Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Holcomb was born to Tony and Troy Williams Holcomb on July 14, 1917, in Elkhart. He married Clara Elizabeth Burnett in Memphis in 1940. He had lived in Wheeler since 1953. He worked at the Carbon Black Plant in Shamrock for several years and was a self-employed carpenter. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; and a grandson. Survivors include his wife; a son, Buck Holcomb and wife, Lavene, of Canadian; two sisters, Corene Keeler of Shamrock and Eva Mae Richerson of Shamrock; two granddaughters, Shara Gail Morishige and Tanya White; and four great-grandchildren. Georgia St. Mrs. Isley joined her late husband, Melvin E. Isley in receiving numerous awards and recognition for contributions to area higher education and non-profit organizations. She and her husband were contributors to West Texas A&M University. Their support included membership in Old Main Society and President's Circle, and supported the Distinguished Lecture Series. In 2001, she made a charitable gift to dedicate the Buffalo Terrace at WTAMU as a memorial gift to her husband. She contributed to the arts, including helping to design and make by hand the costumes for Amarillo's first performance of the Nutcracker. She supported the development of the Lone Star Ballet. Her volunteer work included volunteering with the High Plains Epilepsy Association and work for suicide prevention. She joined her husband in receiving a Golden Nail Award in 1994 from the Chamber of Commerce Arts Committee for financial support from the arts. She was born in 1923 and graduated from Canute High School in 1942. She married Melvin E. Isley in 1943 at Elk City, Okla. During her husband's service during World War II, she moved to Dallas where she worked for Zales Jewelry and its founder, Mr. Zales, in his first jewelry store in Dallas. She then moved with her husband to Amarillo in the 1940s, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, for which she served as Chapter Sweetheart for a year. She attended Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Sun Porch Class. She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 8, 2000. Survivors include a son, R. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Valle de Oro. She loved to sing and sang at several functions during her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Christine Wallace; and a sister, Linda Cheryl Wallace. Mrs. Buccola was born Sept. 23, 1907, in Large, Pa., to Frank and Anna Jansa. She married Ted Buccola in Pueblo, Colo., in 1934 and moved to Amarillo in 1938. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She worked for Vance Hall Sporting Goods and for the Vance Hall family, whom she considered her second family. She held a special place in all of our hearts and lives. She was to us, mom, grandma, Carol, Ms. B or Coli. We do miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Buccola; and a grandson, David Buccola. Amarillo Globe-News, July 18, 2002 Elsewhere Lu Fran Hamrick Simmons Parker MIDLAND - Lu Fran Hamrick Simmons Parker, 58, died Thursday, July 11, 2002. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Nicholas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jon S. Stasney and the Rev. Marshall Mason officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Parker was born on Aug. 7, 1943, in Dallas, to Horace and Fran Hamrick. She attended grade school through high school in Dumas, and graduated from Dumas High School in 1961. Lu then attended Texas Tech University and received a degree in Business Administration. She moved to Midland in 1965 and was employed by an attorney where she was initially introduced to and learned to love the oil business. Later, she was employed by Milchem as a mud program analyst. In 1972 she owned and operated Paramount Secretarial Service. In February 1974, she sold her business and became employed for 22 years by Richard S. Gaddy as office manager and lease analyst. In 1996 she decided to go independent as a landman and contracted with Pioneer Natural Gas, Arco, Titan and most recently, in 1999, with Oxy Petroleum. She had been an active member of the Episcopal Church of Holy Trinity until recently when she moved her letter to St. Nicholas Episcopal Church in order to attend services with her immediate family. Before Lu's death she asked that a special thanks be made to the following friends who supported her during her fight with cancer and have also been her loving friends since childhood, some 55 plus years; Jo Ellen Morrison, Mary Beth Avery, Betty Ann Sansing, Judy Balcomb, Linda Parker, Eloise Trafton, Carolyn Sue Wheeler, Fannie Logan, Glenna Snyder, Nancy Jaeniske and Patty Stallons, Julie King, Angie Slagle and Paulette Brocato. Additionally, she wanted to thank all of her special friends at Oxy for the love and support both financially and spiritually that they have so generously extended; Tommy and Jackie McGovern, who have been faithful, loyal neighbors for more than 15 years; Ann-Caroline Garlitz, who has been nothing less than an angel; Gary and Jane Garlitz for welcoming my son, Kully, into their lives; Pattye Knippers, who is my spiritual soul mate, who has spent countless hours caring for me and sitting up with me when I was afraid to be alone. Finally, and with love in her heart, she wanted to thank her devoted son Kully, for moving back to Midland 2 years ago for the sole purpose of taking care of her during her entire illness. The family would like to thank Dr. Karen Carr and Dr. David Watkins of Texas Oncology together with all the Cancer Clinic personnel, with a special mention to Margaret, Beverly, Milia and Mary. Thanks also to the nurses on the oncology floor at Midland Memorial Hospital, with a special mention to Martha, Penny, Mary, Roxy, Bunny, Sandra, Sonya, Tiffany and Jami who showed so much compassion in the final days. She was preceded in death by her brother, Horace Lee Hamrick. He worked at Clayton Cattle Feeders as mill manager for 29 years. Burial will be at a later date in Claude, Texas. Arrangements are by Rogers Mortuary. Mr. Alamillo was born in Gold Road, Ariz., on May 16, 1941, to Lorenzo Alamillo and Consuelo Roybal Alamillo. He married Lorraine Marquez on Feb. 11, 1961, in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. He retired in 1997 from the Nevada State Prison where he was employed as a corrections officer. He loved hunting, fishing, working on very old cars and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Immaculate Conception Church. He was a loving dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, bother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was preceded in death by his loving wife; his mother; and a sister, Irene Alamillo. Mrs. Parkhurst was a homemaker and a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church. Amarillo Globe-News, July 18, 2002 Donald Ray Elrod VINITA, Okla. - Donald Ray Elrod, 61, died Thursday, July 11, 2002. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Larry Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with military rites by Grove Veterans Ritual Team. Arrangements are by Burckhalter Funeral Home. Mr. Elrod was born June 13, 1941, in Denison, the son of Paul and Christine Elrod. He served in the Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963. He spent some of his time in the Cuban Missile Crisis. His rank when he left the Marines was Corporal E-4. He was a member of VFW. In 1971, he started working for UPS in Big Cabin, Okla. He started work in the package car division and worked his way to feeder driver where he remained for 30 years. He loved Feeders and did not want to change. He had many friends he talked to on the road from Oklahoma City to Lebanon, Mo. He received many awards from UPS including Safe Driving, Loyal Service Award and he was in the Circle of Honor. He had many friends and very few enemies. His outgoing, friendly and cheerful personality had made a mark on very many people, and he will be missed by family and friends alike. Survivors include his wife, Janice; two sons, Mark Ray Elrod and Matthew Donald Elrod and wife, Christina Lynn, all of Chelsea; three grandchildren, Jamison Patrick Elrod, Brandon Lee Elrod and Camrie Dawn Elrod, all of Chelsea; and his brothers and sisters, Bobby Dean Adams and Jerry Paul Elrod, both of Borger, Texas, Danna Rowe of Oregon and Terry Dan Elrod of Wichita Falls, Texas.
