Throckmorton, 82, died Friday, July 19, 2002. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. John Norvell, World Missions Director of the Pentecostal Church of God in Joplin, Mo., and the Rev. Randy Santiago, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Bartley-Silva Funeral Home. The Rev. Throckmorton was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Jacksboro. He married Bonnie Anderson on May 17, 1937, in Lubbock. He had been a minister for 59 years, licensed with the Pentecostal Church of God for that length of time. He pastored churches in Roswell, N.M., Woodsboro, Dumas, Plainview and Lubbock. He served as district superintendent for the Pentecostal Church of God organization, North Texas District. He also was the Presbytor for the Southwest Texas District. He received his doctorate degree in San Marcos. He had lived in Plainview since 1994 where he attended First Assembly of God Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Pallbearers will be his seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lue Throckmorton; three brothers, Leo, Otis and J.T. Throckmorton; and four sisters, Florence Swinney, Minnie Grace Williams, Carrie Hodges and Ruth Throckmorton. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Joyce Howard and husband, Ferral, of Ardmore, Okla., and Gwen Thrasher and husband, Albert, of Plainview; a son, Kenneth Throckmorton and wife, Naomi, of Marlow, Okla.; a brother, Edward C. Throckmorton of Mineral Wells; seven grandchildren, Mike and Keith Howard of Ardmore, Shannon and Tory Thrasher of Plainview, Dusty Throckmorton of Westville, Okla., Brad Throckmorton of Tulsa, Okla., and Brandie Plummer of Pope, Miss.; and 11 great-grandchildren. She married Horace Henry Martin in January 1945 in Amarillo. She worked for Novak Construction Co. as a bookkeeper. She volunteered for the Helping Hands organization and was a member of the Potter County React Association. She was a member of Amarillo Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Henry Martin, in 1990. Georgia St. with Kurtis Spidel of Faith Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Buchanan was born in Indian Territory on June 21, 1927, and grew up in Turkey. He served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He married Billie Stafford in Hedley in 1947. He worked in the oil fields of the Panhandle. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Mrs. McPherson was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Munday. She married Hugh Nance on Nov. 24, 1941. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1969. She then married Henry McPherson in September 1975. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1987. She moved to Silverton when she was a very young girl. Her family farmed north and east of Silverton. After she married, she was very active in the family store. She was a member of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years. She played the organ for the Methodist Church for more than 20 years. She had lived at the Clairemont Nursing Home for the last seven years. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Montague and husband, Benny, of Tulia and Juannah Jennings of Silverton; a son, Wayne Nance and wife, Tina, of Silverton; two brothers, Alton Strickland and wife, Gerry, of Lubbock and J.D. She was a homemaker. She had been in the Co-Workers Sunday School Class and was most recently in the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class. She was past president and member of PEO Chapter AI; member of the Primera Study Club; the Osteopathic Auxiliary; and a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church for 65 years. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1971 and was retired from Howard Johnson's restaurant. She was known as "Mama Gladys" to her family and friends. Her fun-loving, compassionate and strong-willed spirit will be passed to generations to come. She will be missed greatly. She was preceded in death by a son, Gene Wiser; a daughter, Janelle Cox; a sister, Alma Stewart; and a brother, Jake Hall. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Hazelwood Cemetery at Springfield, Mo. Arrangements are by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home of Springfield. Mrs. Jackson was the widow of Edward F. Jackson Jr. She was born in Springfield, the daughter of the late Charley Thomas and Willie O. (Hammons) Patterson, and the stepdaughter of the late Ida Mae (Fry) Patterson. She grew up in Mountain Grove and Springfield. She graduated from high school in Springfield and attended Southwest Missouri State College. She also lived in Amarillo, Hutchinson, Kan., St. Louis, Mo., Brooklyn, N.Y., and Osage, Iowa, before moving to Tennessee in 1991. She worked as traffic manager for Military Traffic Management Agency when she lived in Hutchinson, St. Louis and Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by a son, Ray Edward Jackson; and three sisters, Pearl (Patterson) House, Blanche Patterson and Edith (Patterson) Shannon. Survivors include a son, Thomas C. Jackson of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; two daughters, Marian L. Tootle of Kingsport and Carole R. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Selman was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Greenville, the first of four children to John O. and Emma Jane Townsend. As a child, her family moved to Borger where she graduated from high school in 1939. As a young woman, she worked various jobs in Borger and then during World War II, moved to Dallas to work as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She married J.D. Selman on Nov. 4, 1945, in Borger. They raised two daughters, Gay Lynn and Kara Lee, in Phillips. She was a homemaker and exceptional seamstress and was actively involved in the PTA and the local Democratic Party. She and J.D. moved to Amarillo in 1980 after his retirement from Phillips Petroleum. In March 2002 she moved to Round Rock. She was affectionately known as Gran-Gran, had a great sense of humor and had a reputation for making people laugh. She never met a stranger and people always said she was a "hoot." One of her favorite things in life was game shows. Once she discovered the Game Show Network, she was in heaven. She enjoyed playing 42 and other games. She also loved shopping and buying shoes. She always was delighted to find a good bargain. However, she was very generous with people she cared about. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a sister. Mrs. Sanders was employed by the Oklahoma Tourist Bureau welcoming center and later was a rural mail carrier for 13 years. She was a member of Oslo Lutheran Church.
