Mrs. Tiemann was born Sept. 23, 1962, in Quincy, Ill., to Reinhold Dierks and Amanda Tiemann. Survivors include her mother of Grants, N.M.; her father of Oakville, Iowa; five sisters, Judy Daynes of West Jordan, Utah, Debra Nelson of Parowan, Utah, Diane Tiemann of Albuquerque, N.M., and Joan Brown and Melanie Briggs, both of Amarillo; and a brother, David Tiemann of Hereford. Amarillo Globe-News, July 25, 2002 Edgar Earl Rhea Jr. CANADIAN - Edgar Earl Rhea Jr., 80, died Friday, July 19, 2002, in Amarillo. Private family memorial services will be held. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. Rhea was born April 10, 1922, in Woodward, Okla., to Laura Kline and Edgar E. Rhea Sr. He attended Canadian schools and Texas A&M. He served with the Navy during World War II. He married Esther B. Cizek of Chicago, in Pensacola, Fla., on Oct. 28, 1944. They were married for 57 years. He owned and operated Earl Rhea Plumbing in Canadian from 1945 to 1987. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Edgar E. Rhea III of Phoenix, Miles Rhea of Houston and Steven Rhea of San Diego; four daughters, Danielle Brown and Dana Kolius, both of Amarillo, Shelli Thomas of Canadian and Lisa Penn of Canyon; two sisters, Rilla Rhea and Lee Wilson, both of Canadian; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Day was born in Parmer County and attended schools in Bovina and Friona. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Friona. He was a member of Friona Senior Citizens and was an avid gospel singer. He loved to play the piano and the fiddle. He was a farmer and a trucker. Mr. Hopson was born Nov. 30, 1914, in Mound. He was a Dumas resident for more than 40 years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Dumas. He married Emma Jane Williams on Feb. 25, 1945, in Cross Plains. He was an English teacher in Dumas for more than 20 years. He was a minister for 20 years. He served in World War II in the Air Corps. Mrs. Moore was born, raised and lived most of her life in Amarillo. She attended Amarillo High School. He attended public school in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. He later graduated from the University of Missouri and received his master's degree from Wichita State University at Wichita, Kan. His first music teaching position was at Minot State University in Minot, N.D. He was both a student and later on the faculty at Interlochen Arts Academy. He was a resident of Bemidji, Minn., for 25 years where he taught music in the public schools and played with the Bemidji Symphony. He served with the Army during the Vietnam War and later served 20 years in the National Guard Reserve. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Parkinson of Cranford, N.J.; his mother, Mary Grace Parkinson of Amarillo; a sister, Janis Savage of Amarillo; a brother, John Parkinson of Amarillo; three nephews; a niece; and a special friend, Janiece Baxter. She married Joaquin Lomas Puentes on Oct. 19, 1937, in San Pedro de las Colonia, Coahuila, Mexico. They were married 64 years. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sylvester Almanza Jr. in 1994; and a granddaughter, Anna Contreras in July 2002. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Chaplain Windell Taylor of the V.A. officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Stevens worked for BNSF as an engineer for 37 years. He retired in 1980, and began volunteering at the VA Hospital. He belonged to Windmill Sams travel group, Texas Panhandle Ramblers Winnebago Club and was a member of the Oddfellows. He was an active member of the San Jacinto Baptist church. He married Betty Bell on Dec. 15, 1945, in Memphis. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vickie Hilmers and Barbara Harvey, both of Amarillo; a son, Perry Stevens of Amarillo; three brothers, Claude E. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Hobgood worked for SPS for 28 years, retiring in 1975. He was a seaman second class in the Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Va. He was active in Boy Scouts and was committee chairman for Kwahadi Indians. He was the first recipient of the Golden Spread Council Wood Badge and assistant Scout master for Troop 28. He married Agnes Harkins on Feb. 18, 1945. He enjoyed the outdoors and being with his family. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark Hobgood and wife, Jami, of Amarillo; two daughters, Koma Murry and husband, Rick, of Lafayette, Colo., and Melody Gills and husband, Jerry, of Bushland; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild. After retiring, he began working for Bell Helicopter for 10 years. He married Katherine Uhlschmidt on Jan. 16, 1956, in Munich, Germany. They were married for 46 years. He loved to fish and spend time with his family. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Sartor in 1993.
