Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Mr. Thornton was born May 15, 1923, in Joplin, to Oscar Heath Thornton and Verna Mae Hayse. He married Betty Jane Welch on Sept. 11, 1945, in Seymour. The past 47 years they lived and farmed in the Happy community. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Happy. He served in the Navy armed guard during World War II. His favorite hobby was playing "42" with friends and family along with reading, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Leonida Cleveland of Amarillo, Lana Beth Stevenson of Canyon and Megayla O'Rear of Azle; a brother, Jack Thornton of Tulia; two sisters, Ludie Martin of Malakoff and Ned Gilbreath of Yantis; four grandchildren, Jim Stevenson of Clarendon, Tommy Stevenson of Friona, Sam Stevenson of Canadian and Kristie Cleveland of Austin; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cox passed away at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix following a lengthy illness. She was born to Houston and Lora Shannon Roberts Oct. 13, 1943, in McAdoo. "Mick" Prigmore PAMPA - O.M. "Mick" Prigmore, 90, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robin Gantz, associate pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Prigmore was born July 4, 1911, in Burbank, Okla., the fourth of seven children born to Bert C. and Pearl Borden Prigmore. He graduated from Burbank High School and moved to Pampa on Feb. 1, 1929. He was employed by Cabot Corp. when Cabot was constructing four carbon black plants in the Texas Panhandle. When construction was completed in December 1929, he went to work for Perkins Drug Store, working there until mid-1931. In April 1932, he returned to work for Cabot in their Pampa office in a clerical capacity. He married Myrtle Templeton on April 30, 1933, in Pawhuska, Okla. Their five sons were born in Pampa and attended Pampa schools. In January 1935, he was promoted to director of centralized services consisting of purchasing, accounting, data processing and communications for Cabot's four operating divisions, with headquarters in Pampa. He held that position until Oct. 1, 1967, when he was promoted to manager of Cabot's six U.S. carbon black plants. In 1974 he was transferred to Boston as manager of Cabot's North American carbon black plants. He retired from Cabot Corp. on April 1, 1977, and returned to Pampa. In the spring of 1958, he attended the 33rd session of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University's Graduate School of Business Administration. He was a longtime member of Pampa Country Club and was elected to their board of directors for several terms. He served as the club president in 1967. He was a charter member and served one year as president of the Panhandle region of the National Purchasing Agents Association. He was elected to Pampa City Commission and served from December 1977 until April 1983. In 1979, Texas Gov. William J. Clements adopted programs aimed at making state government more effective and to stop its rapid growth. One facet of these programs was to conduct operational audits of the large state agencies, using personnel furnished by companies operating in Texas. He represented Cabot Corp. in this program from January to October 1980. From January to mid-April 1980, he served on a team that audited the Mental Health and Mental Retardation Agency and the Texas Health Department. In April 1980, he coordinated and helped recruit industry personnel to audit the State Purchasing and General Services Commission. This agency is responsible for, and actually does, a vast majority of state purchasing. This audit was completed in October 1980 and presented to the three-man commission. In April 1981, he was appointed by Gov. Clements to serve as chairman of the State Purchasing and General Services Commission, and served in that capacity through 1985. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pampa. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993; a son, Richard Prigmore; and a brother, Bert Prigmore. Survivors include four sons, Robert Prigmore and wife, Betty, of Bullard, Donald Prigmore and wife, Judy, of Grapevine, Brian Prigmore and wife, Carol, of Oklahoma City and Michael Prigmore and wife, Patty, of Sanford, Fla.; a daughter-in-law, Margery Prigmore of Dallas; two sisters, June Elliott and husband, B.N., of Stephenville and Lee Glanville and husband, Charles, of Holyoke, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He married Betty Stratton in Amarillo in 1958. He built and drove stock cars and worked his way up to sprint cars. He was a mechanic for High Plains Chevrolet prior to moving to Bushland, where he worked for Rocking B Farm Supply. He moved to Wildorado and founded Wildorado Irrigation and Supply. He opened Satellite World in Wildorado and then took over Papa Jim's Cafe. He was a member of Westside Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Helms, in February 1998. Mr. Aaron graduated from Guymon High School with the class of 1983. He was engaged in trucking the majority of his working life. She taught fifth and sixth grade English at Texhoma Schools for a number of years.
