Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road, with Mr. Glen Walton, of North Amarillo Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Hilliard had lived in Amarillo for 42 years. She married Grady Hillard on April 5, 1947, in Nashville, Tenn., and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1976. She graduated from Eagleville High School in Eagleville, Tenn. She worked at C.R. Anthony's for 15 years and received many awards while working there. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the North Amarillo Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Dorsey of Dallas and Pam Ezell of Amarillo; a son, Mark Hilliard of Amarillo; a sister, Eva Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Gene Pate of Smyrna, Tenn., and Herman Pate of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Hough was born June 19, 1914, in Hereford and had lived in Hereford, Canyon, Bovina, El Paso, Dallas, Denison, Vicksburg, Miss., Conchas Dam, N.M., Albuquerque, N.M., and Claude. At the time of his death he was a resident of Amarillo. He married Clara Lorine Combs on Dec. 10, 1937, in Albuquerque. He was a civilian employee of the Army Corps of Engineers and later the Atomic Energy Commission of Albuquerque before retiring in 1960. He was a 50-year Mason and served as Worshipful Master of Claude Lodge No. 719 in 1980 and 1981. He was a member of the York Rite Bodies, Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo and Ballut Abyad Shrine in Albuquerque since 1952. He graduated from Canyon High School in 1931 and attended WTSTC in 1931 and 1932. He began playing the clarinet in 1928 and had played in several bands and orchestras. He was a member of the WT band in 1932 and donated a B flat clarinet, wood series 9, Selmer Bundy B flat clarinet and an original WT band sweater to Dr. Gary Garner, the WT band director. He was a member of the Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry W. Hough, in 1978. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elizabeth Phillips of Amarillo and Virginia A. Temme of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, Thomas Reece Hough of Amarillo; a sister, Floy Oliver of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She taught school at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Pampa for 21 years. She married Joe B. Davis in Canyon on Nov. 22, 1950. They have lived in Pampa since 1953. He graduated from Panhandle High School in 1941. He was an Air Force veteran and served as a belly gunner instructor in World War II. He was a member of Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge, a charter member of Panhandle Country Club and United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime resident of Panhandle and retired from farming in 1989. He won numerous grain sorghum yield awards and the Ford Farm Efficiency Award. He married Helen Margaret Nickell on July 19, 1947. He was preceded in death by his father in 1955; his mother in 1957; his wife on Feb. 27, 1993; and a sister, Alberta Anderson in 1979. He was a retired school teacher, having taught auto mechanics for several years, a master mechanic and a carpenter. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Judd was born Oct. 6, 1920, to Martin Grout and Charlie Luesta Brown Grout in Burkburnett. She came to Collingsworth County in 1926 where she attended school at Roundup and Needwood. She married Chester Martin (Dick) Judd on Feb. 1, 1935, in Hollis, Okla. She was a homemaker. She had been a member of Church of Christ since the summer of 1951. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Barker and Buster Grout. Wofford SHAMROCK - Margaret H. Wofford, 89, died Thursday, March 14, 2002, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Shamrock with the Rev. Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Wofford was born June 29, 1912, in Van Buren, Ark., to Lawrence Troy and Carrie Margaret Bradley. She married Raymond F. Wofford on April 14, 1935. They moved to Shamrock soon after where they engaged in farming for several years, living in the Twitty and Bethel Communities. She resided in Claude and Tulia prior to moving to Amarillo in 2000. She had a real heart for children, especially the abused and underprivileged. She was active in the children's programs in the church and was a lifetime prayer warrior. At the time of her death, she was a member of Eleventh Street Baptist Church in Shamrock. She was a loving mother and grandmother, but her greatest love was for her savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966; and a son, Eddie Ray Wofford in 1967. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Strategier and husband, Jim, of Norman, Okla., and Elizabeth Lee Pepper and husband, J. Burial will be in Logan Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart, Texas. Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Wilbarger County to Will and Winnie (Carpenter) Ham. In 1929 her family homesteaded in Porter and she graduated from high school in Porter and attended Wayland Baptist University and New Mexico Highlands University. On Nov. 30, 1933, she married Raymond Smith and they lived in Porter before moving to Logan in 1967. She taught school in Logan for many years and retired in 1978. She attended the Methodist Church in Logan and was a member of the Logan Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; and her parents. He moved to Amarillo with his family in 1917. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1938 and played on the State Championship Sandie Football Team in 1938. He played football at Altus Junior College and also attended the University of Texas on a football scholarship. He served in the Coast Guard in the Pacific during World War II. He married Lois Wilbourn at Amarillo in 1969. He was employed at Amarillo National Bank as property manager before retiring. He and Lois moved to Canyon in 1983. He previously managed the Vaughn Building and was employed by Blackburn Brothers Clothiers. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon. He was an avid West Texas Lady Buff and Canyon High School Lady Eagle fan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Yale Harvard Rice in 1990; and a sister, Zinna B. Hyso in 2001. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Judy Karl Riner and husband, Bryan, of Santa Fe, N.M., Jan Seager of Amarillo and Phyllis Shepard and husband, Joel, of Telephone; a sister, Ollie Mae Massie of Canton; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, March 17, 2002 John E. King Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church of Canyon with Pat Carathers celebrating mass. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mr. King was born on April 18, 1927, in Cushing, Okla., to Price King and Nell Bellis. He graduated from Oklahoma State University and was the director of fishery for the state of Oklahoma. He moved to Amarillo in 1958 and worked as a Schering Pharmaceuticals representative. He became owner of Tascosa Office Machines in 1977, building a great family business. He married Evelyn Killham on Jan. 17, 1948, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was a member of Canyon Country Club. He was active on the board of Kids Inc., Amarillo Photographic Society, Southwest Basketball Association as a referee and ARMA. He was also a veteran of World War II. He would want you to remember his passion for family, friends, life and nature. Survivors include his wife; three sons, J.P. King and Kelly King, both of Amarillo, and Richard King of Abernathy; a daughter, Lynn Pipkin of Amarillo; two sisters, Mary Nell Winham of Macon, Ga., and Kay Butler of Ponchatoula, La.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Kids Inc. of Amarillo.
