Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in San Jacinto United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Fitzgerald, senior pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Bruckner was born Jan. 9, 1907, in McKinney and moved to Woodrow in 1916 at age 9. She attended school for one year in Woodrow in a one-room schoolhouse and later finished school in Lubbock. She taught school for a while until meeting Ben Bruckner, who convinced her to marry him and move to Amarillo. Leaving the three-room Joe Stokes School District in Lynn County, she wed Ben Bruckner on July 18, 1928. She worked side by side with her husband, the founder of Bruckner Sales and Service. She served 27 years as bookkeeper for the firm and longer as secretary for the company. Long active in church work, she became the first female Lay Leader at San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She also served on the administrative, finance and pastor-parish boards, led the Commission on Education and Social Concerns, sang in the choir for 35 years, taught in the Sunday School and youth department, was president of the United Methodist Women in 1960, 1961 and 1962, and served as president of the Wesleyan Service Guild in 1956 and 1957. She was president of the Church Women United from 1962 to 1964, the Wesley Community Center from 1969 to 1970 and the Amarillo District of Women's Society of Christian Service in 1943. At the Wesley Community Center, she was treasurer for five years. She also was treasurer for five years for the United Methodist Women, Northwest Texas Conference. San Jacinto United Methodist Church recognized the Bruckners' dedication to the bus ministry and established the Bennie and Willie Mae Bruckner Scholarship Fund in 1984. In 1969, Beta Sigma Phi named Mrs. Bruckner its Woman of the Year for her civic, welfare and church service. She also served as president of the YWCA board of directors in 1977 and the McDowell Music Club from 1957 to 1960. She served on the board of Goodwill Industries for six years and was on the founding committee. She also served on the YWCA board for six years. With the founding committee of the High Plains Hospital Auxiliary, she served on the board as publicity chairwoman from 1967 to 1969. She was also treasurer of the Philharmonic Music Club and served on the aging committee of the Potter-Randall County Citizens' Committee from 1963 to 1965. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 22, 1999; and by a sister, Imogene Suttle. Survivors include a son, Ben Bruckner Jr. of Amarillo; a daughter, Anna Ruth Passmore of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She worked in the grocery business as a retail clerk. Survivors include a son, Earle Jordan of Gainsville, Fla.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, April 14, 2002 Mauvalene McCarty Mauvalene McCarty, 95, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 13, 2002. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Dumas Cemetery. She was a longtime Moore County resident at the Thompson Ranch, living there from 1945 to 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Harvey McCarty, on Oct. 28, 1993. Survivors include a son, Glenn McCarty of Masterson; two daughters, Dean Brown of Rangely, Colo., and Kay Holland of Bartlesville, Okla.; a sister, Opal Jeffries of Tuttle, Okla.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Garner was born in Parson, Kan. She moved to Amarillo in 1953 from Evansville, Ind. She and her husband started Grace Baptist Church and grew it to a membership of 2,000. She graduated from West Texas State University and taught school for 20 years. She married the Rev. Melvin O. Garner in 1943 at Iola, Kan. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Dora Bates of Amarillo and Laura Garner of Canyon; a son, Leslie Garner of Chihuahua, Mexico; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Masonic graveside rites will be by Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF and AM. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Anderson was born March 14, 1909, in Webb City, Mo. He married Dove Arlene Gibney on Aug. 15, 1937, in Amarillo. He worked for Shell Oil Co. at one time. He moved to California for several years, and upon his return to Pampa, he went to work for Cabot Corp., retiring as supervisor. He was a member of First Christian Church. He was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF and AM where he received the Golden Trowel award. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory in Lubbock and was a lifetime member of the Pampa Shrine Club and the Khiva Temple. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 24, 2001. Survivors include a sister, Evelyn Wears of Seal Beach, Calif.; several step grandchildren; and special friends, Rex and Carolyn Rucker and Nicole and Evan Rucker, all of Pampa. Mr. Wright was born Oct. 21, 1922. He was a retired operator with Phillips Petroleum at Philtex for 34 years. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; two sons, Donald Wright of Borger and Randy Wright of Amarillo; four sisters, Verna Matyas of Beloit, Kan., Emaline Eichenhour, Doris Oshel and Lois Haunchild, all of Garden City, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, April 14, 2002 Lloyd Miller HARTLEY - Lloyd Miller, 88, died Thursday, April 11, 2002. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hartley Christian Fellowship with John Will Bookout, minister of the church, officiating. Burial will be in Hartley Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. Miller was born Nov. 15, 1913, in Hartley. He graduated from Hartley High School, then attended West Texas State University. He married Wanelle Clifton in 1938 at Hartley. During World War II they lived in California where he built B-52 bombers in the factories. For many years he owned Hartley County Implement and was a diesel mechanic. He was a longtime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 2390 in Dalhart. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother; and a sister. Survivors include his children, Clif Miller of San Clemente, Calif., Jim Miller of Osage Beach, Mo., Ken Miller of Mattituck, Long Island, and Donna Lenz of Dalhart; and a niece, Julie Bromley of Amarillo. The family will be at the Miller home in Hartley. The family suggests memorials be to Hartley Cemetery fund; or to the Hartley Community Center. Jason Stidham of Quanah officiating. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Home of Quanah. Mr. Davidson was born July 28, 1917, in Quanah, the son of the late William and Lucy Davidson. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Tommy Davidson of Quanah; a brother, Eldon Davidson of Quanah; and a granddaughter.
