Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Miss Esquivel was born in Juarez, Mexico. She attended Palo Duro High School and played the violin in the orchestra. She was employed at Sonic. Survivors include her mother, Silvia Morales of Amarillo; her father, Jose Esquivel of Juarez; a brother, Jose Esquivel of Amarillo; her grandmother, Flora Reyes of Juarez; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She came to Amarillo in 1971. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Levi's and Lace Square Dance Club. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She married Dick Gregory on Oct. 19, 1996, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her father, Solon D. Johnson. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Vicki E. Huddleston of Dallas and Charlotte A. Honea of Amarillo; her mother, Erma Elaine Kingery Johnson of Artesia, N.M.; two sisters, Nell Gibson and husband, Jack, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Nadine Black and husband, G.C., of Andrews; and 13 grandchildren. Cope, 87, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in San Jacinto United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Cope was born in Enloe. She married Guy V. Cope. They moved to Lamesa in the early 1930s where she worked as a nurse. In the early 1960s they moved to Amarillo where she worked as a nurse and at the time of her retirement in 1998 she was a nurse for Dr. Woolsworth Russell. She was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996. Survivors include a son, Tom Cope and wife, Jan Muir, of Fairbanks, Alaska; a brother, John Henry Alexander of Thorndale; a sister, Virginia McCoy of Belton, Mo.; and a grandson, Tyler Cope of Fairbanks. He was a member of Wyatt Memorial/Community of Grace where he served as chairman of the trustee board, head usher and chairman of the building fund. He was an officer in Spring Chicken Senior Camp, a member of Opportunity School Board and on the board of directors of North Amarillo Kiwanis. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Amarillo Globe-News, Jan. 30, 2002 Ella Mae McClendon DALHART - Ella Mae McClendon, 80, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Taylor, minister of Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. McClendon was born Dec. 23, 1921, in Erick, Okla., to Martin and Clara Ludecke Doyle. She moved with her family to Dalhart in 1929. She graduated from Dalhart High School in 1940. She went to California and worked for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach where B-17 bombers were built during World War II. She returned to Dalhart in 1945 and on April 3, 1945, she married Joe McClendon. In 1968 he purchased Maytag Laundry. After his death in 1969, she continued to operate the laundry until 1983. Over 50 years ago her family built her a home on Tennessee Street and she has lived there since. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a granddaughter; five brothers; and four sisters. Survivors include two sons, Ron McClendon and wife, Charleen, of Trinidad, Colo., and Freddy McClendon of Amarillo; a daughter, Vickie Barrow and husband, David, of Pampa; her brother-in-law, Jack McClendon of Dalhart; two sisters, Joy Tomlin of Amarillo and Margie Burton of Fort Worth; seven grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
