Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 27, 2002 Anna Burnett DALHART - Anna Burnett, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Denver Avenue Church of Christ with Dean Whaley, minister, and Joe Billups, special friend, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Burnett was born in Braymer, Mo., on Sept. 16, 1918, to James E. and Ida Rosenbaum. She married John Burnett in Altus, Okla., on Dec. 24, 1935. She moved to Dalhart in 1973 and was active in the community for years. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 15, 1982, nine days before their 47th anniversary. Survivors include a grandson, Michael Burnett and wife, LeeAnn, of Dalhart; six great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Aaron, Greg, Colton, Cameron and Michaela; and a brother, Ted Robinson. Amarillo Globe-News, Feb. 27, 2002 Daniel "Archie" Archuleta - Daniel "Archie" Archuleta, 71, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darrel Burton, pastor of Martin Baptist Church, and Dr. Charles E. Deyhle Sr. of Clarendon officiating. His body was donated to Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mr. Archuleta was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Clayton, N.M., and was a resident of Farmington, N.M., before moving to Clarendon in 1959. He married Patricia Ann Hughes on April 21, 1979, in Clovis, N.M. He was a barber for much of his life and was a police officer with the Clarendon Police Department for five years. He was a veterinary assistant for 25 years at Clarendon Veterinary Hospital. He served in the Army and was assigned to the Air Force special services. He was a member of Clarendon VFW Post 7782 and Clarendon First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Percidia Archuleta; and a brother, George Sisk. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jason Archuleta of Lubbock; two sisters, Leola Clary of Syracuse, N.M., and Patsy Roche of Denver; and a brother, Joe Garcia of Baton Rouge, La. He served in the Army and was a self-employed radio repairman. He was one of the first ham radio operators in Amarillo. He was a loyal friend to people in near and far places all over the world through his ham radio operations. He had a cheerful disposition and was beloved by all who knew him. In his radio work, he was Amarillo's "Great communicator of the air." Mr. Phillips was born in Bartlesville, Okla. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1954 with football honors. He received his bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 1959 and his master's degree from West Texas State University in 1974. He coached football at Sam Houston Junior High School in Borger from 1960 to 1967, he was head football coach at Fritch High School from 1967 to 1972, head football coach at Hart High School from 1972 to 1976 and won bi-district and was named Coach of the Year in 1974. He was head football coach at Friona High School from 1976 to 1980. He joined Horace Mann Insurance Co. in 1980 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Horace Mann Millionaire Hall of Fame. He married LaRue Barnett in 1999 at Dumas. He moved to Amarillo three years ago and was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She married Jesse Clarence Scott in 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976; and a daughter, Sallian Jewel Scott in 1983.
