Mrs. Foreman was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Larned, Kan., and lived the majority of her life in Florida where she enjoyed gardening. She returned to Amarillo in July 2000. She married Alton Lee Foreman in 1971 at Lakeland, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 7, 1973. Cotter Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Dr. Marcus Adair of Marcus Adair Missions, officiating. Mr. Cotter was born April 24, 1930, in Spearman. A native of Spearman, he is a 1948 graduate of Spearman High School. Following graduation, he joined the Navy on June 28, 1948. He served four years in the Navy attaining the rank of Petty Officer and receiving four hash marks for excellence in service. He served two years in the National Guard and a year in the Army Reserve. He served as a member of Texas Department of Public Safety for 2 years. He then became involved in the insurance adjustment field. On May 15, 1974, he again entered public service as a deputy sheriff for Hutchinson County and later attained the rank of chief deputy. In 1985, he retired from public service and became an independent catastrophic claims adjuster as owner of Cotter Claims Service. He married Pat Guillot on March 10, 2001. They resided in Ruidoso. He was an incredible man who loved God and his family above all else. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cynthia Carter of White Rock, N.M.; a son, Omar Cotter of Arlington; a stepson, Billy Mitchell of Austin; two stepdaughters, Vicki Tindall of Austin and Neta Lawson of Fritch; a brother, John D. Mrs. Metcalf was born Jan. 11, 1915, to Stonewall and Maggie Wells Burrus in Randlette, Okla. She was a graduate of Canyon High School. She married Ray Metcalf in 1937 at Tulia. They lived in Panhandle two years before moving to a farm west of Canyon in 1940 and moved to Canyon in 1985. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 27 years. She worked with the hospital auxiliary at Palo Duro Hospital from 1981 to 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; and a daughter, Glenda May Metcalf, in 1946. Survivors include two sons, Jack Metcalf of Amarillo and Glen Metcalf of Canyon; a daughter, Linda Carter of Fort Worth; a sister, Beatrice Hager of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, March 1, 2002 Elsewhere Dorothy Daugherty Weeks ONTARIO, Calif. - Dorothy Daugherty Weeks, 88, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002. No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Pierce Brothers Griffith Mortuary in Chino. Mrs. Weeks was born Feb. 8, 1914, in Claytonville, Texas, the youngest of seven children born to Matthew and Mary Seleta Hodges Daugherty. She was a longtime member of the Methodist Church, and a member of lineage societies Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of the Honorable Artillery Company. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, being a past worthy matron in Van Horn, Texas. She was well known in Borger, Texas, as secretary of First United Methodist Church, a position she enjoyed for 33 years. One-time residents of Amarillo, she and her husband, Wesley Dale Weeks, lived in Borger from 1944 to 1991. They lived in their own home in San Marcos, Texas, until 1996 and in a nursing home there until 1998. She made her home for the last four years with her daughter and son-in-law. She was an inspiration and a special blessing to them, keeping her trademark positive attitude and cheerful disposition to the very last day. She will be much missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998; an infant son, Robert Matthew; her parents; and five brothers and sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Compton of San Marcos and Jane Bledsoe and husband, Larry, of Ontario, Calif.; five grandchildren, Sharon Williamson, Kathryn Shaw, Judith Wren, Don Compton and Dorothy Jane Cizek; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister, Mary Belle Hale of Miami, Okla.; and a sister-in-law, Edna Daugherty of Fernandina Beach, Fla.
