Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Larned City Cemetery of Larned, Kan. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Stella, Mo., the son of Arch and Mary Sanders. He married Lorena Waggoner in Larned. She preceded him in death in 1990. He then married Irene Brannick. He retired after 50 years as a truck driver, having worked for the Shur-Gro Co. of Hereford. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorena; a son, Bill Knight; and a sister, Ana May Compton. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ed Sanders of Hereford, Harold Knight of Joplin, Mo., Harlyn Knight of Wichita, Kan., and Norman Knight of Dodge City, Kan.; five brothers, Kenny Sanders of Nessa, Ore., Lester Sanders of Stella, Mo., Wesley Sanders of Silsbee, James Sanders of Tulsa, Okla., and Jerry Sanders of Granby, Mo.; three sisters, Christine Dunbar and Avanell Tipton, both of Neosho, Mo., and Juanita Eubanks of Howard, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Kings Manor Retirement Home, 400 Ranger, Hereford, TX 79045; or to the Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. Jefferson, Amarillo, TX 79109. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Colonial Chapel of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview with Jim Price, Kevin Naillieux and Darren Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. Williamson was born May 5, 1913, in Eastland. He served in the European Theater during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; two daughters, Sharon Wahlin of Des Moines, Iowa, and Marilyn Brown of Copeland, Kan.; two sons, Layne Williamson of Tulia and Jerry Williamson of Granbury; a sister, Ethridge Massengill of Grand Falls; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Brock was born July 13, 1946, in Pampa. He had lived in Pampa most of his life and was a member of Hobart Baptist Church. Amarillo Globe-News, July 15, 2002 Edith Gwendolyn Seay ESTELLINE - Edith Gwendolyn Seay, 82, died Sunday, July 14, 2002. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. B.G. Hill, Baptist minister from Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Estelline Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Seay was born Jan. 27, 1920, in Haslet and was a resident of Clarendon for six years before moving to Estelline 46 years ago. She married Thomas Howard Seay on July 27, 1941, in Harrold. She had been a teacher in the Estelline Schools for much of her life before her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Estelline. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 16, 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Laynette Seay of Bowie and Elaine Arnwine of Pittsburg; a sister, Faye Hawkins of Galveston; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Serna, 82, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, in Clovis, N.M. Rosary and vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in St. Ann's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church with Juan Carlos Barragan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Serna was a retired farm laborer and veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a former POW. He had lived in Bovina since 1958, moving from Weslaco. He married Felicitas Olivares on Dec. 16, 1940, in Donna. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Andres Serna and Antonio Serna, both of Bovina, Luis Serna Jr. of El Paso, Ruben Serna of Temecula, Calif., and Tomas Serna of Texico, N.M.; seven daughters, Audelia Serna, Irma Hernandez, Yolanda Ramon and Anita Bonham, all of Bovina, Elodia Serna of Farwell, Olga Camara of Fall River, Mass., and Juanita Serna of Springfield, Va.; a sister, Elida Bermea of Weslaco; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Daffern was a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wilbur Daffern, in 1980; and a son, Troy Eugene Daffern, in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Papai of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; a son, C.R. Daffern of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Amarillo Globe-News, July 15, 2002 Nancy Metcalf Merritt Nancy Metcalf Merritt, 48, of Amarillo died Saturday, July 13, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Scott Greer, of the church, Charles Davenport, of First Baptist Church in Tulia, Ken McMeans of Big Spring and Steve McMeans of Brownwood officiating. Burial will be at noon in Rose Hill Cemetery of Tulia by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Merritt attended Wayland Baptist, Hardin-Simmons and Houston Baptist College. She married Ivan Merritt in 1975 at Tulia. He passed away in 1992. They moved to Baton Rouge, La., in 1978. She was employed as a legal assistant for Taylor Porter for 17 years. She moved to Amarillo in August 1989. She was employed as a graphic designer at Et Cetera in Wolflin Village where she was lovingly known as "Aunt Nance." She was involved with the Tascosa High School Football Booster Club. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Amarillo and Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She was a gifted pianist and played for several churches and civic organizations. She also accompanied many children's choirs. Her courage was an inspiration to many and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her mother, Doris Metcalf of Tulia; her father, Darwyn Metcalf of Amarillo; a sister, Sherry Kelley of Amarillo; a brother, Mike Metcalf of Amarillo; and her precious puppies, "Daisy" and "Buster." Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sunset Lane Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Riddles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson had been a mechanic with Duke Energy since 1980. He was an avid golfer and member of the Men's Golf Association. Survivors include his wife, Nancy; a son, Jeremiah Johnson of Guymon; a daughter, Nicole Spry of Guymon; his mother, Pat Johnson of Guymon; a brother, Robby Johnson of Elk City; a sister, Donna Esser of Kismet, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
