Mrs. Spilman was born Oct. 8, 1901, in Hempstead County, Ark. She attended schools in Hempstead and moved to Swisher County in 1920. She was married to George A. Stratton from 1926 to 1949. She then married John C. Spilman on Aug. 26, 1967, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by both husbands; and a daughter, Janie Stratton Martin Lee. She married Gerald Lynn Smith on March 11, 1939, in Amarillo. They returned to Briscoe County to farm in what was known as the Haylake Community. In 1947 they moved to a farm west of Quitaque. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 20, 2000; a grandson, Shane Smith on Aug. 25, 1985; a brother, Archie Ray Martin; and two sisters, Ima Jo Bingham and Mildred McDaniel. Osage St. Mrs. Traweek was born Jan. 29, 1916, in western Oklahoma to Hugh and Bessie Sober. She moved to Oklahoma City at age 3, where she lived until her marriage to Julian C. Traweek Jr. in 1934. They were actively involved in church work until his death in 1990. She attended Oklahoma University at Weatherford, Decatur Baptist College, West Texas State University in Canyon and received her degree from North Texas State University in Denton at age 41. She worked as an elementary and music teacher for 20 years. She retired from Amarillo Independent School District in 1979. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who dedicated her life to God and her family. Mrs. Wallace was born April 10, 1944, to L.V. and Lena Trent Keel in Childress. She married Glenn Wallace on July 8, 1966, in Carey. She lived in Brady for the last 18 years, moving here from Clarendon in 1984. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Brady Chamber of Commerce, Child Welfare Board and was a past member of Clarendon Jaycees. She worked as a secretary for most of her life, working for different lawyers, Clarendon ISD, McCulloch County District Clerk and McCulloch County Probation Office. She was active in fund-raising for the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association. She loved playing bridge, gardening, reading and she especially loved her husband, children, family and friends. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tony Wallace of Abilene; a daughter, Jill Mays and husband, Jeff of Brady; three sisters, Brenda Higley and husband, Tom, of Amarillo, Gail Campbell of Childress, and Rita Evans and husband, Larry of Childress; six grandchildren, Brian, Ashley, Jessica, Danielle, Maggie and Will; and numerous other family members and friends.
