Cabot Brannon SHAMROCK - H. Cabot Brannon, 93, died Monday, May 27, 2002, in Kermit. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church of Shamrock with the Rev. Steve Rogers of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Brannon was born April 12, 1909. He married Lola B. Holmes on Aug. 5, 1934, in Shamrock. He owned and operated Brannon's Shamrock Builders Supply for several years. He was a veteran, serving in World War II. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Shamrock. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2000; and two brothers, Ben F. Brannon and Robley S. Brannon. Mr. Huse resided most of his life in Spearman, but lived with his daughter in Surfside the past few years. He was married to Marietta Huse for 56 years. Amarillo Globe-News, May 30, 2002 Johnnye Blackwell FRIONA - Johnnye Blackwell, 87, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Vergil Ichtertz of Lubbock and the Rev. Mark Stovall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. Blackwell had resided in Amarillo since 1952, moving from Fort Worth. She married J.W. "Blackie" Blackwell on May 9, 1934. He was district commander of the Highway Patrol in Amarillo for 23 years. She taught second grade at Castleberry school in Fort Worth and at Humphrey Highland in Amarillo for a number of years. She was the helping teacher for Amarillo ISD and helped new teachers into the Amarillo School System. She retired as a supervisor in special education from Amarillo ISD. She was a graduate of Lockhart High School, received her bachelor's degree from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and her master's degree from West Texas State University. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and a lifetime member of Eastern Star at Dripping Springs. She was a life member of Texas State Teachers Association and Amarillo Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Sorority for women educators. She had lived at Prairie Acres in Friona for the past four years. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 30, 1987. Survivors include two sons, Joseph W. Blackwell Jr. of Alexandria, Va., and John R. McMahon Jr. SHAMROCK - Richard V. McMahon Jr., 83, died Thursday, May 23, 2002. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 15th Avenue and Martin Road in Amarillo, with J.A. Farber, retired Church of Christ minister, officiating. Mr. McMahon retired from Phillips Petroleum in Borger. He had been partners with his father in McMahon & Sons Blacksmith and Welding in Dimmitt for several years. He was Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department and Commandant of the VFW in Dimmitt. He had lived in Shamrock for the last 12 years. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Fergason was born Oct. 16, 1912, in Meridian. Moving to Rhome as a small child, she grew up on a farm there, and graduated as salutatorian from Rhome High School. She attended Abilene Christian College, North Texas at Denton, Daniel Baker College and West Texas State University, receiving her bachelor's and master's degree from WTSU in Canyon. A lifelong educator, she began teaching in country schools at Briar, Fowlkes, Slaton and Electra, continuing her career in Amarillo, moving here in 1944. She taught elementary school at Pleasant Valley, Margaret Wills and Olsen Park. She retired in 1975. She was a member of First Christian Church, teaching both kindergarten and adult classes. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.E. "Earl" Fergason; and a daughter, Wanda Deane. Survivors include a sister-in-law; two nieces; and a nephew. After graduation in 1933, she went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She had lived in Amarillo since 1950. She married Warren O. Tuckness in 1951 at Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was the last remaining child of Joe and Emma Singleterry's nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; and a son, Dale in 1958. Survivors include a son, Bryan Tuckness and wife, Leslie, of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Alexis Guggenheim and husband, Chris, of Houston and Morgan Tuckness of Amarillo; and a grandson, Teal Tuckness of Amarillo. She married Adolph Pustejovsky on March 27, 1954, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.E. Conner and Roxie Conner Norris; and a daughter, Debbie Driver Young. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Pam Daniel and Terri Mix, both of Amarillo; her stepfather, Jim Norris of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Chris, Tiffany and Bree; and an adopted granddaughter, Leisa. He retired from McCormick Advertising with 40 years of service as a commercial photographer. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
