Rosary and vigil was at 7 p.m. Friday in Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. David Contreras of the church officiating. Burial will be in Kelton Cemetery in Kelton. Mrs. Blevins moved to Canadian in 1969 from Pecos, N.M. She married Cecil D. Blevins on June 27, 1970. Survivors include her mother, Valentina Vigil of Pecos; two daughters, Diana Busby of Midland and Tanja Austin of Irving; a son, Rick Blevins of Borger; three sisters, Theresa Manno of Amarillo, and Dolly Vigil and Jo Huntington, both of Pecos; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, June 8, 2002 Bobby Allen PLAINVIEW - Bobby Allen, 76, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Lubbock. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will be in Kress Cemetery by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home. Mr. Allen was born July 21, 1925, in Leonard. He served in the Navy for three years during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Joanne; two daughters, Linda Murphree of Plainview and Susan Allen of Amarillo; a son, Mark Allen of Quitaque; six grandsons; and two brothers, Wayne Allen of Josephine and Donald Allen of Wichita, Kan. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church Building Fund; or a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, June 8, 2002 Amarillo Lindy Ward Lindy Ward, 74, of Amarillo died Friday, June 7, 2002. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in West Amarillo Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Ward of Northview Christian Church in Taylor officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Ward was born June 15, 1927, in Canton, where he grew up on a farm and attended school. He came to Amarillo in 1951 as a tax appraiser, and the same year, he married Loyse Hudson Ward in Amarillo. He was employed as a registered professional appraiser for Pritchard and Abbott for 42 years. He held membership in Texas Association of Assessing Officers and County Tax Assessors Association. He was a member of Bivins Foundation Board and served as a deacon and elder at West Amarillo Christian Church for many years. He will be remembered for the love of his family and church. He was always ready to give wise advice and to be the advocate of those in need. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bill Ward of Taylor, and Jim Ward and Paul Ward, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren, David Ward of Navasota, Crista Ward of Plano and Tracie Norrid of Amarillo; and two sisters, Jackie Shinn of Canton and Ruth Richards of Huntsville. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Ashford was born and raised in Trent. She married Luther Ashford at Plainview in 1944. They moved to Amarillo in 1944. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992. Survivors include a son, Leelan W. Ashford of Amarillo; and a brother, J.T. Freeman of Amarillo; and a granddaughter. Mr. Johnson came to Clovis three years ago. He was a self-employed painter and a Baptist. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Irving Anthony officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat. Mrs. Summers was born Jan. 3, 1922, in Corsicana. She was a seamstress and a member of First Baptist Church of Tool. Pallbearers will be Rusty French, Jamie French, Jerry French, Zane Archer, Clint Archer and Karen Archer Galloway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Summers; and a daughter, Barbara French. Survivors include a daughter, Reba Archer and husband, Richard, of Grand Prairie; a son-in-law, Jack French of Weatherford; a brother, Dewey Scruggs of Corsicana; three sisters, Pauline Slater and Maudina Moore, both of Corsicana, and Mary Wright of Dallas; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Globe-News, June 8, 2002 Canyon Wayne V. Wirt Sr. Wayne V. Wirt Sr., 75, of Canyon, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Lowrie, pastor, and Dr. Strauss Atkinson, pastor emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mr. Wirt was born Aug. 9, 1926, at 1208 Fourth Ave., in Canyon, and has remained a resident for most of his life. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he and his wife, Barbara Jean Britt Wirt, made Canyon their home. He was a graduate of Canyon High School and attended Oklahoma State University, Amarillo College and Chicago Refrigeration Institute. He was an electrical contractor and refrigeration expert. He owned and operated Wayne Wirt Electric for many years. At the time of his death, he owned WIRTCO-Residential and Commercial Properties and Storage Rental. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Canyon, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Khiva Shriner, and a member of Canyon Chamber of Commerce, Amarillo Apartment Association and Texas Mini-Storage Association. Pallbearers include Joe Ziegler, Henry "Tikey" Parker, Ken Williams, Larry Hunter, Bob White and Don Johnston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo Dale Wirt and Ildagert Lillian Wirt; a brother, Lorenzo Dale "Skeeter" Wirt; and a sister, Mary Catherine Hough. Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Jean Wirt Tardy; a son, Wayne Vincent Wirt Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Dona Jean Wirt; two sisters, Martha Carlee Hix and Martha Quillen Harmon; a brother, John Louis Quillen; five grandchildren, Don Carl Tardy Jr., Christopher Tardy, Tiffany Sims, Jared Wirt and Terra M'Laker; and four great-grandchildren, Gracelyn Tardy, Micah Tardy, Joshua Tardy and Jacob Wirt.
