Georgia St. Mrs. Runquist was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and past member of BPOE Does. She and her husband, Elmer Runquist, founded Interstate Wholesale Co. in 1954. After his death her brother, Kyle Speed, and she became partners in the firm and operated it together for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1962; her parents, Kyle and Gladys Speed; a brother, James Speed; and a sister, Mary Lou Bruce. Amarillo Globe-News, March 29, 2002 Catherine Louise Warren Catherine Louise Warren, 86, of Booker and formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, March 28, 2002. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Jim O'Banion of First Christian Church of Booker officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Warren was born Dec. 30, 1915, to James and Laura Roberts in Celina. In 1920 the family moved to a farm five miles north of Dumas. She attended school in Dumas and in 1940 moved to Amarillo. She was employed by Moore Brothers Jukebox and Cigarette Business. In 1945 she married Jack Warren. Together they formed a business to raise greyhounds for racing on tracks in Colorado, New Mexico and Florida. She continued employment in Amarillo working at Pantex and Maxor Drugs. She and her husband were lifelong members of Cowpunchers Association. She was a member of First Christian Church. She moved to Booker four years ago from Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974. Survivors include a sister, Nell Jones of Dumas; three nephews, Jimmy Jones of Fort Lupton, Colo., Tommy Jones of Booker and Richard Ray Roberts of Dumas; many grandnieces and nephews; and several great-grandnieces and nephews. Gossett, 85, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Lane, senior pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo, and family members officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens with a flag presentation by American Legion Post No. 224. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Gossett was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Canton, Ohio. She graduated from Santa Rosa Hospital School of Nursing in San Antonio in 1939 as a registered nurse. She married Martin Gossett on June 2, 1946, in San Antonio. She was commissioned in the Army as a Second Lieutenant in 1943. She moved to Dumas in 1950 from Lipscomb County, where she and her husband had lived since 1946. She served as a school nurse in the 1960s in Moore County. She and her husband and their sons were a pioneer family in high plains agriculture and were innovators in commercial cattle feeding and irrigated farming. She was an early member of First Presbyterian Church, joining in 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 27, 1989; and two siblings, Jane F. Corris and Felix Fisher. Survivors include two sons, Bruce Negley Gossett and wife, Linda Jane, of Dumas and Byron Norwood Gossett and wife, Patricia Patton, of Amarillo; two sisters, Barbara F. Grimm of Kerrville and Margaret F. Mrs. Ward was born Nov. 23, 1910, in Searcy, Ark. She had lived in Heber Springs, Ark., until the 1940s, before moving to Texas. She lived in the Dumas, Cactus and Amarillo areas for the past 50 years. She worked for Boxwell Brothers Hardware and Furniture Store and Grant Hardware Store for 20 years. She was a member of Woodmen of the World and First United Methodist Church of Dumas. She was preceded in death by husbands, Frank A. Donn and Earl Ward, both of Dumas; her mother and stepfather, Birdie Dunlap and W.O. Dunlap of Heber Springs; a sister, Helen Gray of Shreveport, La.; and a brother, Billy Dunlap of Heber Springs. She married James Cash on Sept. 25, 1937, in Enochs. She had lived in Hereford since 1954, where she was a homemaker. She was in charge and took care of the nursery at Fellowship of Believers Church in Hereford for more than five years. She loved to baby-sit children in her home in Hereford for many years and was a longtime member of Fellowship of Believers Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, a daughter, a brother and four sisters. Amarillo Globe-News, March 29, 2002 Linda Vigil Duarte: 1947-2002 Linda Vigil Duarte GLENDALE, Calif. - Linda Vigil Duarte, 54, died Sunday, March 24, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Lorenzo Catholic Church in Walnut. Mrs. Duarte was born May 25, 1947, in Logan, N.M. She married Alphonzo Duarte on Aug. 23, 1968, in Eagle Rock. She worked for the State of California for Workers Compensation Insurance Fund as a supervisor. She loved to do crafts, gardening, doll collecting and loved to go to their summer resort in Lake Havasu, Ariz., with her husband for fishing and relaxing. She loved being with her grandson who she enjoyed so much. She grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and moved to California later on in her teens. She was like a mother to all of her sons' friends. She has gone home with our heavenly father and will greatly be missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Vigil on Dec. 29, 1994. She received her master's degree in education from Texas Tech University. She taught in Watson, Tulia and Littlefield schools for several years. She was a past member of Eastern Star.
