Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Sandoval was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Roy, N.M., to Antonio and Elvera Sandoval. He was raised in Roy and married Mary Baca before moving to Dalhart in 1942. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister. Survivors include his wife; a son, Frank Sandoval of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Stella Gallegos of Dalhart; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, May 3, 2002 Mildred Lindsey Housden CLARENDON - Mildred Lindsey Housden, 84, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Community Fellowship Church with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. Mrs. Housden was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Ivanho. Her mother died when she was 14 months old and her family moved to Collingsworth County when she was very young. She grew up on a farm with her daddy, three brothers and four sisters. She attended schools at Lutie and Samnorwood, graduating from Wellington High School in 1936. She loved sports and played basketball. She married Orville Housden in 1939 at Lelia Lake. Clarendon has been her home most of her married life except for 15 years when she and her husband lived in Bryan. After going to school and becoming an LVN, she worked at a retirement home in Bryan for 13 years. After moving back to Clarendon, she worked at Medical Center for 12 years before retiring in 1995. She was a charter member of Community Fellowship Church and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Casket bearers will be Jimmy Johnson, Johnny Davis, Larry Davis, Jack Eads, Eddy Eads and Darrell Leffew. Honorary bearers will be members of VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994; her parents; four sisters; and three brothers. Hughes St. Mrs. Cherry was born in Conroe, the oldest of 14 children born to John and Carrie Tolbert of Fostoria. She was the devoted wife of Nathaniel Cherry Sr., known as "Dad" Cherry. They moved to Amarillo in 1941 and were married 63 years. She was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as "Big Momma." She was loved and deeply respected by her family and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and she had a great love for flowers. Her flower beds were always full of four o'clocks, hollyhocks, roses and geraniums. She lived a full and blessed life, always surrounded by her children and grandchildren. The family wishes to thank our loving special family of Heritage Convalescent Center, our friends of Crown of Texas Hospice and our loving family of Johnson Chapel AME Church. Her parents, Henderson Pleasant Cole Sr. and Margaret Bowden Cole, moved to Wilmington to raise her and her eight siblings. She met Henry James Rogers IV while in college in Maxton, N.C., and they married on Sept. 6, 1926. They were residents of Wilmington until moving to Birmingham in 1954. She was an active member of Trinity Methodist Church in Wilmington, First Methodist and Trinity Methodist churches in Birmingham and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo. She received a lifetime recognition pin for her service to women's circles and missions in the Methodist church. She volunteered her services for many organizations over the years and was avid in her support of the Bethany House Mission in Birmingham. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Henderson Cole Jr. and William Bright Cole; and six sisters, Eva Pearsall, Elsie Jones, Esther Schnibben, Rena Parks, Margaret Bovette and Ada Porter. Amarillo Globe-News, May 3, 2002 Juan Ennis Blackburn AUSTIN - Juan Ennis Blackburn, 63, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Texas State Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Spearman. Arrangements are by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home of Austin. Mr. Blackburn was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Hamilton County. He graduated from Spearman High School in 1957 and West Texas State University in Canyon in 1962. He then went on to graduate from St. Mary's Law School in San Antonio in 1968 and became licensed to practice law in the state of Texas that same year. He practiced law in San Antonio in 1969 and in Spearman from August 1969 until July 1979. He was 84th District Judge from July 1979 until December 1992. He became a visiting judge from 1993 until his retirement in September 2000. He married Nancy Hess Blackburn on Aug. 6, 1993. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Denise Bridges, Sara Deuillet and Adrian Robinson; a stepdaughter, Hillary Stull; a stepson, Stephen Hudson; and five grandchildren.
