Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Clifford Dane of the church officiating. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Adame was married to John A. Shewbert, who preceded her in death in 1986. She married Frank Adame on July 10, 1993. She was born in Randall County on Nov. 29, 1916, the youngest of four sisters and one brother. She attended Jowell Rural School and Canyon High School. She received her teaching degree from West Texas State College in 1936 and a master's degree in 1953. She began her teaching career in Dalhart in 1936. She taught for 41 years in various positions as a teacher and principal. Her first seven years of teaching was in first grade at Kella Hill. She became principal of that school and later transferred to North Ward. She served as principal at Kella Hill and North Ward for 23 years. Later she became director of curriculum. She belonged to Texas State Teachers Association, National Education Association and Retired Teachers Association. She belonged to an honor teachers organization, Delta Kappa Gamma, of which she was chapter president at one time. She was honored with a life membership in Dalhart Parent-Teacher Association. She received the honor of being Woman of the Year of Beta Sigma Phi in 1968. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dalhart of which she became a member in 1936. She was a faithful member of the church choir for many years. Survivors include her husband; a stepson, Robert Adame of Wichita, Kan.; five nieces, Earlene Fite of Amarillo, LaVonne Sharp of New Home, Margie Fowler of Gainesville, Caroline Hawes of Bryan and Dannie Braswell of Irving; and four nephews, Clyde Fewell of Odessa, Kenneth Bailey of Abilene, Ervin Davis of Happy and Bernard Fewell of Canyon. He was born July 18, 1940, to Paul and Oma Lee Havens. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Baker, on Oct. 14, 1961, just recently celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. He began a career in the auto parts business in 1959. He opened City Parts Company Inc. in 1967, and it continues to thrive after 35 years. He was a lifetime member of BPOE 1113, where he served as past exalted ruler and a past trustee. He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and served on the board of directors of the Greenbelt Bowl Association. He was on the board of directors of the Automobile Wholesalers of Texas. He was affectionately known as "Boom-Pa" to his grandsons and great-nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, June 5, 2002 Jasper William "Jub" Thompson MIAMI - Jasper William "Jub" Thompson, 81, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church in Miami with the Rev. Kevin Hollowell of Winnsboro and George Lundberg of Miami officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery with full military honors by Altus Air Force Base, Altus, Okla. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Thompson was born Nov. 14, 1920, in Roberts County on the Price Ranch. He was the oldest child of Ruben E. and Viva M. Thompson. He graduated from Miami High School in May 1938 and entered Texas A&M the following fall. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in May 1942. He was commissioned into the Air Force as a second lieutenant, serving four years as a munitions officer during World War II. His primary job was to make target analysis and determine the time and tonnage of bombs which were dropped over Japan. He was promoted to major during his active duty and received great satisfaction from having served his country. He continued his military career in the Air Force Reserves, retiring in 1980 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He returned home to Miami after World War II and engaged in the farm and ranch operations until 1948. In 1949 he purchased the Co-Op Hardware Appliance business and operated it as Thompson Farm and Home Supply until his retirement in 1980. During this time he was an active member of the community, serving 12 years on the Miami school board, part of that time spent as president. He served four years on the city council, was president of Men's Service Club, worshipful master of the Masonic Lodge and served 37 years as an active elder in First Christian Church. He served as county chairman of the Boy Scout Drive, a 42-year member of American Legion, a member of Chamber of Commerce and rental housing authority, and held various jobs on Roberts County Livestock Board. He served as the Veteran's County Service officer for many years. Of his and his wife's lives, he said, "Our life's goals we feel have been essentially accomplished. We thank the good Lord for all his blessings. We are grateful for friends, neighbors and family." Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Dr. Paul E. Thompson and wife, Margot, of Omaha, Neb., and Alan "Butch" Thompson and wife, Kay, of Miami; a daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Hawkins and husband, Don, of The Woodlands; a sister, Lorene Paris and husband, J.D., of Miami; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and other relatives. Mr. Schroeder was born to Emil and Willa Belle Schroeder on April 25, 1926, in Fowler, Colo. He married Mary Longley on Sept. 25, 1949, in Wichita Falls. He worked in the county clerk's office in Wichita Falls for 17 years. In 1965, he moved to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch where he retired as business manager in 1989. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and served on various boards at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo. He was active in Kiwanis Club where he served as president of Vega chapter and as lieutenant governor of District 6. He served as a county commissioner of Oldham County for several years. He was a volunteer at BSA Hospice of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Eaton of Burkburnett.
