Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glendell Smith, former pastor, and the Rev. Royce Mason, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Hunnicutt was born May 30, 1910, in Achille, Okla. She had been a Channing resident since 1938. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was the mayor for 19 years. She was the first mayor to seek and receive grants for the township. Her goal was for Channing to continue to have a quality water system. She drove the star rural route for 52 years and was awarded certificates for excellence in service. Her gift of love for family and friends was truly her greatest achievement. She will always be remembered for her wit, wisdom and zest for life. Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Mickey and husband, Bob, of Canyon; a son, Bob Hunnicutt and wife, Nedra, of Channing; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Mrs. Mooneyham was born Feb. 17, 1911, in Stephenville. In her early childhood, she and family moved and settled in Moore County, making Dumas their home. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church where she served in many different capacities from pianist, organist and soloist to Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher. In August 1976, she and her husband retired and traveled to many different places around the United States, but wherever their travels led them, she remained profoundly proud to be a Texan. She was a vibrant member of Greenbrier Assisted Living Center in Enid. She married Lawrence Mooneyham on Sept. 7, 1937, in Dumas. Claire and Lauren were the apples of Grandma Princess' eyes. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 11, 1976; her parents; and three brothers. He lived in Texline, Old Tascosa and Bovina before returning to Amarillo to attend Amarillo College. He earned a degree from Texas Tech University. He served in the Army during World War II as a staff sergeant. After the war, he married Peggy Seibel on June 29, 1945, in Amarillo. He served as vice president and general manager in his family's business, White and Kirk Department Store in Amarillo, until it sold to Sakowitz in 1969. He was also elected to the board of directors of the Texas Retail Federation. After retirement he was active with Meals on Wheels, Good Care Services and worked with the production of the Amarillo Senior Citizen's Association news letter, "The Lamplighter." He was a member of the Amarillo Downtown Rotary Club. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was active with the Gideons. Mr. Griffin was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Chillicothe, to Frank and Ollie Golden Griffin. He graduated from Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University. He was a veteran of the Army 20th Trans Truck Co. APO-301 and received the Korean Service Medal with one bronze star, National Defense Medal and UN Service Medal. Mr. Eggers was employed with Cheyenne Drilling Co. He was well known as a circle track race car driver and winner of numerous demolition derbies. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Amarillo by Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home of Waco. Rev. Gibson was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Van Alstyne. His family moved to Sherman when he was 8 years old, where he was converted and joined First Baptist Church of Sherman. At age 10, his family moved to Amarillo where he was educated. At age 17, he rededicated his life to Christ and earnestly began his Christian pilgrimage. On Jan. 25, 1934, he married Juanita Rigdon in Amarillo. Following the call to the ministry, they graduated from Howard Payne College in Brownwood and he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1948. He served as pastor of churches in Goodnight, Fort Worth, New London and Brownwood and as administrator of the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment until his first retirement in 1978. In January 1980, he became minister of visitation of Highland Baptist Church in Waco and continued this ministry until retirement in 2000 for health reasons. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Funeral Home. Mr. Smith had been a resident of El Paso since 1977 and was an elder at Highland Presbyterian Church. He was born Jan. 14, 1905, in Emma. He graduated from high school in Lubbock and from Montezuma College in New Mexico with a bachelor's degree in 1926. He received a master of arts degree in chemistry from the University of Texas in 1930. He was a 50-year member of American Chemical Society, a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon National Honorary Chemical Society and an associate member of Sigma Xi Honorary Scientific Society. He was employed by DuPont Co. for 39 years, beginning as a research and development chemist in the explosives department and retiring as senior technical assistant in the patent and licensing division of the international department. In 1944, he was assigned to Hanford Atomic Energy to write about the Manhattan Project. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Leora; three brothers, Moody, Wesley and Wallace, all of Amarillo; and three sisters, Bessie Threet, Ann Owens and Mozelle Walsh, all of Amarillo. He lived in Texline, Old Tascosa and Bovina before returning to Amarillo to attend Amarillo College. He earned a degree from Texas Tech University. He served in the Army during World War II as a staff sergeant. After the war, he married Peggy Seibel on June 29, 1945, in Amarillo. He served as vice president and general manager in his family's business, White and Kirk Department Store in Amarillo, until it sold to Sakowitz in 1969. He was also elected to the board of directors of the Texas Retail Federation. After retirement he was active with Meals on Wheels, Good Care Services and worked with the production of the Amarillo Senior Citizen's Association newsletter, "The Lamplighter." He was a member of the Amarillo Downtown Rotary Club. