Mrs. Hoffman was born July 18, 1910, in Newport, Ark. She moved to Childress in 1942 from Idabell, Okla. Amarillo Globe-News, April 26, 2002 Paralee Brock Coleman WELLINGTON - Paralee Brock Coleman, 95, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, in Canyon. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wellington Church of Christ with Gaylord Cook of Gruver Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Dozier Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mrs. Coleman was born Feb. 19, 1907, in Grapevine. Upon graduation from North Texas State Normal College at Denton in 1928, she came to Wellington as a Collingsworth County Home Demonstration Agent. She married a local rancher, Jay Dee Coleman in 1931. They moved to Dozier and later bought a ranch near McLean. Besides teaching third through fifth grades at Dozier School, her career included teaching home economics at Samnorwood, McLean and Wellington. Upon retirement in 1968, she traveled the world and co-authored, "Time Marches On" with John S. Coleman Jr. She moved to Canyon in 1997, having lived in Collingsworth County for 68 years. She was a member of Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, Business and Professional Women's Club, Wellington Hospital Auxiliary, RSVP Club and Wellington Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999. Survivors include two sons, John D. Coleman and wife Sandra, and J. Mario Coleman and wife, Barbara, all of Canyon; five grandchildren, Carol Frye of Sweetwater, Terri Bass and Susan Burgoon, both of Canyon, Nick Coleman of Crestwood, Ky., and Scott Coleman of Galveston; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Smith of Tulsa, Okla.; and a brother, Lewis C. Mrs. Shepherd was born in Benton, Ark., moved to Amarillo in 1948 and then to the farm between Hereford and Dimmitt in 1957. She worked as a bookkeeper and as a school bus driver for Hereford School System. She farmed and ranched for years. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jo Smith in Nov. 1984. Survivors include two sons, Ronny Shepherd and Mike Shepherd, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Maureen and Agnes, both of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Tom Ike Smith of Englewood, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gibson was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Colgate, Okla., to Thomas Freeman Maxey and Lulu Evelyn East Maxey. She was orphaned at age 2 and was raised by her adored grandmother, Sara Maxey in Durant, Okla. She married William Willard Gibson on Dec. 1, 1925. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo, moving to Houston in 1972 to be closer to her sister. She then moved to Dallas in 1989 and at the time of her death was a resident of Walnut Place Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 3, 1970; a sister, Blanche Cline; and a niece, Sara Cline Fincher. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sue Morris of Antigua, Guatemala, and Puerta Vallerta, Mexico; a son, Michael Gibson and wife, Nancy, of Dallas; three nephews, John Victor Cline and Harold Fincher, both of Houston, and Gerald Gibson of Halleyville, Okla.; and two great-nieces, Kay Fincher of Costa Rica and Burton and Carol Rodabuagh of Houston. Mr. Gentry was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Asher, Okla. He had lived in several Texas Panhandle communities where he was employed as a cowboy on ranches and feedlots. He enjoyed the outdoors and working with cattle. He moved to Amherst in July 1994 where he married Dorthea Nichols on Sept. 23, 1994. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Gentry; and a sister, Aline Hough.
