Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Spangler officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Smith Funeral Home. Mrs. Ritchie was born Aug. 28, 1952, in Quanah. She was a resident of Quanah until 1985, when she moved to Elgin. Survivors include a daughter, Brook D. Oliver of Elgin; a son, Dale Ritchie of Quanah; two brothers, Wayne Mobley of Spencer, Okla., and Johnny Mobley of Quanah; a sister, Margie Dodson of Altus, Okla; and three grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, July 3, 2002 Irene Welling MATADOR - Irene Welling, 80, died Monday, July 1, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Boggs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Welling was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Maricopa, Calif., and had been a resident of Matador since 1941. She married Freddie H. Welling in Texline. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Matador. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 31, 1991; and a son Stanley, in 1973. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy James of Arlington; four sons, Jim Welling of Midlothian, Ron Welling and Frank Welling, both of Amarillo, and Gary Welling of Dallas; a brother, Tommy McBride of Farmington, N.M.; and five grandchildren. Rickey Lawrence, pastor of Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Burns was born Jan. 4, 1933, in Cottle County. He was a lifelong resident of Cottle and Motley Counties, living in Matador since 1975. He formerly had worked on the Swenson Ranch for several years. He later was self-employed as a farmer and rancher. He was married to Debra Taylor at Las Vegas, N.M. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Paducah. Jim Green and Jim Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Pearson had lived in Bailey County since 1944. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Edna; three sons, James E. Pearson of Lubbock, Riley "Lee" Pearson of Levelland and J.C. Pearson Jr. of Muleshoe; three daughters, Ruby E. Amarillo Globe-News, July 3, 2002 Timmie Baskin Brown STRATFORD - Timmie Baskin Brown, 103, died Monday, July 1, 2002, in Amarillo. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Brent Farney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Brown was born Aug. 23, 1898, in Donley County. She was a resident of Sherman County since April 1903. She grew to womanhood in the Ruby community, attending the Ruby School, Stratford High School, State Normal School for Teachers at Denton and West Texas College in Canyon. She married Joe Brown on Nov. 22, 1917, in Stratford. She taught school at Indiana Colony School in Dallam County, Stevens, Palo Duro School and in Stratford grade and junior high school, all located in Sherman County. She was associated with her husband in his business for many years. She was a life member of First Baptist Church and taught there many years. She received many awards and honors during her lifetime including Distinguished Service Award given by Women's Forum, Citizen of the Year and Old Timer's Queen. One of the things she enjoyed in her later years was authoring a column, Timi's Tidbits, for the weekly paper. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Marijo; and a great-great-granddaughter, Claire Austin. Survivors include a son, James Baskin Brown and wife, Betty, of Stratford; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.; and a host of relatives and friends. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs and Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Drake was born in Waynoka, Okla., and raised in the Texas Panhandle. He graduated from West Texas High School and attended West Texas College for four years. While working for Santa Fe Railway from 1947 to 1950, he joined the Army in 1950 and served in the Korean conflict. He was discharged in 1952 and returned to Santa Fe Railway, retiring in 1985. He married Elizabeth Harper on Nov. 21, 1954, in Amarillo. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife of Canyon; a stepson, Weldon Coldiron of Pleasant; a stepdaughter, Marko RaDeen Arnold of Smiths, Ark.; a stepgranddaughter, Leslie Anne Coldiron of Pleasant; a stepgrandson, Shaun Arnold of Smiths; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Reavis of Slaton and Irma Caudle of Wylie. Adams, 81, died Saturday, June 29, 2002. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Getz Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Adams was born May 27, 1921, in Clarendon, Texas, and served as a First Lieutenant in the Army during World War II. He received his master's degree at West Texas State College in Canyon. He had been a resident of New Mexico since 1951, then retired as an educator and guidance counselor in 1981. Woods ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Marian E. Woods, 91, died Monday, June 24, 2002. Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel in Topeka, Kan. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery by Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel of Topeka. Mrs. Woods was a native of Topeka, Kan., where she spent most of her life. She worked at the Menninger Foundation for 17 years from 1958 until retirement in 1975. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Sikes of Amarillo, Texas, and Elaine Koehler of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
