She taught school for 45 years in various towns in Texas including San Saba, Clifton, Rising Star, Cranfills Gap and Monahans. She retired in 1975 and moved to Amarillo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick in 1980; and her sister, Ara George in 2001. He married Eurmal Scarborough in June 1959 in Portland, Ore. He worked for the city of Amarillo in the sanitation department for 20 years, and died at the Veterans Nursing Home. He was a member of Southlawn Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by five brothers; and a sister. Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Bonnie Love of Plainview and Bessie Grimes of Amarillo; a brother, Earl Whitley of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. She retired from the Clements Unit where she worked as a correctional officer. She attended Second Baptist Church. He was an avid bridge player.
