Johnson STRATFORD - James "Jim" C. Johnson, 62, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Metzger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery with a military honor guard by Cannon Air Force Base of Clovis, N.M. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Johnson was born April 20, 1940, in Valley, Miss. He had been a Stratford resident since 1965. He married Ann Burgess on July 11, 1965, in Stratford. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree from the University of Mississippi and a master's degree in business from the University of Utah. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Air Force. While in the Air Force he was in supply, munition, explosive ordnance disposal and aircraft maintenance. He was the Sherman County Veteran Affairs Officer. Survivors include his wife; a son, James C. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Murl Tennyson; and a sister, Lois Adams. She was a member of Church of Christ, Gold Star Wives Club of America and Ladies V.A. Auxiliary. She was a very pleasant lady and loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Johnson was a piano teacher, often playing in nursing homes, a concert pianist and soloist. She played for numerous churches including L.L.L. and S.S. Classes, as well as radio.
