Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mullins was born Dec. 30, 1909, in Vanoss, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ in Sunray. She married Ben F. Mullins on April 1, 1936, in Ada, Okla. She was a Sunray resident from 1962 to 1979. She lived in Stratford, Okla., from 1979 to 1992. She then moved back to Sunray in 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 21, 1978; and a son, Fred Mullins, on Oct. 30, 2000. "Jim" Moore, 80, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford with Johnny Eastep officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Mr. Moore was born May 12, 1921, in Lorenzo, the son of Dause and Josie Moore. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army as a military policeman. He was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific campaign ribbon with a bronze star, Philippine liberation ribbon with a bronze star, the good conduct medal, the victory ribbon, three overseas service bars and the Army occupation ribbon in Japan. Upon discharge from the Army, he married Dorothy Strickler on Jan. 17, 1948, in Eastland. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher having worked on a ranch in Stevens, Colo., and then farmed in Lamb and Hale counties. He moved to Hereford in 1967 and retired in 1999. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles Moore of Amarillo and James Moore of Denver; three daughters, Kay Smallwood of Canadian and Shirley Moore and Debbie Loyless, both of Amarillo; three half-sisters; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Anderson was born July 13, 1914, in Mountain View, Okla. She had been a Dumas resident since 1947. She married Claude Anderson on Dec. 22, 1936, in Colony, Okla. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church at Dumas. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000. Survivors include a daughter, Betty J. Pledger and husband, Lloyd, of Lubbock; a son, Ray G. Mrs. Handlin was born March 13, 1929, in Dalhart, to Theodore and Ruth Smith Wilcoxson. She married C.L. Jones in Dalhart, where she raised her children and was employed at Coon Memorial Nursing Home for many years. She moved in 1975 to Dumas, where she met and married Keith Warren Handlin on Aug. 6, of that year. She moved to Fredericksburg in 1980 to be near her mother and sister. She was a member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. She moved back to the Panhandle, making Amarillo her home in 1997 to be near her children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, in 1976. He was 79. There will be no services at Mr. Miller's request. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Miller grew up in Happy and graduated from Happy High School. He studied at Texas Tech University and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a photographic technician. He worked briefly for a California aircraft company before his military service in the European Theater. He had his first association with the Globe-News as a carrier in the 1930s. His first in-house newspaper experience was as a proofreader for his hometown weekly newspaper, The Happy Herald. He returned to Texas Tech until 1948, when he was employed by the Globe-News as a layout artist and staff cartoonist. He later was a member of the retail advertising sales staff and became advertising art director in 1951. He and the former Marceille Farmer, also a longtime Globe-News employee, were married Sept. 2, 1950, in Portales, N.M. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Paige Miller of Amarillo and Brook Bucy of Lubbock; a brother, Robert O. Miller of Amarillo; a sister, Johannah Kuykendall of Durham, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
