Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. George was born Feb. 23, 1926, in Roger Mills County, Okla. He married Alene Evans on Dec. 16, 1949, in Wheeler. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. He was a letter carrier with the Postal Service for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of Bible Church of Pampa, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, National Association of Letter Carriers and AARP. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Milton George. Mrs. Johnson was born in Fort Morgan, Colo., on Dec. 22, 1934, to C.D. and Ruth Garver. She attended Fort Morgan High School and graduated in 1953. She was employed by Wells Lamont Glove Factory. She married Bill Johnson on Aug. 1, 1954, at First Christian Church in Fort Morgan. They followed his work in the oil field in several states before moving to Darrouzett where they have made their home for the last 35 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Royal Neighbors of America and a former member of Order of the Eastern Star. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Garver of Fort Morgan; and a brother, Gordon Garver of Fort Morgan. Survivors include her husband, Bill Johnson; three daughters, Cheryl Trenfield and husband, Steve, of Amarillo, Cathy Collar and husband, Randy, of Darrouzett and Christina Laurie and husband, Lance, of Booker; her father, C.D. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 17, 2002 Mary Wynelle Henry Chillders Mary Wynelle Henry Chillders, 82, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Richards of the church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Chillders was born in Winnsboro on March 13, 1919, the daughter of Earl Everett and Esther Merle Christian Henry. She married Luel Virgal Chillders on Oct. 30, 1933. They have been residents of Amarillo for about 60 years. At the time of her death, she taught the Nurse Aide Registry Training Program for the Texas Department of Health, Texas Education Agency and Amarillo College. She has been continued education coordinator and instructor for Amarillo College since 1972 and completed teaching classes through 2001. From 1972 to 1995, she was an instructor in medication administration and medical terminology at Amarillo College. She continued to coordinate and be primary instructor for the annual medication administration refresher courses required for state licensure each year. A member of American Indian Relief Council, she was a founding member of both Ellis Island Foundation and England's Air Museum. She held numerous offices in Licensed Vocational Nurses Association of Texas, and was organizing president of Geriatric Nurse Conference Group in 1974. From 1968 to 1980 she served as an American Red Cross Disaster Nurse. Founder of Jackie Sims Memorial Revolving Scholarship, she was a troop leader for Girl Scouts of America. She served as president of American Lung Association of Texas, Beta Sigma Phi and Palo Duro Chapter of American Toastmasters. In 1999, she became a charter member of World War Il Memorial Society. Her long and active career began in 1946 as co-owner of Chillders Plumbing and Heating Company. Also during this time, she was owner and administrator of Twilight Nursing Home. She worked as a private duty nurse from 1967 to 1969, when she began working as supervisor and director of nursing services at Medical Drive Convalescent Center in Amarillo. From 1972 to 1977 she was director of nursing service at MediPark Care Center and served on the board of directors during that time. Appointed to the State Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners in 1976, she served as vice president from 1980 to 1981. She was an adviser to Kenneth Robert McDonalds Inc. in 1984. From then until 1987, she served as a consultant to Plastic Guns Inc. and Christian County Kentucky Oil Co. Concurrently, she was on the board of Byron McDonalds Inc. She was active in state and federal political activities, receiving numerous citations of appreciation for her work, including being named by Governor Ann Richards as a Yellow Rose of Texas. She has been cited in numerous biographical references including Community Leaders of America, International Who's Who of Intellectuals, Personalities of America, 2000 Notable American Women and Who's Who of Professional and Executive Women. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Peggy Jeanne Jansen of Amarillo, Patricia Ann Haddock of Van Alstyne and Mary Ellen McDonald of Fort Worth; a son, Luel Virgal Chillders II of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Durward Earl Henry of Bullard. She is further survived by hundreds of students from her classes, whom she also called "my kids." The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Pritchett was born March 5, 1939, in Lamesa. He had lived in Amarillo for 50 years. He married Marcia Latrell Sinks on Jan. 11, 1958, in Amarillo. He was a Baptist. He worked as merchandising manager for Toot'n Totum for more than 15 years, and after that served as food supervisor at the Dalhart Prison. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lanetta Wright of Amarillo; two sons, Forrest Pritchett and Monty Pritchett, both of Amarillo; four sisters, Doris Poe of Littleton, Colo., and Pat Rabe, Brenda Harris and Nancy Collins, all of Dallas; a brother, Bobby Pritchett of Dallas; and 10 grandchildren. Mrs. Jennings was a graduate of Causey, N.M., High School. She was a homemaker. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 17, 2002 Charles Douglas Long - Charles Douglas Long, 55, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, in Abilene. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church. Burial will be in North Belton Cemetery by Heartfield Funeral Home. Mr. Long died suddenly of a heart attack during a wonderful weekend that celebrated the marriage of a niece in Abilene. He was born April 1, 1946, in Pampa, to Imogene and J.B. "Jake" Long. He grew up in Abilene in a loving Christian home and became a Christian at a young age. He was a 1964 Abilene High School graduate. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University five years later. He was drafted into the Army after graduation, serving a span of 18 months. He moved to Lubbock after his Army service ended and attended graduate classes at Texas Tech University. He met his future wife, Sarah Janell Bonner, also a Texas Tech student, during a blind date in 1971. The meeting turned into a long lasting relationship. Their 29-year marriage started after their May 20, 1972, wedding in Odessa. The couple resided in numerous towns before Belton became their home. They lived in Brady from 1973 to 1974, in Tuscola from 1974 to 1976 and in Abilene from 1976 to 1980. Jake, the couple's son and an Amarillo Globe-News staff writer, was born in 1976 at Abilene. In 1980, the family moved to Waco and three years later daughter Sarah was born. During the summer of 1984, the Longs moved to Belton from Waco. Mr. Long was a longtime businessman in the food business. Before his death, he was a buyer and sales representative with Home Town Wholesale in Belton. His interests ranged from church activities to sports. His easy- going personality and the smiles he put on people's faces will be missed. He will always be remembered for his humility, generosity, giving spirit, sense of humor and caring attitude. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jake Long of Amarillo; a daughter, Sarah Long of Belton; a sister, Linda Frizzell of Abilene; two brothers, Garland Long of Amarillo and A.D. Long of Plano; his stepfather, James D. Norwood of Abilene; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Belton Christian Youth Center or American Heart Association. Mr. Hale moved to Guymon from Memphis, Tenn., in 1995. He had managed Guymon Econo Storage for the past five years.
