Gammage PAMPA - Elton R. Gammage, 78, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Kyle Ohsfeldt, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Gammage had been a Pampa resident since the 1940s, moving from East Texas. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. Survivors include a daughter, Wendy Gammage of Pampa; a sister, Ann Malone of Pampa; and two brothers, Edward Gammage of Fort Worth and Ray Gammage of Sacramento, Calif. Amarillo Globe-News, June 18, 2002 O.C. Rickard PERRYTON - O.C. Rickard, 87, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, in Maud, Okla. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Ochiltree Cemetery with Elmer Delozier officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Rickard was a mechanic and owner of Perryton Safety Lane for 30 years. He worked with Sheriff Ray Phagan as a special deputy and volunteer fireman. Survivors include two sons, Charles Rickard of Crowley and Tom Rickard of Maud; a daughter, Brenda Griffin of Perryton, Okla.; a sister, Edith of Russellville, Ark.; a brother, Billy Rickard of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lee, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Starkey was born March 26, 1906, in Roanoke. She passed away in Woodridge Care Facility in Grapevine on Sunday. Survivors include a son, B.A. Purkey of Lone Mound Community; a daughter, La Verne Nunn of Bedford; a stepdaughter, Freddie Cody of Liberal, Kan.; a brother, Kenneth Reynolds of Paso Robles, Calif.; a sister, Bea Boyer; 12 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Eddie Tubbs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Murphy was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Young County. She had lived in Dumas since 1943. She married Granville Murphy on Sept. 2, 1947, in Seymour. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She taught second and third grade at Sunset Elementary School for many years. She taught school a total of 33 years. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 14, 1997. Survivors include two nieces, Susan Perrin of Hereford and Linda Wright of Hooker, Okla; and a host of friends. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Georgia St. Mrs. Barton was born in Indian Territory, in Ardmore, Okla., to Docia and Robert M. Bullock. She married Marion Andrew Barton on Dec. 23, 1923, in Memphis. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Marion Andrew Barton Jr. in 1929; and her husband in 1986. Mr. Trammel was born Jan. 5, 1928, in Hardeman County, to Henry and Nettie Taylor Trammel. He married Magdalene Foley in Childress on July 29, 1950. He was a member of Amarillo Senior Citizens Widows Card Group, Incredible Pizza Widows Card Group and Thursday Evening Widows Card Group. He retired from Panhandle Gravel after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1991; a brother; and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Trish O'Conner and husband, Jerry, of Wildorado; two grandsons, Todd Hickam and wife, Angie, of Crowley, and J. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery in Tecumseh by Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Chester was born Feb. 9, 1929, in Tecumseh to Isaac Jasper and Minnie Lee Cargill Kingham. She attended Temple Hill and Tecumseh schools. She lived in Borger, Texas, many years before returning to Shawnee in 1979. She worked as a receptionist at St. Gregory's for 10 years. She also taught ceramics at the Senior Citizen Center in Shawnee. She married Lloyd George Chester on May 4, 1942, in Tecumseh. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Shawnee. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband; two brothers; and three sisters.