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was active with the Gideons. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pam Jones of Amarillo; two sons, the Rev. Ed Wilson of Beaumont and Jim D. Wilson of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Bob Wilson of Bovina; a sister, Wanda Rogers of Amarillo; and six grandchildren, Bethany Jones, Jon Michael Jones, Sean Jones, Matt Wilson, Erin Wilson and Amye Wilson. Bell St. Mrs. Winsor was born July 28, 1912, in Tahoka. She attended school in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo College and West Texas State University. She was a former member of St. Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary and a member of Texline United Methodist Church. She married Lowell Winsor on June 7, 1941, in Albuquerque, N.M., and she will be laid to rest next to him. They lived on their ranch near Texline until the death of her husband. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 24, 1987, while they were in Alaska; and a sister-in-law, Mary Robinson of Shawnee, Okla. He graduated from Canyon High School and attended West Texas State University. He was a veteran of the Army 20th Trans Truck Co. APO-301 and received the Korean Service Medal with one bronze star, National Defense Medal and UN Service Medal. He was discharged in 1954, returned to Canyon and was owner and operator of Griffin's Service Station on 23rd Street for many years. He married Mary Ruth Orr in 1985 in Canyon. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Griffin; two sisters, Oleta O'Donald and Juanetta White; and a grandson, Michael Griffin. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ross Griffin of Odessa, and Paul Griffin and Matthew Rex Griffin, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Rexann Rosen of Amarillo; two brothers, Wayne Griffin of El Paso and his twin brother, Ray Griffin of Canyon; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mr. Eggers was employed with Cheyenne Drilling Co. He was well known as a circle track race car driver and winner of numerous demolition derbies. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Camp and the Rev. Mark Wible officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery at Amarillo by Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home of Waco. Rev. Gibson was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Van Alstyne. His family moved to Sherman when he was 8 years old, where he was converted and joined First Baptist Church of Sherman. At age 10, his family moved to Amarillo where he was educated. At age 17, he rededicated his life to Christ and earnestly began his Christian pilgrimage. On Jan. 25, 1934, he married Juanita Rigdon in Amarillo. Following the call to the ministry, they graduated from Howard Payne College in Brownwood and he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1948. He served as pastor of churches in Goodnight, Fort Worth, New London and Brownwood and as administrator of the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment until his first retirement in 1978. In January 1980, he became minister of visitation of Highland Baptist Church in Waco and continued this ministry until retirement in 2000 for health reasons. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe Travis Gibson Jr. and David Lee Gibson; five grandchildren, Tonikay Osgood and husband, John, and Joe Travis Gibson III, all of Austin, Gregory Scott Gibson of Croton, N.Y., David Lee Gibson Jr. of Waco and John Travis Gibson of Georgetown; two great-grandchildren, Abby Louise Osgood and John Benjamin Osgood; and a nephew, Denny Louis Gibson of La Habra, Calif. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 12, 2002 W. Alfred Smith EL PASO - W. Alfred Smith, 97, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002. Services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in Highland Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Funeral Home. Mr. Smith had been a resident of El Paso since 1977 and was an elder at Highland Presbyterian Church. He was born Jan. 14, 1905, in Emma. He graduated from high school in Lubbock and from Montezuma College in New Mexico with a bachelor's degree in 1926. He received a master of arts degree in chemistry from the University of Texas in 1930. He was a 50-year member of American Chemical Society, a member of Phi Lambda Upsilon National Honorary Chemical Society and an associate member of Sigma Xi Honorary Scientific Society. He was employed by DuPont Co. for 39 years, beginning as a research and development chemist in the explosives department and retiring as senior technical assistant in the patent and licensing division of the international department. In 1944, he was assigned to Hanford Atomic Energy to write about the Manhattan Project. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Leora; three brothers, Moody, Wesley and Wallace, all of Amarillo; and three sisters, Bessie Threet, Ann Owens and Mozelle Walsh, all of Amarillo. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Gorman and husband, Bill, of Whippany, N.J., Virginia Banian of Foxboro, Mass., and Beverly Stevens of El Paso; a sister, Corey Gilley of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
