Menapace PERRYTON - Marion V. Menapace, 80, died Sunday, March 17, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Roy, N.M., Catholic Church with Father Brito and Edward Olona officiating. Burial will be in Roy Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Menapace was a member of Catholic Church of Roy. She was an active member of the Senior Citizens Center. Clemons - Glen D. Clemons, 78, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in Norman, Okla. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Mr. Clemons was a resident of Pampa for 57 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. Survivors include three sisters, Gladys Ellington of Shawnee, Okla., Betty Welch of Vallejo, Calif., and Fern Cazzell of Galena, Mo. "Dick" Little, 74, died Monday, March 18, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Billy Jones, Church of Christ minister of Amarillo, and Mike Gibson, minister of Westside Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Little was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Wellington. He married June Savage on Nov. 17, 1956, in Wellington. He was a veteran of the Army. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1969, moving from Amarillo. He sold cookware for Mid-Continent Permanent for 29 years. He considered the MCP group his additional family. He was a member of Westside Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles G. Little Jr. in 1967. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debby Addy of Pampa; two sons, Larry Little and wife, Dolores, of Amarillo and Jerry Little of Pampa; a sister, Sue Paschal of Gordonville; two brothers, Doug Little of Kansas City, Mo., and Mike Little of Shamrock; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Eleventh St. Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Switzer officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Shaffer was born Dec. 21, 1914. She had lived in the Shamrock area most of her life and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; and a son, William Morris, in 1976. Survivors include four sons, Wesley Jay Shaffer of Clayton, Okla., Gilbert Earl Shaffer of Norman, Okla., Kenneth Charles Shaffer and John Phillip Shaffer, both of Shamrock; three daughters, Billie Ruth Kasid and Mary LaVerne Cain, both of Amarillo, and Nelda Jo Poole of Shamrock; two sisters, Maxine Pittser of Santa Anna, Calif., and Opal Perkins of Sedalia, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; and 47 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Don R. Wood Auditorium of Clayton, N.M., with Kevin Naillieux and Jim Price officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mr. Rice was born on Nov. 17, 1919, in Colfax County, N.M., to Martin Luther "Marty" Rice and Martha Belle "Mattie" Scifres Rice. He married Winnie Douglass on June 13, 1948 in Mount Dora, N.M., and they moved to Dumas in 1955. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Ralph Rice and Edward Rice. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Wynell Quackenbush of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Douglas Rice and wife, Mari, of Texline, and David Rice of Tyler; a brother, David Rice of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will be a potluck meal at the Clayton Airpark following the funeral service on Wednesday. Mrs. Thomas married Dick Thomas on March 14, 1975, in Teller County, Colo. They were married for 27 years. She served 10 years as a deputy sheriff in El Paso County. She served on a governor's ad hoc committee for training correctional officers. She was a faithful believer and student of Bible prophecies. She taught classes for a number of years in Colorado. She loved to knit. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Stephen Bergman of Sterling, Colo., and James Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Cheryl Seal of Memphis; and three grandchildren, Courtney Seal, Spencer Seal and Neal Bergman. Amarillo Globe-News, March 19, 2002 Bessie Claire Ruback Cizon Bessie Claire Ruback Cizon, 91, of Amarillo died Sunday, March 17, 2002. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Llano Cemetery with Rabbi John Feldman of Temple B'nai Israel officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Cizon was born Nov. 23, 1910, in Kansas City, Mo., to Joseph and Fannie Ruback. She graduated from Central High School there in 1928. The former Bessie Claire Ruback, she married Leon F. Cizon on Aug. 29, 1937, at Kansas City. Before they moved to Amarillo in 1947, she was office manager for Byer Trucking Co. In Amarillo, she was a homemaker and was an active volunteer in many civic and charitable organizations. She was involved in, or a member of Amarillo Museum of Art, Amarillo Little Theatre, American Red Cross board member and Gray Ladies, Art Alliance, Art Force, Amarillo Symphony and Symphony Guild, a life member of City of Hope, DeMolay Mothers, Friends of Fine Arts at West Texas A&M University, Hadassah, Heroine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star 1928, Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, Lone Star Ballet Guild, Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Temple B'nai Israel Synagogue, Temple B'nai Israel Sisterhood and Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation. She was a volunteer for Amarillo Veterans Hospital for 44 years, receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award for 35,000 hours of voluntary service and was unofficial, unelected mayor of Ware Memorial Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband in April 2000; and five siblings. Survivors include a son, Gordon Cizon of Dallas; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Ruback of San Antonio and Bess Brenner of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; two grandchildren; three nieces; a nephew; a number of grandnieces, nephews and cousins; and good friend and constant companion for more than 50 years, Myrtle Manning. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Hauger was born March 16, 1912, in Louisville, Ky. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1953, moving here from Dallas. He married Barbara Helen Olive on Dec. 26, 1936, in Louisville. He was a retired carpet salesman having worked with Khourys, Casey Carpet and Mohawk Carpet Co. He retired in 1977. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years on Dec. 16, 2000. Survivors include a son, David Starr Hauger and wife, Barbara, of Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Barbara Martin and husband, Charles, of Fort Worth; a brother, Robert S. Hauger of Dallas; four grandchildren, Sarah Daniel of Fort Worth, Doug Martin of Arlington, Brandy Hauger of Irving and Jennifer Albritton of Biloxi, Miss.; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Mr. Chavez was born June 26, 1922, in Santa Rosa. He married Mela Ullibari on July 22, 1941, in Tucumcari. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Albert Chavez, Ramon Chavez, Cristobal Floyd Chavez and Richard Chavez, all of Albuquerque; two daughters, Patsi Martinez of Clovis and Marcia Keck of Albuquerque; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Burial will be in Dallas/Forth Worth National Cemetery by Golden Gate Funeral Home of Dallas. Mr. Smith was born June 29, 1932, to Florence Cavette and Charles Smith, in Shiner. He graduated from Ashbury High School in Yoakum. After serving in the Army and being honorably discharged, he obtained a bachelor of science degree from Huston-Tillotson College in Austin. He later earned his master's degree and a midmanagement certificate from West Texas State University.
