Mrs. Ward was the local operator and ran the telephone office in Bovina for years until it became more automated. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bovina and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Bovina Senior Citizens. She married Vernon C. Ward on Dec. 23, 1933, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 8, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Plainville Christian Church with the Rev. Mark Huntley officiating. Burial will be in the Plainville Cemetery by Moore-Overlease Funeral Chapel of Plainville. Mrs. Meyers was born Sept. 22, 1905, in Rooks County, the daughter of Clarence and Belle Hannah (Gray) Ordway. She was a longtime Plainville resident moving from Bailey, Colo. On May 31, 1924, she married Leo Meyers in Stockton. He passed away Sept. 27, 1997. She was the owner with her husband of a locker plant in Larned and were later the owners of the A&W Restaurant in Abilene. They moved to Bailey and were the owners of a restaurant and gift store where they retired in 1978 and moved to Plainville. She was a member of Plainville Christian Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Pricilla Art Club, all in Plainville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Ordway and Victor Ordway; two sisters, Valda Edson and Ileta Ordway; a stepsister, Lelia Banes; and a granddaughter, Cindy Brim. Survivors include a son, Leo Meyers Jr. and wife, Faye, of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Michelle Gipson; and six great-grandchildren.
