Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens of Dumas by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Brooks was born June 14, 1928, in Texline. She was the manager of Ly'n Bragg before retiring. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Dumas. She married Rollie N. "Bill" Kimbley on Nov. 22, 1941, in Dalhart. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Nathan Kimbley; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson. Cremation arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home. A Friona resident since 1996, he moved here from Bovina where he had lived since 1990. He was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Chillicothe. He was a former resident of Gruver and Dimmitt. He married Hazel Hargrove on June 11, 1953, in Clovis, N.M. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army in the European Theater. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gruver. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had previously served on the volunteer fire departments in Gruver and Dimmitt. He was a retired diesel mechanic. He was an avid reader and loved to fish. The love of his life was his grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, four sisters and his parents. She married Thurman Rives on July 28, 1946, in Shamrock. She had lived in Wheeler for the past 51 years. She was a homemaker, member of First United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and the Thursday Review Club. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jo; an infant son, Barry; her parents; and a sister, Betty Harrell. Mrs. Wright enjoyed spending time with her family. She and her husband lived in Timbercreek for 30 years before moving to Amarillo. She enjoyed cooking, collecting dolls and spending time in Las Vegas. She married Larry Wright on Aug. 10, 1946, in Amarillo. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106. Amarillo Globe-News, April 29, 2002 Emerson Laird Campbell Emerson Laird Campbell, 70, of Amarillo, died Friday, April 26, 2002. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2002, in the Parlor at Park Place Towers of Amarillo. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Campbell died following a long courageous fight with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and moved to Amarillo in 1939. He attended Texas Tech University and studied mechanical and industrial engineering. During this time he developed a love of amateur radio and all things electronic. He joined the Naval Reserve in 1948 and traveled extensively to the Caribbean and South America in Destroyer Escorts. Later he served in the Naval Security Group as a Cryptologic Technician and retired as a chief warrant officer in 1984. He earned his Amateur Radio (HAM) License in 1951 and went by the call signs W1CUT and W1HQ. He moved to Connecticut in 1954 accepting a position with the American Radio Relay League in Newington. He ultimately became Publications Manager and Managing Editor of their monthly international publication, QST. His love of the outdoors made him a skilled mountaineer, hiker and bird watcher. He enjoyed amateur radio, photography, astronomy, playing the piano and accordion and could be found many evenings and weekends traveling New England on his BMW motorcycle. He sought adventure in life and was fascinated to learn how things worked. He gained strength by reading books about great struggles and admired Sir Ernest Shackleton for his "Endurance." His beloved partner of the past six years, Shelli Mosier, shared with him love that can be found when you least expect it. His many friends and relatives will fondly remember his keen sense of humor and love of life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Constance (Hegarty) Campbell in 1990. Survivors include two children, Michael L. Campbell and wife, Rie Poirier-Campbell of Canton, Conn., and Mary Campbell-Barry and husband, Will, of Cumberland, Maine; a brother, Bruce Campbell and wife, CarolAnn, of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Deanna Barry and Kayla Barry, both of Cumberland; and partner, Shelli Mosier of Amarillo. Suttle, pastor of San Jacinto Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Ross was born July 10, 1928, in Amarillo and had been a lifetime resident. He had been a locomotive engineer with more than 30 years of service with Burlington Northern retiring in 1993. He was a veteran of the Korean War in the Army. He was a member of local union No. 1313. He married Velma Culpepper in 1966 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jo Dees; and two brothers, Harold and Robert. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Glenis Tucker and husband, Don, of Dallas; a son, Dan L. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dr. Chester Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Walker was a longtime resident of South Fork. She died at her home after a battle with cancer. She was born in Carey, Texas, on Aug. 5, 1940, to Thomas E. and Vera A. Franks. The family moved to Amarillo when she was 6 months old. She lived in Amarillo from 1941 to 1984, 42 years, where she then met and married Horace Walker on June 16, 1961. Then she moved her family to South Fork remaining there for 18 years until her death. She enjoyed the great outdoors of Colorado. She liked to go jeeping in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. She had a love of birds and can now fly high with them. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth S. Walker, on Nov. 3, 1988. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Janet Nelson of Grand Junction; her parents, Thomas and Vera Franks of Amarillo; two brothers, Jimmy Franks and Danny Franks, both of Amarillo; and a granddaughter, Sabrina Nelson of Grand Junction. Mrs. Davis was born March 9, 1932, in Sayer, Okla., to Charles and Viola Lightner. She lived in Amarillo from 1935 to 1978 working for Nunn Electric as an accounts payable clerk, then moved to Las Cruces, N.M., and worked as a bookkeeper. In 1999 she moved to Carrollton working as a document preparations clerk for Scan Data. Survivors include two daughters, Judy E.
