Mrs. Ames was born in Ada, Okla., and lived in Dalhart from 1941 to 1996. When she moved to Amarillo she was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene in Dalhart.She loved fishing. She married Dan D. Dupont in 1920. He preceded her in death in 1931. She then married Clyde Ames in Dow, Okla., on June 3, 1932. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 6, 1992; a daughter, Roberta May Dupont; and three grandchildren, Clyde Lee Ferguson, Stella Martin and Jerald Ferguson. Survivors include five daughters, Mayme Ames of Springfield, Ore., Mary Etta Wagner of Cortez, Colo., Madeline Vandiver Herrmann, Shirley Wilson and Amy Ferguson, all of Amarillo; three sons, Clifford A. To his fellow truckers he was known as "Lost Indian." She had lived in Amarillo all her life. She was a homemaker and had been very active with the Salvation Army for 20 years. She married Clinton Bierman in 1938 at Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 1978. She then married Ralph Moore in 1982 at Clovis, N.M. Mr. Buchanan was born July 20, 1917, in Old Hansford and married Ollie Pauline Wallin on Aug. 8, 1941, near Gruver. He was a graduate of Spearman High School and received his bachelor of science degree from Panhandle A&M in Goodwell, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Mauldin of Austin; two sons, Tom of Lubbock and Alan of Red River, N.M.; a brother, J.B. of Spearman; four sisters, Louise Vaught, Edna Bassel and Virginia Cates, all of Amarillo, and Helen Fisher of Spearman; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Slaybaugh was born Jan. 28, 1928, in Ochelata, Okla., and had been a Borger resident since 1942. He was management consultant for North Country Distributors and served in the Navy during World War II. He married Jo Woody on March 28, 1948. He was a Kentucky Colonel, member of Rotary Club, Borger Chamber of Commerce and American Legion. He was a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. where he served in every office locally. He served on the Borger City Council for six years and also on the Borger Planning and Zoning Committee. He was a member of the Panhandle Region Texas Review and Comment System Committee from 1991 to 1993 and was the chairman from 1992 to 1993. Casket bearers will be Joel Brown, Brandon Slaybaugh, Matt Gillman, Dillon Thompson, Steve Slaybaugh, Colby Forrester, John Waldrep and Randy Slaybaugh. She was loved by her family and admired by her friends as a strong Christian woman who loved the Lord.
