Carter, 24, died Monday, April 29, 2002. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Carter was a semitruck driver and was manager and vice-president of Carter's Mercantile Hardware in Miami. He was a member of United Methodist Church. Survivors include his parents, Neel and Janice Carter of Miami; four sisters, Cindy Brunholtz of Richfield, Kan., Debbie Gallimore of Pueblo, Colo., Lorri Loeffelholz of Turpin, Okla., and Angela Burgess of Eastridge, Tenn.; two brothers, Rick Claassen of Richfield and Ty Carter of Tunnel Hill, Ga.; his grandparents, Clara Mae Carter of Clarendon, Arthur and Faye Jones of Canadian and Fred Claassen of Richfield; and his great-grandmother, Orvice Claassen of Richfield. "Hank" Logsdon Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Robison Chapel of the Plains at First Christian Church with the Rev. James Cobb, senior minister, and the Rev. Marvin James, minister of Family Life, officiating. A second service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church in Nash, Okla., with the Rev. Garth Blake, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be in New Home Cemetery in Nash. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo, 2820 Virginia Circle. Other arrangements are by Ladasau-Evans Funeral Home of Enid. Mr. Logsdon was born on the family farm near Nash on Jan. 22, 1917. He graduated from Nash High School in 1935 and Northwestern State College (now university) in Alva, Okla., in 1940 with a bachelor of science degree. He intended to enter a teaching career but was drafted into the Army in 1941, serving until 1946 as a medical administrative corps officer. He had tours in Okinawa and the Pacific Theatre. He married Virginia Leigh West on June 7, 1944, in El Paso. After his discharge, he and his wife and son relocated to North Carolina where he worked in veterans training for the State Board of Education. He returned to Texas and entered Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol School graduating in April 1951. He began a 31-year career as a Texas Highway Patrolman and later as a Texas Governor's Security Officer. He and his wife moved to Amarillo in 1984 to be near their grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of Church of the Brethren and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Palo Duro Masonic Lodge No. 1239, Ben Hur Shrine and an affiliated past patron of Amarillo Chapter 787, Order of the Eastern Star. He was respected by his friends and loved by his family. He was a worthy member of the "greatest generation," a quiet hero who will be missed but not forgotten. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Roy Jr. and John; and a sister, Juanita. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Logsdon and wife, Becky; five grandchildren, Matthew Logsdon and wife, Darcie, and Bethany Logsdon, all of Nashville, Tenn., Mark Logsdon and wife, Ashley, of Amarillo, and Joseph Logsdon and Jeremy Logsdon, both of Dallas; a great-grandson, Owen Logsdon of Nashville; and two sisters, Bess Shriver of Enid, Okla., and Frances Hite of Cherryvale, Kan. Amarillo Globe-News, May 2, 2002 Josephine Kuykendall "Josie" Wyatt Josephine Kuykendall "Josie" Wyatt, 81, of Amarillo died Monday, April 29, 2002, in Dallas. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Chapel in Lowndes Hall with the Rev. Mary Glover, associate rector, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Wyatt, a lifelong resident of Amarillo, was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Amarillo, the daughter of Myrtle and John Kuykendall. She was married to Dr. John C. Wyatt Jr., an Amarillo oral surgeon. She received her undergraduate degree in 1942 from Texas Woman's University in Denton and her master's of art in 1976 from West Texas State University in Canyon. She was an accomplished watercolorist and exhibited her paintings in Amarillo, Red River and Taos. Her love of the plains of north Texas and the mountains of northern New Mexico were reflected in her paintings and in her life. She was active in various clubs and organizations over the years including Triad, JUGS, Garden Club and Junior League of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. Survivors include a sister, Sue Tucker of Amarillo; a daughter, Judy Arnold of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Creed Wyatt of Dallas; three grandchildren, Christopher Tippie of Conifer, Colo., Kathryn Tippie of Red River, N.M., and Claire Wyatt of Dallas. Jerry Davey of Pleasant Valley Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Hine was born in Channing. He served in the Navy during World War II. He married Pauline in Dumas on June 12, 1970. He worked as a pipefitter and superintendent for Plains Plumbing Co. for more than 30 years. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 196. He was a member of Grand Squares and Pioneer Promenaders and Diamond Jubilees. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Grady Hine, Frank Hine and Kenneth Hine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Dean Jr., in 1986. Local arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Hutson was born in Paradise on Aug. 26, 1917, to Hugh Smith and Eunice Shannon. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1935 and received a degree from the school of cosmetology. She married A.K. Hutson in Amarillo in 1938. They moved to Odessa in February 1943 where she was a resident until moving back to Amarillo in January 2001 to be close to her daughter and first-born son. Our mother had a strong faith in her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist. She was a loving and kind person with a beautiful outlook on life. She always took her children to church and was a strong influence in their upbringing. She had a soft voice, always forgiving and loving toward others. She was a gentle and caring mother who stayed at home and was always there for her children. Being a good mother-in-law and grandmother was important to her. Her grandchildren adored and loved her greatly. She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Michael Jordan Hutson; a granddaughter, Katty Marie Brown Graham; three brothers, Haywood Shannon, Raymond Shannon and W.B. Shannon; and four sisters, Jessie Grote, Mimi Jones, Ora Huebner and Aileen Shannon. Survivors include a daughter, Patty Pool of Amarillo; a son-in-law, John Pool of Amarillo; four sons, Wayne Hutson of Amarillo, and Kenneth Hutson and wife, Kathryn, Mike Hutson and G.R. They had four children, Charlotte West-Haley in 1942, Paula Sue West-Snider in 1944, Janie Christine West in 1946 and Betty Maxine West in 1949. She worked in the office for Cal Farley's Boys Ranch from 1966 until her retirement in 1986. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe.
