Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Martin was born Feb. 20, 1942, in Kermit. He was a machinist for Litton Industries. Survivors include his wife, Dianna. The family will be at 210 S. Hoyne St. in Fritch. Amarillo Globe-News, July 26, 2002 Thelma Ruth Chapman BORGER - Thelma Ruth Chapman, 78, died Monday, July 22, 2002, in Boston. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Borger First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Terry officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Chapman was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Tahoka. She moved to Borger shortly after receiving her bachelor of education degree from Texas Tech University. She retired from teaching in 1983 after many years of service to the Phillips and Borger school districts as an elementary school music teacher. She served as choir director in Wesley Methodist Church for many years and most recently participated in the choirs of Frank Phillips College and First Methodist Church. She continued her enjoyment of music after her retirement by teaching piano. She was a gracious person who brought joy, happiness and love to all whose lives she touched. She will be missed by her family and many friends in the Borger Community. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Weldon "Pat" Chapman. Survivors include a sister, Margaret Edwards of Pflugerville; three children, Kenneth Chapman, D.D.S., of Kampala, Uganda, John Chapman, Ph.D., of Boston and Cheryl Swafford of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Jamie Swafford and Kevin Swafford, both of Amarillo, Christopher Chapman and Thomas Chapman, both of Boston, and Brianna Chapman of Kampala. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Lakeview United Methodist Church in Dalhart with the Rev. Harry Williams officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. McClendon was born Feb. 9, 1953, to Joe and Ella Mae McClendon. He attended Dalhart schools and graduated from Dalhart High School in 1971. After graduation, he began working for Burlington Northern Railroad and was employed there for 24 years. He has been in ill health for the past eight years. He liked fishing and drag races and watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include a son, Joe McClendon of Amarillo; a sister, Vicki Barrow and husband, David, of Pampa; and a brother, Ron McClendon and wife, Charleen, of Trinidad, Colo. Terry Cosby, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mrs. Woodard married Morris Woodard on April 14, 1937, in Paducah. They lived in Amarillo for 50 years before moving to Hereford. She was the first woman bailiff in the Amarillo City Court. She was raised in the Cee Vee community. Survivors include her husband; a son, John Woodard and wife, Loretta, of Hereford; two daughters, Cleriece York of Tifton, Ga., and Jean Owen and husband, Geral, of Yantis; a sister, Roxie Cosper of Hereford; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a nephew and niece, Chuck and Sue Cosper of Hereford. Amarillo Globe-News, July 26, 2002 ImaJean McEntire SUNRAY - ImaJean McEntire, 83, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in Dumas. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Morrison Memorial Chapel in Sunray with Jim York, minister of Sunray Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. McEntire was born July 2, 1919, in Talking Rock, Ga. She was a Sunray resident in 1956, prior to that she was a Dumas resident. She married Houston McEntire on Nov. 27, 1937, in Sweetwater, Okla. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Donald Glenn McEntire of Dumas and Freddie Lee McEntire of Sunray; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1228 N. Maddox St. in Dumas. Amarillo Globe-News, July 26, 2002 Amarillo Robert Irwin "Bob" Hutchison Robert Irwin "Bob" Hutchison, 64, died Saturday, July 20, 2002. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Hutchison left this world of trouble and sorrow to go home to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday about 10:30 p.m. After 34 years in the cemetery and funeral profession, he chose cremation as the final disposition of his remains. Therefore there will be no formal viewing of his earthly body. He was born Aug. 7, 1937, and was raised in the small Pennsylvania town of Clintonville. He moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1955, where he met his wife of 45 years. He married Joyce Marie Garms on March 1, 1957, in Cayucos, Calif. They returned to make their home in Arizona until late November of 1969. In December of 1969, he accepted a position as sales manager, was later promoted to general manager, then co-owner of Memorial Park Funeral Home, which was completed in 1975. When the business sold in 1985, it was with the condition that Mr. Hutchison stay on as manager and president of the new corporation, which he did until he left the company in 1997. His community endeavors have included varied activities with many different organizations. He was an exhausted rooster with the Amarillo Jaycees, with whom he served as president and co-chairman of a Texas Jaycees Convention in the early 1970s. He served as president of the Amarillo Arthritis Foundation for two terms and was instrumental in the foundation's fund-raising art auctions. He served on the Parks and Recreations Department of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce during the time Southwest Park was established. He was a life member of the Amarillo West Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He served one term as president of the club. He was active at San Jacinto Baptist Church, serving as chairman of the ushers as well as on several committees, including the stewardship and prayer committees. He served several years on the board of directors of the Panhandle Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. He was involved in the Baptist St. Anthony's Volunteer Program at the front information desk and the intensive care unit waiting room. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Jean. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Brenda Joanne Cowan and husband, Richie, of Hurst; two sons, Robert Wayne "Bobby" Hutchison and wife, Sherry, of Amarillo, and Ronald Alan Hutchison and his wife, Chris, of Georgetown; two granddaughters, four grandsons; one sister, Linda McLean and husband, Don, of Grove City, Penn; two brothers Lewis Hutchison and wife, Ann, of Harrisville, Penn., and Jim Hutchison and wife, Sue, of Sandy Lake, Pa. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Gasparovich was born and raised in Marion County, Iowa. While serving as a radio operator in the Amy Air Corps during World War II, he flew missions over Europe. He was a prisoner of war and awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After an honorable discharge and return to Iowa, he married Pearl Mae Bartlett in 1945. Later they moved their family to New Mexico. He retired after 30 years with the Department of Defense working at Los Alamos Laboratories, Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range and the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake, Calif. He continued to serve in retirement as a volunteer with Retired Senior Volunteer Program and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson. Survivors include his wife; a son, George Gasparovich Jr. of Amarillo; four daughters, Patricia Ludwig and Priscilla Sheets, both of Amarillo, Paula Rodriguez of Wichita Falls and Pamela Thomas of Berkeley, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Phillips of Sanger, Calif. Private family graveside services will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Butler was born Aug. 28, 1917, in New Orleans. She married William M. Butler. She was a longtime member and past president of PEO Chapter CB. She volunteered for many years in the St. Anthony's Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Both she and her husband were longtime members of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She had a gracious and giving nature that extended into many lives and organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982. Survivors include her cousins, Jack W. Mathis, Kathryn S. Mowrer, John Mathis, Robert Mathis, Cathy M. Heiney and Melissa M. Mr. Hobgood worked for Southwestern Public Service for 28 years, retiring in 1975. He was a seaman second class in the Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Va. He was active in Boy Scouts and was committee chairman for Khawadi Indians. He was the first recipient of the Golden Spread Council Wood Badge and assistant Scout Master for Troop 28. He married Agnes Harkins on Feb. 18, 1945. He enjoyed the outdoors and being with his family.
