Kenny Gearn Kenny Gearn, 80, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church of Hereford with the Rev. Mr. Gearn was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Harrison, Ark., the son of Walter and Bessie Gearn. He married Idie Robinson on Jan. 2, 1942, in Las Vegas. She preceded him in death in 2001 after 59 years of marriage. He then married Betty Littlejohn on Nov. 5, 2001, in Laughlin, Nev. He was in the Navy during World War II, serving aboard the destroyer, USS Ross in the Pacific. After being discharged from the Navy, he moved to Hereford in 1949 where he opened Kenny Gearn Machine Works which he owned and operated for 31 years. He was currently working with Gearn Industries in Hereford. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Hereford Masonic Lodge No. 849, the Khiva Temple of Amarillo, the Hereford Oasis Shrine Club and the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Hereford Lions Club, a charter member of the "Ding-A-Ling" social club, a member of the Hereford American Legion and a member, past deacon and past elder of First Presbyterian Church of Hereford. He was preceded in death by two sisters; and a brother. Mr. Morris was born in the Gem City Community on Nov. 1, 1932. He attended Blue Ridge School and graduated from Canadian High School. He married Jeanie Job on Sept. 20, 1953, in Woodward, Okla. He was with Best Way Market for 35 years and owned and operated it from 1978 to 1993. He was a past member of the Lions Club, Canadian Rotary Club, Canadian Bass Club and served on the board of directors for Tri-State Bakery with Affiliated Foods. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Wheeler Bass Club. He was an avid sportsman. He was preceded in death by a son, David Morris in 1979; and a brother, Kenneth Morris in 1968. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad as an engineer. He was a rancher, farmer and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He proudly served his country in World War II as a member of the 727th Amphibian Tractor Battalion, landing in New Guinea, Philippines and Borneo. After the war, he graduated from Texas Tech University with a mechanical engineering degree. He worked 36 years at Amarillo Gear Co., becoming general manager in 1969, and the president for almost 20 years until his retirement in 2000. He was active in the community throughout his life, serving and holding offices on numerous boards for local businesses, colleges, Lake Tanglewood, the city of Amarillo and the State of Texas. He was a member of the Lake Tanglewood Downtown Kiwanis Club. For 15 years, he and his wife gave over their home to host a day of the annual Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camp. He married Joann Holloman in 1947. She died in 1981. He married Gloria Parks in 1983, and she died in 2000. He then married Ruth Daniel in 2001. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Davis Pyeatt; a sister, Lora Thompson; and two brothers, Oley Pyeatt and Glen Pyeatt. He returned to Amarillo in 1951 where he started, owned and operated Hallmark Builders from 1953 to 1999. In 1957, he married Helene Harris in Denver. He was active with the Royal Ambassadors. He was a member of Rotary International in Amarillo for many years. Arrangements are by Moore & Sons Funeral Home of Arlington. Mr. Carlile was born March 20, 1962, in Amarillo and died in Arlington after a courageous battle with urachael cancer. After attending Tulia High School, he graduated from South Plains College. He became vice president of Texas Greenhouse Co. in Fort Worth where he developed Kelstar Greenhouse Installations, EZ Kool Misting Systems and Main Street Powder Coating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery of Clay Center by Harrell Funeral Home of Elkhart. Mrs. Haverkamp was born March 13, 1915, in Clay Center to Fred and Esther Forslund Lathrop. She attended and graduated from the Clay Center schools. She went on to attend Fort Hays State University for four years and received her teaching degree. On Sept. 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Clarence Haverkamp in Manhattan, Kan. This union was blessed with three sons, Delton, Carroll and Bryce. She taught school east of Elkhart and at Linn, Kan. She enjoyed sewing and traveling. He was a retired linen supply company manager with 30 years of service. He was also a retired welding supply purchasing agent. He was a resident of Fort Worth since 1944. He was a veteran of the Army Air Force during World War II and graduated from TCU. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Frances; a son, Steve Weatherly and wife, Donna, of Fort Worth; a daughter, Ann Weatherly Russom and husband, Jim, of Fort Worth; a twin brother, Doyle Weatherly of Missouri; a brother, Winn Weatherly and wife, Carmen, of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and many other loved ones.
