Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Dumas Cemetery with Mike Smith, minister of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Mrs. Rae was born in Elkhart, Kan., on Oct. 30, 1918, to Daniel Replogle Shuss and Grace P. Ewalt Shuss. She married A.W. Rae on April 13, 1937, in Amarillo. They recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. The first three years of their marriage were spent in Rogers (Bell) before moving to Dumas in 1941. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ and a 50-year member of Chapter No. 653 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her husband of Amarillo; two daughters, Nancy Lechner and husband, Don, of Tulia and Janice Levy and husband, Arthur, of Baton Rouge, La.; a son, Alan Rae and wife, Debbie, of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Pearl Taylor of Dumas and Martha Cator of Amarillo; a brother, Earl Shuss of Ponca City, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176; or a favorite charity. The body will be available for viewing from 1 to 7 p.m. today. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Amarillo Globe-News, July 4, 2002 Karene Ethel Krauel FRIONA - Karene Ethel Krauel, 61, died Friday, June 28, 2002. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Union Congregational Church with the Rev. Ken Francis of Camarillo, Calif., officiating. Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. Krauel married Herman Krauel on Sept. 24, 1960, in Albuquerque, N.M. She had lived in Friona for the past nine years, moving from Plainview. She was instrumental in getting the meals for seniors group started in Friona. The group started with 10 to 15 people and now serves 90 to 100 people. She was a counselor with MHMR for several years and presently was a licensed professional counselor. She owned her own business, New Hope Counseling, doing contract work with Parmer County schools. She counseled children in Friona, Lazbuddie, Bovina and Farwell schools. She was chaplain at Prairie Acres Nursing Home and contracted with Parmer County Community Hospital as a counselor. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lauren Hall of Lockney; a son, Jeffrey Krauel of San Diego; three brothers, Jimmy Flowers of Phoenix, Emmet Flowers of Odessa and Tommy Flowers of Albuquerque; and two grandchildren, Alexis Hall and Lucas M.T. Hall, both of Lockney. Amarillo Globe-News, July 4, 2002 Sadako "Sada" Yoshida Kuroki BORGER - Sadako "Sada" Yoshida Kuroki, 92, died Thursday, June 6, 2002. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Roger Harworth, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Kuroki was born Aug. 25, 1909, in Los Angeles. She was restaurant manager of the Deluxe Cafe in Borger. Survivors include two sons, Claude Kuroki of Borger and Gary Kuroki of Midwest City, Okla.; a daughter, Sharon Beckman of New York City; a half-brother, Lewis Iwata of Monterey Park, Utah; a sister, Takako Suzuki of Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jackson was born Jan. 10, 1915, in Roaring Springs. She was a longtime resident of Quanah. Survivors include three brothers, Earl Jackson of Houston, Homer Jackson of Amarillo and Royce Jackson of Lubbock; and a sister, Helen Joyce Burch of Quanah. The family suggests memorials be to Quanah Senior Citizens. Amarillo Globe-News, July 4, 2002 Addieree Julia Bryant DALHART - Addieree Julia Bryant, 96, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Hartley with Dr. Clifford Dane, minister of senior adults at First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hartley Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Bryant was born Sept. 11, 1905, in Oakwood, Ga., to Andrew Jackson and Louvenia Tatum Bryant. She started school in Dalhart, then transferred to Hartley where she graduated from Hartley High School in 1924. She attended West Texas Normal College, now West Texas A&M, and graduated in 1942. She received her master's degree from Sul Ross College in Alpine. She taught school for 31 years in Hartley County Schools. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Hartley and Dalhart. She was a member of Federation Women's Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and Texas State Teacher's Association. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include six nephews, J.W. Bryant, Grady Bryant, Wilbur Bryant and Bobby Glen Green, all of Hartley, Roy Dawkins of Atlanta and Malcolm Bryant of Amarillo; five nieces, Anna Lou Perkins of Whitehorse, Frances Dicky and Louvenia Dawkins, both of Atlanta, Betty Jo Hudgins of Hartley and Joyce Moreland of Alpharetta, Ga.; and her guardian and great-nephew and great-niece, Robert Green II and wife, Ann, of Hartley. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Gilbert Peters officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Rutledge was a resident of Amarillo most of her life before moving to Graham in November 2001. She married Elzy L. Rutledge on Sept. 8, 1940, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in February 2002. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Frazier and Donna Waldron, both of Graham, and Peggy Sprang of Amarillo; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Amarillo Globe-News, July 4, 2002 R.W. "Bob" Hertel R.W. "Bob" Hertel, 70, of Amarillo died Monday, July 1, 2002. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with the Rev. Dale Bigham of Arden Road Baptist Church officiating. Cremation was by Memory Gardens Crematory. Mr. Hertel had lived in Amarillo since 1950. He had been the owner of Hertel Restaurant and Denny's on Paramount and was a butcher. He was a past president of the Amarillo Restaurant Association. He had worked as an aircraft electrician for Bell Helicopter and Boeing Aircraft until retirement. He served in the Air Force in the Korean War and taught math and electronics in the Air Force. He was a 49-year member of Prince Masonic Lodge No. 231 in Princeton, Ind. He married Benita Gibson on Dec. 30, 1952, in Evansville, Ill. He had refereed all sports in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Lawlis on June 29, 1996. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Randell of Amarillo; three sons, Robert W. Bill Hertel Jr., Kenneth M. Hertel and Billy Hertel, all of Amarillo; his father, Marvin Hertel of Princeton; a sister, Milita Minnis of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cline was born Jan. 27, 1947, in Memphis, Tenn. She married James Cline on Jan. 2, 1981, in Texas City, Texas. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Dana Beggs of Hatfield, and Sandra Spears and Carol Werst, both of Mena; three sons, Cody Dunn of Mena, A.J. Hickman of Smithville, Okla., and Matt Cline of Mena; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stephens was born Aug. 28, 1916, in San Angelo, one of three children born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas Cooper Jr. She married Ira Stephens on June 13, 1936, in San Antonio and this union produced three children. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of Amarillo. For many years she was a medical secretary in the office of her sister, Dr. Betty Cooper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Patica Ann Duke of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and her sister of Amarillo. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Stephens of Lubbock and Richard Stephens of Quilcene, Wash.; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Thomas Cooper III of Dover, Del.
